>> I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but when I first saw this look from the Ruffian Fall 2008 collection (L), I immediately thought of the Balenciaga Spring 2006 collection (R). The fitted jacket with skinny black lapels, the stiff brocade material, the black belt with gold embellished buckle, the cropped fitted pants . . . they're all very similar to my eye.

This looks like such a Balenciaga ripoff. I can't see a single difference in the two (except for the color, stating the obvious). The pants are almost like a duplicate copy, too.
It looks eerily similar ,especially the pants. And I happen to like Masha.I don't think her gigantic eyes detract from anything on the runway.
I was thinking the exact same thing!!
I'm happy to see that i'm not the only one to think that Masha Tyelna is freaking out!!! Don't you think the new supermodels wave (Karlie Kloss/Masha Tyelna and so on) are not as stunning (attitude AND style) as the Jessica Stam/Gemma Ward/Lily Donaldson's generation ?? I miss them !! We've seen quite rarely during the NY fashion week !
Similar? More like duplicate copy.
i immediately thought balenciaga- hilary rhoda- when i saw this.
definitely a balenciaga ripoff! why bother?
So v. similar and yet Balenciaga more than one-ups Ruffian. It's all in the collar./DCB.
That was the first thought that came up in my mind too. A lot of Ruffian stuff looked like Balenciaga stuff, only much more blah in my opinion. And I agree about Masha Tyelna's scary eyes. They totally destract me from anything she has been wearing on the runways. Not that the girl can help it, but she wouldn't be my first pick if I was a designer up for fashionweek.
Whoa, very similar. Kind of sketchy, though I like the look.
Good point, but the real story here is that Masha Tyelna's eyes kinda scare me.
um. i really enjoyed the ruffian show, but now i am so very confused - did i like it because it was so balenciaga or because of its own merits?
