>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Claudia Schiffer is replacing Naomi Campbell as Yves Saint Laurent's supermodel face for Spring 2009, and the stunning first image of the set is out.  Once again, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin helmed the campaign's Hollywood Hills photoshoot, positioning a tuxedo jacket-clad Claudia in front of a big "Y" — to depict the theme "Y's up."  The ads break in February, and this shot will be used on the newest YSL Manifesto, to be handed out Feb. 14 during New York Fashion Week. >> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Those who enjoyed Liya Kebede and Raquel Zimmermann as Lanvin girls, cherish it while it lasts — they won't be back for Spring 2009.  Although no casts have been revealed, Steven Meisel shot the new Lanvin campaign in New York last week, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot Yves Saint Laurent a few weeks ago with a very "California" theme, Mario Testino is doing Versace in LA in early November, and Gucci will be photographed this week in Miami. >> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Fall 2008 campaigns brought a wave of supermodels and for Spring 2009, at least one brand isn't over the nineties girls yet: Ana Claudia Michels, who opened the Givenchy show earlier this month, is jetting into New York to shoot the brand's campaign with Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin tomorrow.  No word as to whether it's an only girl campaign, but if so, I'm sorry to see Riccardo Tisci's favorite Mariacarla Boscono go. >> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Kate Moss may have been "downgraded" from Roberto Cavalli's mainline ads to fronting his Just Cavalli line for Fall, but after the first two images from the new set have appeared, I would argue that Kate almost fits in better with the diffusion line's rocker feel than the overly-tanned, animal print-laden ads of Roberto Cavalli's senior line. >> A Vogue Italia cover yesterday, a YSL campaign today . . . Naomi Campbell's on a roll.  I wonder if the PR people are all trying to capitalize on her trial today, which is sure to garner a press report or two?  In any case, this Fall 2008 campaign image — shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin at the YSL headquarters in Paris — looks to be very much in the same vein as Kate Moss's Spring 2008 ads for the brand.

Meanwhile, Linda Evangelista's first ad for Prada has also debuted.  She looks about as startled as I feel; I'm still getting used to not seeing Sasha Pivovarova as the brand's face.  The supermodel was photographed by Steven Meisel back in April in a New York studio, and the first print campaign images will be in the August issue of Vogue Italia.
