Another Roitfeld Rumor - Carine to Do Reality TV?

>> Lots of rumors are swirling this week about projects Carine Roitfeld may have up her sleeve. On Monday, it was suggested that she may be designing her own line, and now come rumors of a reality TV project.

Yesterday, Models.com's Wayne Sterling tweeted: "What do you do with hiss you can't seep! All I can say is . . . if you really wannabearoitfeld then your dream is abt to come true. Really true!" He then followed up with: "Which is to say 'doing windows' was a big smokescreen," making a reference to Roitfeld's upcoming gig staging the windows at Barneys' Manhattan flagship.

When Sterling was asked if he was referring to a reality TV show with the above tweets, he replied, "shhhhhh!"

Expect a Spring 2010 Season Full of "Safe" Ad Campaigns

>> Fashion houses tended toward casting celebrities or established, "pretty" faces for their Fall 2009 campaigns, and it sounds like despite the fact that the Spring 2010 runways were flooded with new faces - because so many established models were sitting it out - Spring 2010 campaign season will bring more of the same. In an interview published today, Nick Knight tells the Independent UK:

"My aim has always been to push at the boundaries of what is and isn't beautiful. Instead of our perception of beauty opening up, it's becoming more narrow all the time. To make money, the industry is increasingly catering to the lowest common denominator and, as far as the people who run the big companies are concerned, anything even slightly out of the ordinary frightens people. But anyone with a brain knows that it is the quirkiness and imperfection in a person that attracts other people. That is completely obvious to human beings; it's just when it gets to a corporate level that it all falls apart."

Kanye West Said To Be Showing at Paris Fashion Week, Working with Major Stylist

>> When reports of Kanye West's womenswear collection first surfaced in July, rumors went around that he would show at New York Fashion Week. Now, it sounds like Paris will host the line's debut, instead. West, who is reportedly collaborating with designer Louise Goldin and stylist Christine Centenera on the collection, and Giuseppe Zanotti on shoes, is said to be working with a major stylist for the show, The Imagist reports: "Hiss hiss. Which ultra-power stylist is now playing in Kayne's camp for his blue chip Paris showing. And it IS a Paris showing kids!" Dasha Zhukova Rumored to Be Launching a New Magazine

>> Since resigning as editor of POP last November, Dasha Zhukova's new endeavors have been primarily art focused. The day after she resigned, it was announced that Zhukova had invested in and was expected to be active in the business of online startup Art.sy, which aims to be a "Pandora for art," recommending pieces to potential buyers based on their taste.

And a couple of weeks ago, it was confirmed that "in a gesture designed to please" Zhukova, her partner Roman Abramovich will finance a state-of-the-art modern art gallery in Moscow's Gorky Park, part of a £1.25 billion ($2.04 billion) makeover of the location which will also include a London Eye-style Ferris wheel. The forthcoming gallery is expected to be curated and run by Zhukova, who also confirmed that she plans to move her Moscow-based Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture to Gorky Park after the renovations are complete.

Now, rumors are circulating that Zhukova plans to return to print. The Imagist reports: "Have you caught that whisper of a hiss that suggests that post-POP, the world's most glamorous art maven, Dasha Zhukova, is summoning her very own culture mag ? . . . We heard the suspected name, which makes perfect branding sense...But who's designing? Who's shooting for? London based? Paris? Moscow? Art driven or is [it] a fashion frenzy?"

No images from the Gucci Fall 2011 campaign set, meanwhile, but the end product is rumored to feature four girls - two who Gucci has cast before and two who are newcomers to the label, including "that one stunning Top 10 Newcomer who all the key clients had to have," The Imagist reports.

Ryan Murphy, Douglas Keeve, and Possibly Bee Shaffer Working on Upcoming Model TV Series

>> America's Next Top Model may have Andre Leon Talley as a judge and Vogue Italia as a partner, but it sounds like Model Apartment, Glee creator Ryan Murphy's upcoming reality docuseries, may have an even more high fashion slant.

The series, which is in development at A&E and has Unzipped's Douglas Keeve on board as executive producer, was described in May as: "[A look] inside the world of six models living together for a fly-on-the-wall look at how they live, work, and play."

The cast is reportedly a mix of established models and fresh faces, and The Imagist noted earlier this week: "[The] Ryan Murphy Model TV project is gathering momentum in the form of Vogue Italia cover girls and English indie cover boys. I don't think television has ever seen such a editorial casting in eons."

It's also possible that Anna Wintour's daughter Bee Shaffer is somehow involved - she moved to Los Angeles in May to work for Murphy's production company, reportedly overseeing research for the shows and projects under the company's umbrella.

According to The Imagist, back before Werbowy signed her Lancome contract in April 2005, Lancome and Victoria's Secret were in a bidding war over her: "It was down to the wire till the last moment. Is Something Up at Pierre Cardin?

>> Is change on the horizon for the house of Pierre Cardin? There are certainly rumors floating around that would perpetrate as much. Earlier this month, shortly after Hedi Slimane confirmed that he plans to return to fashion design, commenters on The Imagist suggested that he may be headed to Pierre Cardin. And then this morning, The Imagist himself tweeted, "You will witness the return of Pierre Cardin to ultra-blue chip relevancy," suggesting that something is indeed a-brewing.

Just last week, Cardin said that in light of his age, he wants to hand his empire over to new owners soon: “A decision is fairly imminent. I want to do it this year. I am almost 89, you know. I might be alert for another two, three years, but after that, I’ll be a little bit senile.”

His minimum asking price remains one billion euros ($1.4 billion), despite criticism that the price is too steep for a business based mainly on licenses. “I field offers every single day,” Cardin noted. “Let’s do the math briefly. There are some 100 clothing products for men, women and children. There are roughly 100 countries. On average, I’m asking for one million euros [$1.4 million] per product and per country. That’s 10 billion euros. Wouldn’t you give one million euros to own the license for Pierre Cardin suits, for example? It’s nothing.”

Cardin added that he is currently leaning towards a plan by British-based investors to list the company on the stock exchange and keep him on as CEO. But, as WWD notes: "The famously mercurial designer could still change his mind."

>> In less than two weeks, Carine Roitfeld is headed out the door at Vogue Paris, with Emmanuelle Alt set to take over on Feb. 1. Roitfeld's last issue will be for March, and although there's been no intel on who might feature on that cover - her last for the magazine - her second to last cover choice, for February 2011, is Lara Stone, captured by Mario Sorrenti (left).

So what, beyond these last few days in her current role, does Roitfeld have on her plate? There's still her biography, Carine Roitfeld: Album of a Woman of Fashion, that Olivier Zahm has been working on for over a year, which is supposed to come out in the Fall. Apparently she recently read the Keith Richards biography, Life, and has since been wanting to try shepherd's pie, Harper's Bazaar UK editor Lucy Yeomans tweets: "Just seen [British chef] Mark Hix sending shepherds pie to Carine Roitfeld in Paris.She has wanted to try one since reading SPscene in Keith Richards biog!" And now there's speculation that Roitfeld might look into launching her own brand. As The Imagist points out: "I mean if [Anna Dello Russo] can have her own fragrance, why shouldn't the masses be able to buy a little bit of le style Roitfeld?"
