Marc Jacobs, Lorenzo Martone Now Aiming for a 2010 Wedding

>> Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone originally planned on having a very small, two-person wedding at the end of August. It was never confirmed after the fact, though, and it sounds like that's because it hasn't happened yet. Jacobs told the Times UK: "We still haven’t fixed the date but Lorenzo and I believe in commitment. We’re quite classic like that. We’ve got the licence, hence the rumours that we’d already got married. So hopefully it will happen in 2010. When it does, it will be very low-key."

Jacobs says that the economy has affected him personally - "I’ve cut back, because my partner Lorenzo and I are buying a house in the West Village in New York" - but it sounds like it hasn't affected Louis Vuitton the way it has Versace, Zac Posen, and Gucci - the former has announced impending layoffs, and cuts are expected to be announced at the latter two. "In terms of what’s selling at Louis Vuitton, the recession hasn’t changed anything . . . our sales are up and I haven’t noticed that people’s tastes have got more subdued. There’s this huge cult following of almost crazy people at Vuitton who just want whatever they buy to be exclusive."

>> Louis Vuitton started exactly on time this afternoon, leaving more than a few editors shut out and half the front row empty; of those who did make it inside in time, some were still on the runway when the show commenced, leaving opener Patricia Van der Vliet to barge right through. Every single girl had on a sky-high afros, each made from five smaller wigs sewn together, which bobbed "up and down like big pom pom balls" as they walked; Grace Coddington apparently "whooped with delight" at the first sight of them.

A flurry of models were front row - Sophie Dahl and her fiance Jamie Cullum, Natalia Vodianova, Daisy Lowe - but Georgia May Jagger was a surprise on the catwalk. The show, inspired by the '80s and '90s New Age traveller and “street clothes, embracing the hippie-cyber, tribal-punk world,” according to Marc Jacobs, included everything from kitten-heeled clogs to bags with raccoon tails - straight from Williamsburg hipsters - to bike shorts and glitter anoraks. And Jacobs himself wore a pair of the furry clogs for the finale.

It appears that it happened, though: Style.com's Derek Blasberg Tweeted a few days ago: "Going for a drink at the new Mrs. Martone-Jacobs' apartment, then OUT. The wife's away this weekend." While we're on hearsay surrounding Jacobs, he has expressed interest in doing a reality TV show in the past and is rumored to be participating in an upcoming reality show dubbed Kept, pitched as a gay version of The Real Housewives franchise. >> Low-to-No-Heels (Even the Kitten Heel) Getting Nods from Stylish Key Editors, Marc Jacobs for Spring 2010 -Various editors at Vogue have been rooting for less heel, more flat shoes since resort season, and this past week, at least two editors who love their heels have been going lower: Meredith Melling Burke pulled on knee-high black boots with maybe a half-inch heel, and Giovanna Battaglia chose, of all things, the kitten heel. >> Siri Tollerod, Dree Hemingway Both Go Blonder -Yesterday, Siri Tollerod turned up at Zac Posen and then again at Marc Jacobs with substantially lighter hair than the day before; looks like she's jumped on the platinum blonde bandwagon, as her agency just posted photos of her with the lighter shade. And Dree Hemingway, too, was sporting a blonder look than usual when she turned up at the Jane Hotel to party with Another Magazine last night. [TFS]

>> In a show venue like the inside of a lab - white walls and floor, white benches, and bright, bright lights - which caused for a sweltering experience - Marc Jacobs sent out his theater and romance-inspired Spring 2010 collection. Anna Wintour arrived twenty minutes early from the US Open - she ended up missing Roger Federer lose - and despite rumors that the show was to be celeb-free, Madonna and Jesus Luz took their seats and Lady Gaga, arriving mid-show, stood in the photographer's pit with Lorenzo Martone. Marc later told WWD that he hadn't invited either, but Madonna called three hours before the show - "after working with her [on the Louis Vuitton campaign] I couldn't say no" - and same goes for Gaga, who is performing at Marc and V Magazine's party tonight.

Jessica Stam and Suvi Koponen both walked for the first time this Fashion Week - in fact, instead of breaking new faces as his usually does, Marc stuck mostly to the familiars: Iris Strubegger opened, Kamila Filipcikova closed. The girls had on geisha-style makeup and topknots, and there was lots of femininity - pearl embellishments, lingerie layered over suits, ruffles - and a few surprises - scrunchies and kitten keels, for instance. >> Marc Jacobs's Spring 2010 show is just a little over an hour away - and there's plenty of hints that have been going around. It's all front row again, according to today's The Daily, and Lorenzo Martone told The Cut it will celebrity-free: "I think Marc is really tired of the rock-and-roll thing, so it’s going to be very romantic. So: ruffles and prints and very kind of sweet.” Word a couple of days ago is that Marc was trying to convince some new faces to dye their hair black for the show, and The Imagist told us earlier today that it's supposedly not just black, but blonde, as well. As for whether the show will commence early, on-time, or late, Katie Grand "reliably" told Grazia that the lights will go down start 4 minutes late; that is, presumedly, unless Anna Wintour, who is coming from the US Open, is running late. Meanwhile, Agyness Deyn Twittered earlier this evening, "I have black hair!!!!!!! Emo!!!!!!" and her sister posted a picture from last night as photographic evidence. Juergen Teller's Only Marc Jacobs Ad-Related Controversies Both Came Courtesy of Vogue

>> Juergen Teller has regular work in Vogue UK, Vogue Paris, and of course W - but it's difficult to recall the last time he was published in Vogue (besides his ad work for Marc Jacobs). A quick search turns up a Vogue editorial with Christy Turlington - but dated 1994. His comments to The Moment about which of his ad series for Marc Jacobs were most controversial may provide clues as to why:

Funnily enough the most complaints were about the series with Dick Page and James Gibbs because they are a gay couple. Men’s Vogue even refused to publish it. Dick is a very close friend of mine and I’ve known him for 20 years - he’s been part of the Marc family for 20 years. And I like the idea of having a gay couple in a men’s ad because it makes sense. And I wanted the ads to be like they are - very romantic, tender and sweet. I certainly didn’t want to have anything provocative, not at all. The only other controversy that comes to mind also involved Vogue - the women’s one - over an ad of a clothed Cindy Sherman and me in which I am grabbing her breasts. That caused a stir. Go figure.

Although many suspected the Spring 2007 set with then 12-year-old Dakota Fanning would have caused Teller trouble, he says not so: "The Dakota ones caused nothing, and they are pretty hard-core. They are on the border of being too much, even for me. I don’t remember hearing much about it, but if there was any controversy it was very under the radar."

>> Marc Jacobs To Marry This Weekend, May Be Cutting Spring 2010 Guest List Even More than Last Season -Marc Jacobs's wedding is supposedly happening this weekend - and despite the fact that the ceremony will only be attended by him and Lorenzo Martone, an after-party is in the works. Marc is also bringing back his Fashion Week after-party for Spring 2010 after cancelling it last season, with Lady Gaga as the guest of honor; as for his fashion show's guest list, which he cut from 2,000 to 900 last season, he told The Cut: "We’re definitely not going to be doing our huge show.
