Lights, Camera, Action: i-D Magazine's Summer 2012 Covers

A pregnant Julia Restoin Roitfeld and a winking, smiling Agyness Deyn are among the cultural icons on the eight covers of i-D's Summer issue.

The "Lights, Camera, Action!"-themed issue, which hit newsstands today, features a treasure trove of stories about all of its cover subjects, including Dior artistic director Raf Simons and model Arizona Muse. The attention-getting covers also include Felicity Hayward, Andrej Pejic and Dree Hemingway, Léa Seydoux, and actor Andrew Garfield - who will star in this Summer's Spider-Man reboot. Raf Simons Is on the Summer 2012 Cover of i-D Magazine

Newly appointed Dior couturier Raf Simons will grace the cover of i-D magazine's Summer 2012 issue. The cover photo, lensed by Willy Vanderperre, features Simons breaking through a wall of black and white flowers wearing clothing from his eponymous menswear label, styled by Olivier Rizzo. The one cover line of the "Lights, Camera, Action"-themed issue reads, "It's Show Time! Starring Raf Simons." An online teaser for the issue promises a story written by i-D contributor Holly Shackleton. The issue is available for preorder on May 7 and hits newsstands on May 10.

>> Edward Enninful, who left contributing fashion editor gigs at Vogue and Vogue Italia behind this month to become W's new fashion and style director, has also exited his position as fashion director at i-D, which he has held since 1991, when he was 18. His replacement is reportedly the stylist Charlotte Stockdale, who has worked with i-D in the past and whose clients have ranged from Fendi to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn Take It Off for i-D's Exhibitionist Issue

>> Karlie Kloss is growing up: she turned 18 last August, and it seems like she's comfortable showing more skin these days. She stripped down for the cover of i-D's Spring 2011 Exhibitionist Issue alongside her best friend Jourdan Dunn, holding a strategically placed hat, and inside the magazine there's more of the same - modest poses in no clothes or a convenient crop job.

"Jour Jour" and "Kar," as they call each other ("We're too lazy to say each other's full name!" Kloss says) - or "Jourlie," which Dunn explains is what "people call us when we're together," also gave an interview together. Among the things we learned:

They share a birthday: "I was born Aug. 3, 1992," Kloss says, "and Jourdan was born Aug. 3, 1990. We're birthday twins."

They're both serially late: "Our call time [for the i-D shoot] wasn't until 4 pm," Kloss says, "so we spent the day apartment hunting in New York. Then had a bite to eat at a little diner before heading to the shoot. We still ended up being 25 minutes late! Both of us have serious problems being on time…"

Karlie's favorite part of her body: "Karlie is obsessed with her bum," Dunn says. "She loves it."

Jourdan is no longer with the father of her son, who was arrested a year ago: "Last year was a tough year for me. I went through a lot with my personal life but thank goodness my Mum was there for me every step of the way. I'm now not scared of being a single mother."

Jourdan didn't have to diet, post-baby: "To be honest, I didn't work out or follow an eating plan. I was loving my new body so much I was trying my hardest to keep the baby weight on! I breast fed for nine months though and people say breast-feeding helps you lose weight."

Karlie wants a big family: "[My longterm dreams are] to go to medical school and start a big family of my own… I want five boys!"

Jourdan loves her some fried chicken: "I've been known to turn up to a show with KFC! I don't care. If I need to eat, I'm gonna eat."

Jourdan's son, Riley, has sickle cell disease: "The hardest thing is not knowing if Riley is just miserable or if he's in pain and having a crisis. Last December he had his first crisis, and he was submitted to hospital for a blood transfusion. It was the scariest thing. All I wanted to do was take the pain away… I felt helpless as a mother. But now we have experienced his first crisis we are more prepared and know what to look out for."

Jourdan's most fun night ever involved Abbey Lee Kershaw getting locked in a bathroom: "We went to the Versace party in Milan with Abbey Lee. Abbey got locked in the toilets for an hour and we couldn't get her out! I will never forget that."

>> Jourdan Dunn has been slowly creeping back into the public eye since she had her son in December: a runway exclusive for Aquascutum in February, a charity catwalk show in March, a full body of work in the Victoria's Secret catalogue last month, and now, a reappearance in Vogue - the September issue (left) - in two editorials. She also has a beauty story in the upcoming Fall 2010 issue of i-D. But the big question is: will she be doing the runway circuit again next month?

It seems that she's ready to start logging time on sets again: earlier this month, she was reportedly photographed for a September 2010 Vogue story that will also feature Stella Tennant and Liya Kebede, and today she was on set shooting a beauty story for i-D's Fall 2010 issue (left). >> Miranda Kerr Continues High Fashion Crossover with i-D Cover -She's headlining the upcoming Fall 2010 Prada campaign, and now she's scored one of three Summer 2010 i-D covers - the other two featuring Jeneil Williams and Gisele Bundchen. Miranda Kerr continues the path paved by Bundchen and Adriana Lima before her, trading in solely Victoria's Secret fare to embark on more high fashion endeavors. Just last night, The Imagist wrote of Kerr: "She's much more than a VS thing now kids...Miss Kerr is looking like THE blue chip campaign queen of FW 10." He also hinted: "If I were the editor of a major cutting edge fashion glossy I would be clearing space for my Miranda Kerr cover right this minute. But hang on ...if TI is thinking it, it probably means Miss Kerr is probably already a cover star of something furiously glossy." [TFS, TI]

With the spread comes an interview, in which Dree runs over some of her favorites . . . and not-so-favorites. On London: "It's my favorite place. I should probably just move there." On walking in Milan: "No thank you." On catalog shoots: "I feel trapped! Smile and pose with the bag but it's too cheesy. I can't handle it! It's unnatural!" And on her best job: "The first shoot with Inez and Vinoodh for W and every other shoot with Alasdair McLellan. He's amazing."
