Love Is in the Air for Katie Grand, Francesca Burns?

Thu, 10/23/08 — 03:38:14 PM

>> Katie Grand's new magazine has a name — Love — just as previously rumored.  Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Conde Nast UK, which is publishing the magazine, explains: "We came up with the name together.  It's just a great name. It's a very positive name denoting a love of fashion and a love of style."

Love — which comes out late February, early March, will go for £5 and is already attracting a "very positive response" from advertisers.  It's also rumored to have attracted Francesca Burns from her post as fashion editor at i-D — she's said to be joining Love as senior fashion editor-at-large.

Lara Stone, Exposed, for i-D November 2008

Fri, 10/10/08 — 04:37:56 PM

>> Lara Stone is known for baring her breasts in most of her editorial spreads, inciting fanaticism in some and eliciting scoffs from others, but as she tells i-D in the November 2008 issue, she's tired of all the commotion: "Will you stop asking me questions about my tits?  Oops sorry, but the world seems rather obsessed with them . . ."  She graces the cover of the magazine, all chiseled cheeks, gap teeth and bleached eyebrows — no breasts in sight — but when the accompanying tagline reads, "Yes, I think I'm sexy," what does she expect?

The world's obsession started when Lara was young.

My mother tells me of when I was 10 or 11 and I would wear really tight, short skirts and crop tops. All the local men would wolf whistle and stop and stare, but I didn't realize why at the time.

But her mother did . . . and she wasn't sure what to do about it.

The first time she saw me naked she sent this whole long big email, that was sooo sweet. She had seen the pictures from Purple by Inez and Vinoodh of me, butt naked, in the studio. She was like 'Lara, if you don't want to do this, you can just say no, you can always move back home with us'. She's so sweet.

Catwalk falls, more nudity, and Lara the librarian . . . »

>> INSIDER WIRE —At Louis Vuitton, there is never a shortage of monograms or trinkets — and Sunday's show was no exception.  Marc Jacob's business partner Robert Duffy mentioned backstage that the models had on pretty lingerie, and Raquel Zimmermann and others flipped up their skirts to reveal LV-monogrammed underpants.  Meanwhile, after the show, Marc handed out the shoes straight off the runway to his favorite editors — Francesca Burns from i-D and Victoria Young of POP among them. Jourdan Dunn Winks, Blinks, and Nods at Naomi Campbell for September 2008 i-D

Wed, 08/06/08 — 11:32:26 PM

>> Those July 2008 Vogue Italia shockwaves keep on resonating: Black models are covering POP Fall 2008, Harper's Bazaar September 2008, and now Jourdan Dunn shows up on i-D September 2008, photographed by Emma Summerton.  Even V 55 is rumored to be a Naomi Campbell extravaganza.  Speaking of Naomi, how much does Jourdan call to mind the supermodel on this cover and in the accompanying "Welcome to the witching hour" editorial?
