Coach Classic Bags Are Back with New, Bolder Colors

>> When Coach first re-launched its heritage Classics collection with Net-a-Porter back in June, it stuck to a '70s color palette of mahogany, tan, navy, and deep red. The popularity of the collection must have made Coach more daring, because they're just released a new set of the bags - this time in bolder colors like candy red vermillion, lime, and white.

>> In April, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted exiting Coach headquarters with company creative director Reed Krakoff. Soon after, Coach confirmed that Paltrow was set to serve as brand ambassador for an international campaign to mark Coach's 70th anniversary this Fall and next Spring. Krakoff called Paltrow “a natural choice . . . She embodies the spirit, energy and elegance of the Coach brand.”

Peter Lindbergh shot Paltrow on the top of the Tudor City skyscrapers in Manhattan for ads that will only be used in Asian and European markets - and now we have a first look at the campaign.

>> The Fall 2011 campaign parade continues: Arizona Muse was on set for Alberta Ferretti yesterday, as were Valentina Zeliaeva and Magdalena Frackowiak for Ralph Lauren (left).

Raquel Zimmermann recently confirmed: "I'll be in the Lanvin campaign which was shot by photographer Steven Meisel, but I can not describe how it was, total secrecy until the campaign out!" And Roberto Cavalli is reportedly employing Natasha Poly, Mariacarla Boscono, and Karen Elson to be shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Panos Yiapanis.

After Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted leaving Coach headquarters recently with Reed Krakoff, meanwhile, rumors have been fanned that the actress might be a new face for either Coach or Krakoff's Coach-funded eponymous label.

When we were little we convinced our parents to buy us everything in the color purple with bonus points if it had sparkles--when we were little one of the first luxury handbag lines we knew by sight was Coach. We never thought we'd say this but these thousand dollar handbags are actually pulling at our heartstrings in some strange way. If we were shown these bags back then, we probably would have bowled over with happiness..not that much has changed, these Resort 2009 handbags are making us pretty happy even as adults. Last night was opening night for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and star Renée Fleming wore Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, and John Galliano. The She even has a fragrance, handed out to concert goers, called La Voce by Renée Fleming which benefits the Met. Populism and opera may be a concept we can get behind.

Alice Temperely has given birth to a son Fox London Temperley von Bennigsen Mackiewicz just five days after her Spring 2009 show. Fox, the first child for Temperley and her husband Lars von Bennigsen, was born in London at 9am on Saturday, September 20.

Louis Vuitton seems to have quite the sense of humour with their "core values" campaign. First it was former Mikhail Gorbachev Russian president now its men who pretend to spy on the Russians. Sean Connery may have just sat for Annie Leibovitz. We suppose Ian Fleming's version of James Bond would be very into nice luggage as an idea. In other strange combinations news Sonic Youth's bassist Kim Gordon is making a line for hip moms. May be kindly suggest they check out Kirna Zabete newly launched ecommerce site? They are the only store to sell Lanvin online!

In choosing an economic system, Deng Xiaoping sady it doesn't matter if the cat is black or white so long as it catches mice. Apparently Chinese capitalism is catching a lot of mice as Coach is betting it will grow to a $250 million dollar retail presence as it grows from 15 points of sale to over 50 in five years time.

Times may be tough but we always go back to our favorite shoe brand.

Dolce and Gabbana plan to open 24 more stores next year.

Yet another shock, rich people get frustrated when they can't buy expensive things online easily.

We like to think it is all of the discount Marni we purchase that is helping Yoox get to its 2009 IPO.

Collab Mad: Joy Gryson Handbags For Target

In April of this year, Target will be releasing a line of faux-leather handbags designed by Joy Gryson. Gryson, who has designed for Coach and Marc Jacobs, had enough it-bag experience to catapult her own line, Gryson, into mass popularity. And everyone knows, once you become an 'it' designer, Target will come knocking on your door. The Gryson line for Target introduces the Bottega Veneta-like woven leather that Gryson uses in her own collections, in a sophisticated palate of hunter green, black, slate blue, and white.
