Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli - Miuccia Prada's husband - said recently that while counterfeit Prada bags aren't necessarily good for the company, they're not bad, either. Angelina Jolie's jewelry collection with Robert Procop - who designed her engagement ring for Brad Pitt - will be sold in selected stores this September. Vidal Sassoon Dies, Chanel Taps Brad Pitt, and Piperlime's New Store

Vidal Sassoon, often referred to as the "founder of hairdressing," was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday. Sassoon was 84. His death is attributed to an unspecified illness, but he has reportedly suffered from leukemia and was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2009. [The Huffington Post]
Chanel announced that it has selected Brad Pitt to be the face of its iconic fragrance Chanel No. 5. Pitt is the first man to be selected for the position. He joins Nicole Kidman, Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Tatou, and Marilyn Monroe on the list of the scent's ambassadors. [Chanel]
Piperlime is opening its first brick-and-mortar store in New York's SoHo neighborhood. A spokesman for the Gap-owned retailer said, "The store will have a women's focus. We will have clothing and we'll be showing our disproportionate love of shoes and accessories." [Racked]

Brad and Angelina Design Serpent-Themed Baby Gifts for Asprey

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a snake-themed capsule collection of jewlery and baby gifts for British brand Asprey. Titled "The Protector" because Jolie considers the serpent shape a protector of her family, the collection was designed and conceived entirely by Jolie and Pitt.

Pieces include silver baby gifts-a baby spoon, egg cup, tooth box, and picture frame-each with serpent details and reptile pendants, rings, and bracelets for adults made with gold and micropave diamonds. Jolie wore one of the pieces, an emerald and diamond bracelet, with Armani Prive to the BAFTA awards earlier this year.

According to WWD, Jolie and Pitt have been working on the collection for over a year. When available later this week in Asprey stores worldwide, prices will start at $525 (for the baby spoon) and all net proceeds will go to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a charity co-founded by Jolie in 2006.

Pitt's last foray into jewelry design-wedding bands for his 2000 marriage to Jennifer Aniston-resulted in a $50 million dollar lawsuit against jeweler Diamiani when the brand reportedly sold Brad and Jennifer knockoff rings. We hope his partnership with Asprey is a happier one and will wait with bated breath for the Angelina-fronted advertising campaign.

Revealed: Stefano Tonchi's First Cover Stars at W Magazine

>> The first peeks at Stefano Tonchi's stamp on W will come with the magazine's July issue, and a full redesign is planned for the September issue, but it's the August issue that will provide the first look at a Tonchi-overseen W cover: he's reportedly gone with Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall (costars in Ben Affleck's upcoming crime drama The Town)

It's not unheard of to have a couple cover at W - see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or, more recently, Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston - but the Hamm-Hall duo is shorter on mass appeal than past W cover choices - an interesting decision for a W that's said to have a more general-interest lifestyle directive under Tonchi. Also interesting: Hall was just featured on the cover of T last August, when Tonchi was editor of that magazine.
