Kate Middleton Dons British Brands Reiss and Whistles for Official Engagement Photos

>> Kate Middleton and Prince William's official engagement photos, which Mario Testino took last month at St. James's Palace (the British monarchy's official headquarters), were released over the weekend. “I’m very happy that I’ve been asked to cover this historic moment, that the whole world was waiting for,” Testino said in a statement. “They are in their prime and brimming with happiness. I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.”

Middleton's £385 ($611) Issa dress, which she wore to the engagement announcement, sold out within 24 hours; in the engagement photos, she wears a white dress from British brand Reiss, which is from the brand's Fall collection last season and no longer available (it is thought to have retailed for £159, or approximately $250), and a white blouse from British brand Whistles, which was still available yesterday for £95 (approx. $150).

Roksanda Illincic Does Cocktail Dresses for Whistles, Cruise 2010

>> Just last week, Roksanda Illincic signed on with British fast fashion chain Whistles (whose chief executive Jane Shepherdson, is credited with transforming Topshop into a place for the style savvy) to do a set of seven cocktail dresses to hit stores in early September. If her Cruise 2010 collection is any indication of what that collaboration will turn out like, expect shift dresses with shoulder pads, sculptural bows, and layers of ruffles: "I was inspired by the idea of transforming cocktail and evening dresses into something more approachable in terms of fabric," the designer explained.

Vividly printed on pencil skirts, sheath dresses, blouses, and jackets, the mirror-image patterns provided an intriguing foil to Tisci's other theme - basketball dressing. Sweatshirts, knits skirts, and tiny cropped sweaters - some with sporty mesh inlays and asymetrical silhouettes - added a casual feel, while bright orange handbags, athletic visors, coach-whistle necklaces and shoes with matchy-matchy prints tied everything together.

Your Guide to Spring 2011's Livestreamed Fashion Shows

>> The livestream is becoming mainstream this season, based on the number of designers incorporating the democratic viewing experience for Spring 2011. Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava, whose show was livestreamed today, gushed: “Oh, my God. It would have been the most exciting thing to be able to gather around, and geek out with your fashion friends like you can do today.”

Some designers are even starting to experiment with the technology. Burberry last season gave some viewers a 3-D livestream of its show, Marc Jacobs's upcoming stream will have unnamed "bells and whistles," according to the New York Times, and Alexander Wang, who for Fall 2010 livestreamed his show on a Times Square LED billboard, is planning to project a video of his Spring 2011 show - not live, but a couple of hours later at sundown as a moving billboard - at five different sites in Manhattan: Broadway and Houston; Bowery and Houston; Kenmare and Lafayette; West 10th St and 7th Ave; and Commerce and 7th Ave.

Frida Giannini Heads to Asia After Debuting Gucci Cruise 2010

Meanwhile, Frida departed for a tour of Asia today, stopping in Tokyo to pick up the award for International Designer of the Year from the Fashion Editor's Club of Japan on June 1, then heading to Beijing to visit the Radiant Children's Eye Hospital, of which Gucci is a donor, and finishing off in Shanghai, where she'll celebrate the opening of Gucci's new flagship.

>> Lara Stone is known for baring her breasts in most of her editorial spreads, inciting fanaticism in some and eliciting scoffs from others, but as she tells i-D in the November 2008 issue, she's tired of all the commotion: "Will you stop asking me questions about my tits? Oops sorry, but the world seems rather obsessed with them . . ." She graces the cover of the magazine, all chiseled cheeks, gap teeth and bleached eyebrows - no breasts in sight - but when the accompanying tagline reads, "Yes, I think I'm sexy," what does she expect?

The world's obsession started when Lara was young.

My mother tells me of when I was 10 or 11 and I would wear really tight, short skirts and crop tops. All the local men would wolf whistle and stop and stare, but I didn't realize why at the time.

But her mother did . . . and she wasn't sure what to do about it.

The first time she saw me naked she sent this whole long big email, that was sooo sweet. She had seen the pictures from Purple by Inez and Vinoodh of me, butt naked, in the studio. She was like 'Lara, if you don't want to do this, you can just say no, you can always move back home with us'. She's so sweet.
