Speaking of the Super Bowl, Vogue didn't charge Madonna to use its logo during her halftime show - in fact, Condé granted the singer permission to use the logo way back in early January. "We're so very grateful to Madonna to have been part of such a spectacular performance," Anna Wintour said. The performance was viewed by over 100 million people. [Styleite]

American Vogue isn't the only Condé glossy embracing the art of musical performance. In honor of the launch of French Vogue's new website, Emmanuelle Alt has filmed a video in which she dances and lip-synchs along to Wham's "Wake Me Up." Models Anja Rubik, Karmen Pedaru, Jasmine Tookes, and Kendra Spears serve as backup dancers. [French Vogue]

Alexander Wang will not be hosting his usual - and infamous - postshow party this Fashion Week. However, according to his publicists, the party will be back on next season. [The Cut]

The Best - and Worst - Selling Fashion Magazine Covers of 2011

>> The 2011 results are in: Sarah Jessica Parker, Heidi Klum, and Jennifer Aniston regularly and reliably pulled in the top sales at the newsstand, and Mila Kunis was the year's breakout cover star with some of the best-selling issues across titles. While the biggest-drawing names may not come as a surprise, here's what does: the inconsistent ability of some stars to bring in sales - Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and Emma Stone all had some of the best and worst performing covers of the year. Click through to see who else had cover hits and misses in 2011, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations and Rapid Report.

Gypsies Convinced Kate Moss To Get Married, She Tells September Vogue

>> Kate Moss tells Vogue's September 2011 issue - which she covers - that after a romantic trip to Thailand two years into her relationship with Jamie Hince, “we were just so loved up, and he asked me to marry him every day.” So what made her finally take the plunge, at 37? Apparently, the British TV series Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. “I am so romantic about gypsies,” Kate explains. “They’re not allowed to do anything until they get married. So they all get married really young, at sixteen. You can’t believe the dresses. They’re like blinging butterflies times ten; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius. I was just watching Jamie, so cute, and I was like, these girls, they just spend their whole life waiting for that day - let’s do it!”

“I’ve met them all throughout the years,” Mario Testino - who captured Vogue's extensive portfolio of Moss's wedding (she shifted her wedding date from Saturday to Friday to accommodate Testino's schedule) - says of Kate's past paramours, “but [Jamie] is the most real. He has a great sense of humor.”

But, as the wedding date nears, Hince “is terrified,” says Moss. As for herself: “Let’s put it this way. If I didn’t have my friends . . . I don’t know how people do it. I’ve had big birthday parties, and I’ve thrown parties for other people, but this is a completely different thing. It’s the Met Ball! Because you have to look at every piece of cutlery; the details are intense. And then you wake up thinking about the ballet shoes for the girls; is the satin ribbon right? I’ve gone mental. Jamie thinks I’m mad, asking, ‘Are you gonna be all right? After the wedding, I’m hoping you’ll get back to normal!’”

Of her vision of the wedding, Moss says: “I wanted it to be kind of dreamy and 1920s, when everything is soft-focus. The Great Gatsby. The code name was GG for a while. That light and that kind of fun decadence. It’s rock-’n’-roll Great Gatsby!”

It follows, then, that John Galliano, who designed Moss's wedding dress, was inspired by Jazz Age photographs of F. Scott's wife Zelda Fitzgerald. Moss says she wanted “a classic Galliano, those chiffon thirties kind. I’ve lived in his dresses for years, and they just make me feel so comfortable. But it’s so much more couture, couture, couture. Oh, my God, the work that’s going into the dress!”

As Vogue tells it: Moss and Galliano "discussed everything on the phone, and then, when John was out of rehab for the first of four marathon fittings, he brought her 'bags full of bits, and pulled tulle and sequins and veils and flowers out. And then we just kind of pinned things together, like the old days, you know?' The skirts are symbolically licked with the beaded plumes of a mythical phoenix, 'delicate and defiant, like Kate.'"

"She dared me to be John Galliano again,” the designer added. “I couldn’t pick up a pencil. It’s been my creative rehab.” The relationship goes both ways, though. Just before Moss, ever the model, sets off to her wedding church she requests “a few words, a story to inspire her - she loves a bit of direction!” Galliano says. “I told her, ‘You have a secret - you are the last of the English roses - and when he lifts your veil he’s going to see your wanton past!’”

Later, the favor is returned: When Kate's father thanks Galliano for “the beautiful dress,” every wedding guest stands in ovation, causing the designer's eyes to well up.

See Which Fashion Magazine Covers Have Sold Best - and Worst - So Far in 2011

>> Vogue was the only American fashion magazine to show a newsstand sales increase in the first half of 2011, thanks to its March Lady Gaga cover. The pink-haired Gaga image drove sales up by more than 100,000 copies over the March 2010 Vogue issue, which featured Tina Fey on the cover; and overall, the magazine averaged 360,000 copies at the newsstand during the first half of this year, up 12.7 percent.

Harper's Bazaar, meanwhile - which was up 10 percent during the first half of last year when the rest of fashion magazines were down - dropped 14.3 percent to 137,117. “It would be a lot easier if we could feature proven sellers like Jennifer Aniston or Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover every month, but we took some risks this year and tried stars that were a little outside of the norm for us, and they didn’t always translate into newsstand sales,” editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey admitted. Among those departures: Julianna Margulies for January 2011, Kim Kardashian for March 2011, and Courteney Cox for April 2011.

W - which has never relied on newsstand sales - was down 11.8 percent to 19,006, and Elle was down 9 percent to 250,056. See the big four's best and worst-selling covers for the first half of 2011 in the slideshow.

Eddie Borgo, Monique Pean Receive CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Grants from Tiffany & Co

>> As part of a new, three-year partnership between the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and Tiffany & Co. to support emerging jewelry designers, Monique Pean and Eddie Borgo were awarded grants - Pean received $150,000 and Borgo received $100,000. All nine jewelry designers who have been named CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists since the fund's inception in 2004 were eligible to apply for the grant; each was required to submit statements on their brand’s creative vision, their current collection, and their brand's financial information - including intended use for the grant.

Vogue Tops Other Fashion Magazines in September Ad Pages, Has Plans for a New Website

>> Vogue's September 2011 issue will boast 584 ad pages, with an increase of 50 pages - or 9.3 percent - over its September 2010 issue (By comparison, Vogue had its all-time high - pre-recession - in 2007, with 727 ad pages.). Elle's September 2011 issue was down 6.8 percent to 350 ad pages; Harper's Bazaar came in at 308, a 2.2 percent gain; and W increased 3 percent to 255 pages. When announcing the magazine's numbers yesterday, Vogue publisher Susan Plagemann added that Vogue plans to roll out another website aside from Vogue.com in December, but she wouldn't give further details. A First Look at Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's (Updated)

>> Almost seven years after his H&M collaboration, Karl Lagerfeld is back with another one-off mass collection, this time for Macy's. The 45-piece collection, which hits 235 of the 800-plus Macy's stores and Macys.com on Aug. 31, promises to incorporate Lagerfeld's signature style - read: high-collared pieces, as well as edgier, rock'n'roll looks - and run $50 to $170.

The August 2011 issue of Vogue provides a first look at the collection: a $109 dress that Lagerfeld describes as "a coup d'oeil to the dresses I designed for Chloe and the girlish, more romantic mood of the seventies." As for why he decided to work with Macy's on the collection for the past year, Lagerfeld says: "These partnerships are a working holiday from my normal discipline, and I like to think differently."

After Lagerfeld, Macy's will reportedly feature Giambattista Valli in November, and then for Holiday 2011, Lagerfeld will be back along with three other designers for more Macy's exclusives.

Dylan Lauren's Ralph Lauren Wedding Dress, Unveiled

>> The dress Ralph Lauren designed for daughter Dylan to wed hedge fund founder Paul Arrouet appears in the August 2011 issue of Vogue. Lauren, who reportedly consulted with Vera Wang on the dress's design, decided on a handmade duchesse-satin, silk-tulle, and georgette embroidered dress with a tiered, nine-foot train. "I had to do something that was better than ever before," he told Oprah before the June 2011 wedding, which took place at his 300-acre Westchester County, New York estate. "When you do something for your family or your daughter, I mean it's the only daughter I have - beautiful girl. I want to just give her something that she'd really treasure and give her something that would be really amazing. I want her to feel fantastic."

Lauren also designed the bridesmaid's dresses in Dylan's Candy Bar-logo colors, with specially-made Spanx if the wearer so opted. "I also was inspired by a New York Times front page of one of my father's Spring/Summer collections where they showed the finale lineup of all those vivid colors of satin evening dresses," Dylan explained.

Azzedine Alaia Fall 2011 Couture

>> After eight years of eschewing the runway, Azzedine Alaia closed out the Fall 2011 couture season. Models in velvet gowns and Mongolian lamb coats stomped out to Josephine Baker singing “Je suis snob” and Beyonce's "Girls Who Run the World," as guests Sofia Coppola (with daughter Romy Mars), Kanye West, and Donatella Versace looked on; no one from Vogue was said to be in attendance.

It took a 10-minute standing ovation and French culture minister Frederic Mitterrand dragging Alaia shyly from backstage for the designer to take a finale bow. Afterwards, Versace rushed backstage to congratulate the "master" designer: “It was amazing. I’m so glad I’m here. I wanna steal the boots actually, but I better not.” When asked why Mitterrand chose to attend only Alaia's show during couture, he replied: “Designers all have a world - but Alaia has a universe.”

Kate Moss Pops In at Glastonbury, Pre-Wedding

>> Kate Moss's nuptials are just days away, but she didn't miss her annual sojourn to the Glastonbury Festival over the weekend; Alexa Chung and Lily Donaldson turned up for the muddy musical festival, too.

Moss reportedly temporarily lost her engagement ring at fiance Jamie Hince's performance and then was turned away from Pulp's surprise set, but the weekend wasn't all bad luck. Moss was snapped with Hamish Bowles on her arm - it seems like he may be getting a headstart on Vogue's coverage of Moss's wedding, which is said to include a Mario Testino-shot cover (for the September 2011 issue) and accompanying feature story.
