Aliona Doletskaya Has a New Gig

>> Aliona Doletskaya, who resigned from editing Vogue Russia last year (and was once rumored to be in the running for Anna Wintour's position), has a new gig. She has teamed with Vladislav Doronin (Naomi Campbell's billionaire boyfriend) and Bernard Runge, CEO of Phillips de Pury & Company, to launch Russian and German editions of Interview magazine.

Doletskaya will edit both of the magazines (Interview Russia hits newsstands at the end of the year, followed by Interview Germany in early 2012), and Jo-Ann Furniss, who resigned as editor of Arena Homme Plus earlier this year, will act as international fashion director.

In a press release, Doletskaya said she was excited to work on magazines for two different countries: “Moscow and Berlin are cultural capitals of the modern world. The progressive, open-minded communities in those cities are booming. They have the drive and desire to grow, to discover, to move forward. Interview has always been a creative platform for talented individuals unafraid to break taboos and freely express their artistic vision. Now is the time to do so on this side of the ocean.”

>> Are Naomi Campbell and Vladislav Doronin getting married, as rumors have been purporting? Vogue thinks so - in a list of things 2011 will bring, the magazine included: "One can only imagine the stops Naomi Campbell will pull out for her upcoming wedding to Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin. Whether in Moscow or Marrakech, all we know for certain is that this is the one invitation that even the A-list will be angling for."

Originally, rumors had Campbell and Doronin marrying at the ancient Egyptian temple Luxor, which overlooks the Nile, over Dec. 7 and 8, but a representative of Egypt's Supreme Council for Antiquities, which overlooks the protection of archeological sites, said it had not been notified by Campbell of her desire to hold a wedding there. “Even if she asked for that, we would definitely refuse,” the representative said. “Our temples are not wedding halls. This is an insult."

Rumors have also pointed to Venice as a possible location for the wedding, with February 2011 as the reputed new time frame. Regardless, it would be a first marriage for Campbell.

Phoebe Philo, Lara Stone Take Top Prizes at 2010 British Fashion Awards

>> Phoebe Philo took this year's top prize - Designer of the Year - tonight at the British Fashion Awards over fellow nominees Erdem Moralioglu and Christopher Kane, while Lara Stone won the battle of the pretty faces, scoring Model of the Year over David Gandy and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Popular vote determined Alexa Chung winner of the British Style Award, recognizing "an individual who embodies the spirit of London and is an international ambassador for London as a leading creative fashion capital.” And Sarah Burton - who designed two dresses for Special Recognition awardee Naomi Campbell (for a 25 year-long career) to choose from for the festivities - accepted the posthumously-awarded Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design prize for Lee Alexander McQueen, noting, "We will always miss him."

Miuccia Prada Descends, Naomi Campbell Causes Commotion at the 2009 Venice Biennale

>> The Venice Biennale contemporary arts exhibition attracted plenty of familiar fashion faces by last Thursday, but it wouldn't have been complete without an appearance by contemporary art patron Miuccia Prada, who obliged on Friday with a party courtesy of the Fondazione Prada. The opening was temporarily put off by torrential rains, but still managed to attract the likes of Marc Jacobs, Lorenzo Martone, Franca Sozzani, Carine Roitfeld, Carla Sozzani, and Dasha Zhukova.

Many of the guests then carried on to Francois Pinault's Palazzo Grassi, where Gucci Group was sponsoring a party in honor of L'Uomo Vogue's art issue. Naomi Campbell - who one observer noted was keeping a lower profile than at the Biennale in 2007 - joined the crowd, apparently making quite the entrance with boyfriend Vladislav Doronin and his bodyguards and causing one guest to joke, "Does he need them to protect himself from Naomi?"

Venice Biennale Overflowing with Fashion Figures and Their Families

>> Where art goes, fashion is soon to follow, and with the contemporary arts Biennale going on in Venice right now, there are plenty of designers, editors, and even models in town. On Wednesday, Olympia Scarry’s installation brought out Patrick Demarchelier, Vogue Russia's Aliona Doletskaya, and POP's Dasha Zhukova, as well as Justin Portman and Natalia Vodianova, the latter whose face was reflected in a luminated, aged sketch on display called Dorian Gray, by artist Dasha Fursey.

Naomi Campbell and boyfriend Vladislav Doronin stopped by a lunch for the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, and popped up again yesterday at the opening of Francois Pinault's new museum, the Punta della Dogana. Stella McCartney was there with husband Alasdhair Willis to support her financier in his new endeavor, as were Franca Sozzani and Marc Jacobs, always the fan of contemporary art, who apparently kept exclaiming, "This place rocks."

Meanwhile, down the river, Angela Missoni held her annual party on boyfriend Bruno Ragazzi's yacht. It was quite the family and friends affair: Angela's daughters Margherita and Teresa, plus son Francesco were all mingling, Franca Sozzani brought son Francesco Carrozzini, and Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld arrived with Carine Roitfeld, who neglected to follow the rest in taking her lace-up shoes off: "It would just take too long to undo them." Bee Shaffer was sans Anna Wintour, but Jefferson Hack brought fiancee Anouck Lepere.

Even those who aren't in Venice in person are there in spirit - Mario Testino sent one of his art consultants to scout the exhibition.

Karl Lagerfeld Hates Swans, Borscht, and Cell Phones, But Likes Naomi Campbell's Boyfriend

>> May was a whirlwind month for Karl Lagerfeld. He staged a cruise show in Venice, spent some time filming a ballerina while talking swans - "They are the meanest animals in the world, you know. I had problems with them as a child. They hate children. I was caught by one, so I know" - and how dancers are favorable to actresses - "Elena [Glurdjidze], she made everyone here [at the tutu fitting] happy today. And you don't get that from actresses, when they come, hmm? Elena has charm. Others, not so much. Don't ask me names."

Then, he finished up the month in Moscow - visiting the city for his first time ever on Thursday - for a presentation of Chanel's Paris-Moscow collection which first debuted last December; the show marked the first time a Chanel collection has been located in Moscow since 1967.

It must have been a short trip - he didn't even have time to do sightseeing at the Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral, which were near his hotel. “Moscow is a city I knew quite well without coming here because I’m an informed person - there are so many books, novels, photos, that in a way I know it . . . I have a feeling I know exactly what is in every museum,” Karl quipped. He explained that he prefers imagining a place to visiting it: "You’re never disappointed by your imagination, but you can be very disappointed by reality.”

Police in Pursuit of Naomi Campbell After She Assaulted Driver, Fled from Scene

>> New York City police are on the hunt for Naomi Campbell after she assaulted her limo driver in Midtown this afternoon. They are considering whether to charge the model; her 27-year-old driver says she become angry with him while he was driving her around Manhattan, and she started to slap and punch him from the back seat of his Cadillac Escalade.

When the driver stopped the car at E. 58th Street and Second Avenue just after 3 pm and called 911, Campbell reportedly jumped out of the car and ran away; she was last seen exiting the scene. Police are canvassing the area and messages left with Campbell spokesman Jeff Raymond were not returned.

UPDATE: The driver, Miodrag Mejdina, has declined to press charges, though suffered bruising and swelling under an eye - he said that Campbell struck on the back of the head while he was driving, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel. Mejdina had been hired to chaffeur Campbell's boyfriend, the still married Vladislav Doronin, a year ago, and Campbell had tried to call both men, but neither picked up their phone. She was mulling over the accident again yesterday, according to the driver, and accused Medjina for covering for Doronin before slapping him. Campbell's spokesman noted of the incident: “There shouldn’t be a rush to judgment. There is more to the story than meets the eye.” [NYDN, NY Times]

>> Two weekends ago, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana docked their yacht in Capri to party with Naomi Campbell and her boyfriend Vladislav Doronin, and it appears that the fun hasn't stopped: On Sunday, they popped up in the Aeolian Islands of Italy with former house model - and current Vogue L'Uomo editor - Giovanna Battaglia and Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld, where they did a little window shopping before stopping for lunch. Giovanna has earned plenty of attention for her dressed-up Fashion Week-ready style - of which she told the New York Times:

I’m classic. I’m not a rock ’n’ roll chick. And I like to mix old and new. I’ll never wear a full look from a fashion show. It has to be personalized. Accessories have always been a big thing for me. I have 352 pairs of shoes. I’m not kidding. I have a wall filled with them, and then another for handbags. I never throw anything away.

But as for vacation attire, it's all about denim cutoffs, and later, she strolled to the beach wearing a lace dress as coverup.
