>> Victoria Beckham For October Elle, Not Vogue; Michelle Obama to Be on Vogue Cover Again? — Though rumors placed Victoria Beckham on the October issue of Vogue, she's said to be fronting the October issue of Elle instead. And Michelle Obama, whose March 2009 cover of Vogue sold 560,000 newsstand copies (by comparison, Vogue's September 2008 issue sold 559,000 copies) may be back soon for another cover. This month's i-D hints: "In New York, the staff of American Vogue put finishing touches on an unprecedented second cover featuring a sitting First Lady who is black and beautiful." [The Cut, TFS]

Victoria Beckham Debuts New Short Film for Collection, To Make Fashion's Night Out Appearance at Bergdorf

>> Victoria Beckham recently let her Giorgio Armani contract expire so that she could focus more on her beauty and fashion lines; she's said to be showing her Victoria Beckham Collection — which Roland Mouret has assisted her with in the past — at New York Fashion Week again for Spring 2010, but this weekend, she's releasing a short film featuring her Fall 2009 collection (with Mouret's sharply tailored handiwork visible) online.
This is her second foray into the fashion promo film arena — her first effort, for Spring 2009, came out at the end of last year. The new short, "Swings," features eight models, perched on rope swings, moving in unison — plus a cameo by Beckham — and was filmed in a single take in London last month. Matt Jerrett directed and Beckham's (and Mouret's) backer, 19 Entertainment, produced. The film debuts Sunday on BergdorfGoodman.com, to promote Beckham's appearance at the New York store during Fashion's Night Out Sept. 10, and DazedDigital, which has the UK exclusive, is posting the full film Sunday at 3 pm UK time.
Victoria Beckham Leaves Armani Underwear Campaign to Focus on Designing; Megan Fox to Replace Her?
>> Just days after her latest Emporio Armani underwear ad came out, Victoria Beckham has decided not to renew her one-year contract — which was announced at the end of last October — in order to focus on her own fashion and beauty lines. In fact, in early September, she will be back at New York Fashion Week to show her Victoria Beckham Collection, which Roland Mouret has helped her with in the past.
So who's going to fill the spot she just left for Armani underwear? Elle creative director Joe Zee reports: "LA is buzzing that Megan Fox is signed to replace her." Fox would make sense; she did just attend the Armani Prive couture show at the beginning of July.

>> THE MODELIZER —A year ago, WWD reported that one-third of the New York shows didn't employ models of color, but according to Jezebel's calculations, spots given to models of color increased six percent this season. Among those shows with the highest diversity: Oscar de la Renta, Victoria Beckham, Tracy Reese, Sophie Theallet; those using no models of color included: Julian Louie, Koi Suwannagate, Temperley London, and Vera Wang Lavender Label. Celebrities Challenging Models' Hold at Monday Night's CFDA Awards
>> The models may be winning the ad campaign race for Fall — besides a couple of notable exceptions, Charlotte Gainsbourg for Balenciaga and Vanessa Paradis for Miu Miu — but celebrities are taking over at the CFDA Awards on Monday night.
The Womenswear Designer of the Year award will be presented by the trio of Victoria Beckham (representing nominee Marc Jacobs), Eva Mendes (for nominee Calvin Klein), and Maggie Gyllenhaal (fronting nominee Proenza Schouler). Meanwhile, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are announcing the Accessory Designer of the Year, and Mandy Moore is doing the Swarovski Award honors. Let's hope there still some models out there in the crowd for posterity . . .
