Carine Roitfeld to Guest Edit the Spring Issue of VMan

>> Carine Roitfeld is adding yet another gig to her ever-growing list : guest editor of the Spring issue of VMan. Hitting newsstands Feb. 14, the issue will feature "real people" wearing designer clothing and photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, Michael Avedon, and Jean-Baptiste Mondino. "I like men trendy, but not fashion victims. It's more effortless," Roitfeld explained of her choice to cast nonmodels. Nick Knight photographed French actor Tahar Rahim for the cover, and a bonus pinup calendar (left) - featuring supermodels and Victoria's Secret Angels photographed by Willy Vanderperre - will supplement the issue.

>> V magazine collaborated with Carine Roitfeld on its first model covers in two years. The issue, on newsstands Nov. 8, featured four covers with two models apiece, styled by Roitfeld and photographed by Terry Richardson: Candice Swanepoel and Joan Smalls; Daphne Groeneveld and Saskia de Brauw; Sui He and Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, and Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Lindsey Wixson.

“It’s a big moment of change in fashion. In some cases, you feel like it’s the end of an era. I have been feeling this with cover subjects, and especially models,” Roitfeld explained. “These eight girls are unique, not one is like the other. Candice is the only blonde and blue-eyed of this new generation of supermodels. Joan is black, Sui He is Asian, Hanaa is North African. It’s their diversity that makes each of them, to me, truly modern. They bring a new energy to fashion.” The magazine plans to celebrate the issue on Sunday with a Halloween party at the gay nightclub Escuelita, hosted by Richardson, Swanepoel, Smalls, Northwood-Blyth and He.

Roitfeld styled V's very first cover featuring Jude Law back in 1999, and Stephen Gan confirmed last Thursday that she recently asked if she could come back to work for the magazine: “My stage is always open to her and she can perform anytime she wants to on it. She wants it to be a surprise, but it’s for the September issue. We leave for Europe tomorrow, and we will work with Mario Testino. Adriana Lima, Lily Donaldson, Eniko Mihalik, Isabeli Fontana, and Natasha Poly appear on the five covers of V magazine (issue #66) "The Sexy Body Issue." Mario Sorrenti photographed the bombshell bodies in some seriously revealing poses, and shockingly, there's more skin to uncover. The "V" on four of the steamy covers (Adriana Lima opted out) can be scratched off to reveal body parts that were carefully covered with the magazine's logo. The limited-edition scratch-off covers are being sold exclusively online at vmagazine.com starting today.

Frenzy over the World Cup hasn't escaped the fashion world, and our favorite soccer-inspired editorial comes from V magazine's "The Sexy Body Issue." Photographed by Sebastian Faena, Alessandra Ambrosio, Eniko Mihalik, Maryna Linchuk, Dree Hemingway, and Constance Jablonski appear in a 12-page spread inspired by Argentine footballers' wives. The layout is not unlike a South American celebrity gossip mag with photos of a breast-feeding Maryna and Dree in head to toe leopard print complete with sensational headlines like "Scandal! Girls Banned From Smoking!"

V magazine issue #66 also features the 50 hottest bodies in the world, and will be on newsstands July 8.

In a mix of body-baring looks from Givenchy, Balmain, Azzedine Alaïa, Rick Owens, and Yves Saint Laurent, Jamie Bochert poses with the American Ballet Theater's James Applewhite in a 20-page spread for V magazine's "Summer Scorcher" issue. In front of the camera lens of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and with styling by Joe McKenna, Bochert transforms into a bronzed goddess with a penchant for acid hues and leopard prints. V magazine, issue #65 with cover girl Scarlett Johansson, is on newsstands today.
