Highlights From Toronto's Spring 2010 Fashion Week

All the hubbub from New York, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks has died down, and the runway action has moved on Toronto. The Canadian city played host last week to their own string of Spring 2010 presentations, and we took a peek at a few looks that stood out from the pack - including one special cameo from Theodora Richards.

Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld Launches First Photography Exhibit

>> Last night marked the opening of Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld's Louis Vuitton-sponsored, curated exhibit of three photographers and close friends of his - PC Valmorbida (boyfriend of Theodora Richards), David Mushegain and Salim Langatta. Both the party and after-party at Indochine (a Roitfeld favorite) were super crowded - the latter hit capacity and saw Carine Roitfeld dancing on the restaurant's banquettes. Sister Julia, girlfriend Lily Donaldson, and godfather Mario Testino were all in attendance, as were a number of other fashion folk - Lara Stone, Erin Wasson, Gisele Bundchen. And Carine was proud of her son's current career choice - according to Vladimir, it was his parents who pushed him to move to the US - "I don't know if he will do more shows or film, but when you try to produce things, it's a hard hard job, and I'm very proud of him. I'll be very happy if he becomes successful."

Society's fall philanthropy season is in full swing and last night's 2008 Whitney Studio Party proved that socials aren't quite ready for private anonymous philanthropy just yet. Entitled Past Present Future the evening was underwritten by Versace which provided plenty of body conscious garments for the tight and toned bodies that seemed impervious to the chill in the New York air last night.

Diane von Furstenberg's Future Daughter-in-Law Ali Kay To Show During New York Fashion Week

>> She may be most known for a set of scandal-inducing cell phone photos, or for her starring role in the Diane von Furstenberg campaign for the second season running, but now Ali Kay - fiancee of Diane's son Alexander von Furstenberg - appears to be courting the fashion press.

She's holding her first fashion show, for her loungewear line Keep Me, on Wednesday, September 15 during New York Fashion Week. The event will be held at the downtown nightclub Capitale (the former site of Baby Phat's fashion shows). And the Miami native isn't going it alone: Her collection will share the runway with Prince Peter and Mick Rock's t-shirt collaboration, and Jamison Ernest's downtown streetwear line Yellow Fever, which often features contributions from friends like Theodora Richards and Vincent Gallo. But with Kay's collection on the runway, a DVF sighting wouldn't be out of the question.

Fashion's Night Out Will Bring Anna Wintour To Queens, Hamish Bowles To Juicy Couture, and the Olsens To Bartend at Barneys

>> The roster of events for Anna Wintour's international shopping extravaganza on Sept. 10, Fashion's Night Out, has been rolled out, and as Anna put it in the press release: “Little did I think when the idea of Fashion’s Night Out was first dreamed up this past March during the Paris collections that we would have over 700 and counting retailers, designers, and brands joining us on the night of September 10. There is so much planned that we could shop till dawn and still not see and do everything.”

Wintour kicks everything off, along with Michael Kors and "a surprise celebrity guest," at Macy's Queen Center location at 5 pm and will sign t-shirts for the first 50 customers. That event just so happens to be ten minutes away from a US Open tennis match Roger Federer will likely play that same day at 7 pm (and thus Anna will likely attend).
