>> T's Karla Martinez to Interview; Teen Vogue's Taylor Tomasi to Marie Claire? —Back in July, it was rumored that T editor Stefano Tonchi might be jumping ship to Vogue, but it's his market director, Karla Martinez, who is confirmed to be leaving the recently downsized magazine for a market director position at Interview. Meanwhile, Teen Vogue's accessories director Taylor Tomasi, who has accumulated a style following, is said to be leaving the magazine for Marie Claire and the magazine's fashion director Nina Garcia, the latter who just happened to film for an episode of the CW's upcoming The Beautiful Life (Zac Posen is in the series premiere). T Magazine
>> T's Stefano Tonchi Jumping Ship to Vogue? —With all the suffering at the New York Times and the recent downsizing of its T style magazine, rumors are starting to fly that the magazine's editor Stefano Tonchi — who always attends couture but was mysteriously missing from the Paris shows last week (in fact, all of T was) — is in the running for a top job at Vogue. The position in question is not Anna Wintour's, so where would he sit? He's previously worked as fashion director at L'Uomo Vogue and fashion creative director at Esquire . . . [FWD]
CFDA Swarovski Nominees Pair with Editors and Stylist for Short Films
>> All 21 designers nominated for the 2009 CFDA Awards have been photographed by Craig McDean for the CFDA Journal, but the nine who are Swarovski emerging designer nominees will also be featured in individual short films, along with an editor or stylist of their choice, to be shown at the June 15 ceremony.
The shorts, directed by Michael Palmieri and still photographed by Jennifer Livingston, feature designers Thakoon Panichgul, Jason Wu (who partnered with T fashion director Anne Christensen, left), Alexander Wang, Justin Giunta (who picked Harper's Bazaar accessories director Ana Maria Pimentel), Alejandro Ingelmo, Albertus Swanepoel, Patrick Ervell (who shot with V fashion editor Jay Massacret), Tim Hamilton and Robert Geller. The films also feature editors Anne Slowey, Brian Coats, Brian Molloy, Kate Lanphear, Camilla Nickerson and Melanie Ward.
T Magazine Downsized; Mixte Magazine Folds
>> The print casualties aren't done: the Women's Summer issue of T magazine will appear as a 24-page "bonus section" of the New York Times Magazine this Sunday instead of its usual stand-alone issue, and now word comes that French style magazine Mixte announced it's folding — the forthcoming June 2009 issue will be its last. Vogue Paris fashion director Emmanuelle Alt is an alum of the cult magazine, and its vividly colored covers (a few of our recent favorites below) and innovative spreads will be sorely missed.

Coachella Spawns Slimane Sighting, New York Times Fashion Shoot
>> Crowds will always flock to Indio for Coachella, and over the weekend, the fashion flock was well-represented. Agyness Deyn was photographed mid-smooch, confirming speculation that she has moved on from ex-fiance Albert Hammond, Jr. with Phantom Planet's Alex Greenwald and cementing her status as another British model with a thing for musicians.
Henry Holland, in town to pal around with Agy and see the shows, spotted Hedi Slimane "wandering around with a camera in all black." Yesterday morning, Slimane was still in town, scouting and taking breakfast at the newly-opened Ace Hotel in nearby Palm Springs. Also going down at the Ace over the weekend, a New York Times fashion shoot with photographer Sebastian Kim, which must be for an upcoming T magazine.
Alexander Wang, in LA to launch his shop-in-shop for Opening Ceremony that will feature exclusive merchandise involving fur and exotic skins starting in the Fall, hit Coachella in a Land Rover with Zoe Kravitz; Jeremy Scott and Daisy Lowe also made festival appearances.

Le Monde Launches T Magazine-Inspired M with Audrey Marnay
>> New York Times T Magazine envy has now gone global. At the beginning of this month, Le Monde launched the creatively-named M, its version of a lifestyle magazine, which has apparently been under development for a year and will publish monthly, making it slightly less frequent than T, which publishes 15 times a year. Matthias Vriens photographed the first cover with Audrey Marnay, plus an accompanying model-filled editorial inside; so far, the look is much more on par with a fashion magazine than the other T-inspired spinoff: The Wall Street Journal's WSJ.
>> INSIDER WIRE —New York Times's T magazine — which just last weekend brought us tidbits about Giambattista Valli's last-minute bow-out as successor to Valentino, Katie Grand's love for rabbits, guinea pigs, and Muppets, and Oscar de la Renta's fear of being alone, may be in jeopardy. The magazine has been scaled back from 15 to 12 issues a year, and there are internal rumblings that it may fold or end up as a special section within the main New York Times Sunday Magazine. [NY Post]
UPDATE: A spokeswoman clarified there will be 13 issues, not 12, and two of the four fashion issues published will be absorbed into the Sunday Magazine. [The Cut]
>> BLOWING THE COVER —The New York Times's T Women's Fashion issue for Winter 2008 sounds French-themed: Paolo Roversi photographed Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Paris last week for the issue; there's a "New French Wave" portfolio of artists, musicians, actors, and directors; and even a profile on Balmain's own Christophe Decarnin.
