Anthony Vaccarello Wins 2011 the ANDAM Prize

>> Newcomer Anthony Vaccarello, the 31-year-old Paris-based Belgian designer who just presented his first show in March during Paris Fashion Week, has won the 2011 ANDAM prize.

Vaccarello, who beat out fellow nominees Adam Kimmel, Commuun, Jeremy Laing, Matthew Harding, and Yiqing Yin, takes home 200,000 euros ($288,540), plus 10,000 euros ($14,427) worth of Swarovski crystals to use on his Spring 2012 collection. "This award is a vote of confidence for me, and it means I can continue to show. Perhaps this will help me find a financial partner," the designer said.

He was previously recruited by Karl Lagerfeld to Fendi, where he spent two years before starting his own label, and for his debut show in March, he worked with Alex de Betak (who typically produces shows for global brands like Dior) on a psychedelic light show; Emmanuelle Alt (who also happened to be part of this year's ANDAM jury panel) was front row.

Daisy Lowe is the latest guest designer for Swarovski Crystallized, and her new collection consists of three youthful looks-a necklace, bracelet, and earrings-which Lowe says are "about the earth, moon, and planetary movements." Deep thoughts aside, the we can't argue with the cute factor of these pieces, which are quite the opposite of recent Crystallized collaborations with Jean Paul Gaultier, Philip Crangi, and Jonathan Saunders. Fashion Descends on Miami For Art Basel (Updated)

Swarovski hosted a dinner at Soho Beach House, Dior unveiled its first pop-up shop - and first artist collaboration, with Anselm Reyle - and Fendi opened its "Craft Alchemy" installation, drawing a colorfully dressed crowd that included Giovanna Battaglia, Naomi Campbell, and Dasha Zhukova.

Lauren Bush's Ralph Lauren Wedding Dress, Unveiled

>> Lauren Bush and David Lauren were married over Labor Day after at his family's 17,000-acre Double RL ranch in Ridgway, Colorado, before some 200 guests. Now, a few pictures - including engagement shots -have been released in the upcoming December 2011 issue of Vogue.

The general look of the wedding - which included a rodeo the day after the ceremony - was “rustic elegance,” Bush Lauren explained. “A beautiful movie,” David adds, “like you were riding across the Old West and you stopped in at a wedding.”

Bush Lauren wore Ralph Lauren on her wedding day, of course. She and the designer had a few casual conversations about the sort of dress she'd like at family meals and holiday weekends, and then in late June they met at the Ralph Lauren studio for an official design meeting. “I walked in, and there were these beautiful illustrations of the looks we’d discussed with my face on them,” she recalls. “It was like a dream come true. We sat together and arrived at this silhouette. It isn’t Victorian exactly. I wanted something modern as well, so there is the high-necked collar and puffed shoulders with the large open back.”

The long-sleeved gown was the product of 100 craftspeople spending more than 3,000 hours hand-embroidering featherweight, antique ivory tulle with flower motifs and scroll designs using ivory silk and metallic thread, Swarovski Elements crystals, and off-white pearl beads. The bride and her five bridesmaids - who were dressed in white linen blouses, vests, and vintage prairie skirts - all wore cowboy boots. Bush Lauren's something new? The dress and boots. Her something old? Her headpiece. Her something borrowed? Victorian earrings from a friend. And her something blue? “I wore blue socks,” she laughed.
