His first ever campaign, with Karmen Pedaru set against a beach simulated at Pier 59 in New York, symbolizes his philosophy that "this is not a moment to be scared or meek." Solve Sundbo did the photog honors Tuesday - outtake from the shoot above - and the final product, which hits August issues, is expected to be "bold and cinematic, with lush techno color." [WWD]

Brian Atwood, Rene Russo Collaborate On a Little Shoe Fetishism

>> Designers seem to have a new fixation on pairing mature women with younger men when it comes to advertising their accessories. First, Karl Lagerfeld paired up 52-year-old Jerry Hall with Baptiste Giabiconi for Chanel handbags, and now, Brian Atwood cast 55-year-old Rene Russo to sex his Spring 2009 footwear up with Jon Kortajarena, Tom Ford-style (Jon is even Tom's campaign model of choice). The steamy scenes were shot by Tony Duran over a period of two days at Russo's home, and are being collected in a limited-edition book, Role Play Rene, for Atwood to pass out. Russo and Atwood didn't even meet until the shoot, but celebrated the 1,000 editions last night with a dinner in LA and tonight, will be feting again in New York tonight at a party hosted by Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.

>> The heyday hasn't slowed down for models pushing forty this season - Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington - and now a couple of fifty-something models are issuing something of a comeback. First, 51-year-old Ines de la Fressange took the Jean Paul Gaultier couture runway a couple of weeks ago, and now 52-year-old Jerry Hall is mugging for (and replacing Christy Turlington in) Chanel's handbag campaign, along with Baptiste Giabiconi, who seems to have replaced Brad Kroenig as Karl Lagerfeld's male model of choice.

Karl picked Jerry to shoot because, as "Oscar Wilde said, 'I like men who have a future, and women who have a past.' It is this whole idea of seduction that is summarised here that appeals to me. One of a very young man fascinated and attracted by what a woman does: her wardrobe, her perfume, her movements, her allure, etc." And to imagine, he's known Jerry since she was 15 . . .

>> Last season, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld mugged for British chain Accessorize, and this season both she and her brother, Vladimir, are appearing in ads for Spanish chain Mango. This isn't the first time they've worked together for a brand - Julia art directed the Fall 2008 Rock & Republic campaign that Vladimir appeared in - but as the mind recalls, this is the first time they've been faces for a brand together. Carine's influence runs through both - Julia is styled like a portrait of her mother in these ads, with the kohl-rimmed eyes and brown hair flopping over one eyes; and Vladimir has taken his mother's favorite cause, amfAR, as his own - he's curating a photography exhibit during Fashion Week to benefit the foundation.

What's so bad about it anyway? It's very human." The Spring 2009 Jean Paul Gaultier ads have her going natural - but in a different way than usual - Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin captured her with the ankle wrap she had to wear in real life late last year, as a result of a little Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte heel trouble. She's told numerous magazines that she "can't walk in high heels," and that walking the runway terrifies her because of it; she should take note - apparently ankle wraps get her out of having to wear heels on the job at all.
