Naomi Campbell Guest Edits Vogue Russia's Naomi-Only April 2010 Issue

>> The single-model issue concept is picking up steam, and it's only logical that Naomi Campbell, newly a Russian resident, should have an entire issue of Vogue Russia. Editor Aliona Doletskaya says of the April 2010 issue, which is dedicated to Naomi and which the model helped edit [Editor's note: loosely translated from Russian]: "I wanted to debunk a few myths surrounding Naomi. When I suggested the concept, she immediately came and for an hour and a half laid out stories, photography, interviews and other sections. Clearly, quickly, and in a businesslike manner."

In the issue, out March 25, Christian Louboutin, Chanel Iman, Claudia Schiffer, Mario Testino, and more were prompted to ask Naomi what they have previously hesistated to ask her. Steven Meisel, Tom Munro, Matt Irwin, and Solve Sundsbo photographed the model's editorials.

V Magazine's Size Issue Preview #2

We showed you the first Terry Richardson images of Crystal Renn along side Jacquelyn Jablonski in "One Size Fits All' for V magazine's much talked about size issue, and now photos of a second editorial, "Curves Ahead" are being released. Photographed by Solve Sundsbo, the feature includes images of models Candice Huffine, Marquita Pring, Michelle Olson, Tara Lynn, and Kasia P. wearing Gucci swimwear, Guess jeans, or nothing at all.

The issue (#63) will be on newsstands January 14.

>> Vivid, graphic images are taking over: Christopher Kane searched the UK Ministry of Defense's website for the nuclear test images that showed up on his Resort 2010 dresses, and now Paris-based creative studio and clothing label Surface to Air has paired with photographer Solve Sundsbo to translate three of his works onto a limited-edition set of a printed silk dress, printed silk top, and printed bag ($200) for each. “We were looking for images that could create surprising pieces,” Aldric Speer, Surface to Air’s brand designer, told the New York Times. The collection will be available next month from Art + Commerce, Surface to Air, and Barneys New York.

His first ever campaign, with Karmen Pedaru set against a beach simulated at Pier 59 in New York, symbolizes his philosophy that "this is not a moment to be scared or meek." Solve Sundbo did the photog honors Tuesday - outtake from the shoot above - and the final product, which hits August issues, is expected to be "bold and cinematic, with lush techno color." [WWD]

>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL -We've seen bits and pieces of Matthew Williamson's H&M line - and here's a video interview with him talking about the collection - but now we've got a glimpse of the first campaign image with Daria Werbowy. Model and designer traveled all the way to Mexico to shoot what could be a studio shot, but the airtime was done for the sunlight on the Mexican beach. Grazia has behind-the-scenes pictures of the shoot with Solve Sundsbo, Daria posing on a platform of water. Matthew is also supposed to be in the campaign, but we'll have to wait for subsequent shots to see that. [Fem, Grazia]

>> Matthew Williamson's colorful range for H&M doesn't hit stores until April 23 (with more Summer pieces following mid-May), but previews are already hitting the web, featuring a wide-sleeved sequin minidress (below), $200, a cobalt blue silk suit with fuschia piping, and a tan leather jacket with neon piping among them. Unfortunately, we have to wait until May issues break to see the campaign, shot by Solve Sundsbo with Williamson and Daria Werbowy in Mexico.

Twelve British Models, Twelve i-D Covers for March 2009

>> Last week, Edward Enninful was in Goa, India, styling a shoot for Vogue, but this week, it's all about i-D and England - he brought together twelve British faces - past and present - for i-D's March 2009 Best of British issue. "The confirmations were instant - it was about doing something for England, and models have been so faceless - British models always have personality."

Together with Solve Sundsbo, Enninful styled each of the twelve covers to bring out the character of the individual model - "I went though a great thought process - we didn't want clichés and stereotypes" - "rock 'n' roll Kate" Moss as a mature woman and fashion designer, "ageless" British models like Twiggy, newcomer Eliza Cummins, who is also moonlighting on the new Dazed & Confused (NSFW), symbolizing British grit with a snarl. To further the emphasis on personality, each cover face has her own cover quote summing up her outlook, from Stella Tennant - "I don't really fit the box" - to Agyness Deyn - "Feel the fear and do it anyway." Leave it to Naomi Campbell to bring the non sequitur: "I love a Sunday roast."
