Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, the singer and style star we all know and love as Lady Gaga, turned 26 years old today. A fan tweeted to Gaga to ask her how she planned to celebrate, and she replied "Quinceañera." [MTV Style]

T Magazine editor Sally Singer confessed to being just as obsessed with nail art as the rest of the fashion world when she collaborated with photographer Raymond Meier and manicurist Maki Sakamoto on a series of photos of her ideal nail art looks. "I had an idea for left wing nails-a left hand with the symbols for different socialist parties on each fingernail, and the right hand could just be painted black," she said. [Nowness]

Iconic photographer Bruce Weber created a short film for ubiquitous mall brand Abercrombie & Fitch that features a group of half-naked young men writhing around in a shower together before one of them plants a tender kiss on the forehead of another. Weber has created slightly homoerotic campaigns and imagery for the brand in the past, but this is the first one to actually touch the issue - pun intended - first hand. [Styleite]

Model and humanitarian Liya Kebede is the star of a new French children's film called Sur la piste du Marsupilami, about a reporter on the hunt for an animal that may or may not exist. Kebede plays Queen Paya, leader of a mystical realm called (we know, stay with us) Palombia, in which she dances and does "magical things with balls of light." [The Cut]

Designer Victoria Beckham is on the cover of the April issue of Harper's Bazaar UK. The magazine dubbed her Queen Victoria in reference to her continued climb up the ranks of British fashion designers, and in a nod to Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, which is being celebrated this year. Horacio Silva Exits T Magazine

>> T's online director Horacio Silva, who has been working at the New York Times's fashion magazines for just over ten years now, has stepped down. "It's no secret I've been toying with the idea," he said. Silva was reportedly vying to replace Stefano Tonchi as T editor a year ago, a position which eventually went to Sally Singer. Silva noticeably doesn't mention Singer when saying he's grateful for the people he's worked with: "I have had the privilege of working with some amazing people, including three of the best editors T has gone through. Amy Spindler, Stefano Tonchi, and Andy Port." As for Silva's future plans, he says he has a number of brand clients lined up for consulting work. "It's an interesting time right now as the lines between editorial and advertising are becoming more and more nebulous, it'll be interesting to be in the forefront there," he explained. Apparently into a Mick Jagger cover, shot by photographer Max Vadukul for Singer's first issue - Holiday-centric, and out Dec. 5. Singer has also reportedly assigned a piece on autism for the issue - causing some to draw similarities to the New York Times Magazine's subject matter (as opposed to Stefano Tonchi's more stylized, ad-heavy take on the book), but when contacted for comment, Singer emailed from Paris: "I don't really feel comfortable discussing the holiday issue because it's still being put together and all sorts of things could happen." >> There was no shortage of attendees last Thursday at the Spotted Pig in Manhattan, gathered in honor of Sally Singer's recent appointment as editor of T magazine. Singer was reportedly bashful about being the guest of honor as designers, friends, and Vogue cohorts all gathered to say their congratulations - among them Anna Wintour, who was one of the first to arrive - and Marco Zanini, creative director of Rochas, who flew in just for the event. Singer, who will debut her first issue for T on Dec. 5 (her first fashion issue doesn't come until February), is apparently done with hiring - she stated at the party that her staff of 40 at the magazine is set.

New York Treated to a Karl Lagerfeld Appearance at Chanel's Soho Store Re-Opening Last Night

>> Baptiste Giabiconi was rumored to make his singing debut at the Chanel Soho store party in New York last night - Karl Lagerfeld is reportedly pushing him to be a pop star - but apparently he got cold feet. Instead, guests were treated to the redone store, cordoned off from the public by a LED display wall playing Chanel videos and brimming with editors (Sally Singer, Robbie Myers, Cecilia Dean, Amy Astley); models (Heidi Mount, Jessica Stam, Magdalena Frackowiak, Anja Rubik, Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Erin Wasson, Shalom Harlow, Crystal Renn); and Chanel favorites like Poppy Delevigne, Caroline Sieber, Diane Kruger, Liv Tyler, Courtney Love, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Alexa Chung, who was DJing the party, asked last night if she could buy the new Chanel Les Khakis nail polish (which came out today), but she was told she had to wait until this morning to pick it up. And before Lagerfeld arrived, publicists scraped graffiti stickers, posters, and fliers off the scaffolding by the red carpet. They even had box cutters to scrape off tape and remnants. But that wasn't the only prep done in anticipation of Lagerfeld's arrival: The Daily reports from sources working in the building that houses the Soho boutique that Lagerfeld also demanded his own private bathroom to use during the party, and thus, one was built.

Waiters stood by holding trays of Chanel-logoed spray paint cans which could be used to tag a LED wall near the store's entrance, and the gift bag held a silk scarf printed with a polar bear among camellias. Lagerfeld also took the opportunity to show off his new discovery, 19-year-old French singer Izia, who took the stage at the party (thus intimidating Giabiconi).

Sally Singer Finally Speaks on Her Vision for T Magazine

>> Sally Singer rides her bicycle to work every day, orders weekly cruelty-free organic food delivery from an upstate New York farm, and is currently reworking the New York Times's T magazine as its new editor-in-chief. For the first time since her appointment, Singer speaks about her vision for the magazine, in conversation with Paper's Kim Hastreiter: "I hope that there will be actual stories to read in it, because the Times is first and foremost a paper of great reporting. And it has to be relevant and honest and interesting. There also have to be real narratives and a sense of continuity between the world of the paper and the world in which the T images exist."

Singer continues: "To me, the most exquisite fashion credit I can remember in my lifetime was the day of [President Obama's] inauguration, when Michelle walked the parade route in that greenish-yellow Isabel Toledo dress. Because this was a real moment in which fashion, and quite directional fashion, played a role. When I think about the project of T and the Times, I think about that. I think about fashion outside of the studio and fashion that lives on the street. It doesn't mean you're going to repeat that moment, but I do think there's a way in which you can make lifestyle choices seem pertinent to the way we experience the world, and you can draw those connections in a magazine."

>> Sally Singer's First T Issue to Hit in December -Sally Singer is rounding out her fashion department with a number of former Vogue staffers, who also happen to have famous last names, in true Vogue tradition: Sara Moonves, daughter of CBS chief executive Les Moonves and former assistant to Vogue executive fashion editor Phyllis Posnick, and Vanessa Traina, daughter of Danielle Steel who has assisted Vogue contributing editor Marie Amelie Sauve, have both been hired as freelance fashion editors. Ethel Park, associate fashion editor at Vogue and longtime assistant to Tonne Goodman, is joining T as senior fashion editor on Aug. 30. “They see the link between fashion and the larger question of what’s relevant in our culture,” Singer said of her recruits. “They’re also quite connected with the generation of emerging designers, not only in the States, but abroad, as well.” Singer added that her first issue of T will be the Holiday issue, out Dec. 5. Sally Singer Makes First Major Hires at T

>> It doesn't appear that Sally Singer will be pillaging the ranks of Vogue - or even Conde Nast, for that matter - when it comes to stocking her team at T. She has made her first two hires: Michelle Kessler-Sanders as fashion director and Jacob Brown as features director.

Kessler-Sanders, who replaces Anne Christensen (now executive fashion director at Glamour) and starts in time for New York Fashion Week Sept. 7, was most recently SVP at Donna Karan; before that, she was president of Miu Miu USA, VP and fashion director at Juicy Couture, and accessories director at Vogue, where she and Singer first worked together. Brown, for his part, comes from editing V and VMAN for three and a half years; he succeeds Armand Limnander, who followed Stefano Tonchi to W, and starts in mid-August.
