Kate Middleton Goes More Designer On Her North American Tour

>> Kate Middleton's sartorial diplomacy is already winning accolades. Arriving Thursday in Ottawa, Kate kicked off her 11-day tour of Canada and the US in a lace dress by UK-based, Canadian-born designer Erdem. Middleton reportedly has quite a few more outfits planned for the trip - 30 looks in total - and if the first few are any indication, more nods to both her home country and host countries are in store. She did not bring a stylist or dresser with her, but appears to be moving away from wearing so many High Street designers. But when Mouret was asked again recently whether he helped Beckham design the collection, he replied: "Oh my God, that question! Politicians, movie stars, it's always the first things they want to know and I'm like, why? Why would I want to design a collection for Victoria Beckham? Yes, she is a friend, and yes, she asks for advice, and yes, I told her the name of a pattern cutter, but she has lots of friends she asks for advice - Marc Jacobs. I like to help people that's all." Roland Mouret Buys Back Name After Five Years

>> Roland Mouret has bought his trademark back from his former investors and is readying his first flagship in London's Mayfair for February or March. Mouret split from his backers Sharai and Andre Meyers in October 2005 over strategic differences - the Meyerses have owned 100 percent of the Roland Mouret name since. He then formed a 50-50 venture, 19RM, with British impresario Simon Fuller in September 2006, showing under the name RM by Roland Mouret. Mouret bought his name back from the Meyerses for an undisclosed sum.

“It took time - but I am really happy. And I am so proud that I continued working - even without my name,” Mouret said. "When Simon and I started together, we made a plan. I wanted to get my name back in a natural way, and I didn’t want to get into any legal battles. Simon has allowed me to develop a business while ensuring I always had enough space and resources to follow my intuition and establish the company.”
