>> Marc Jacobs's Impending Wedding No Longer So Impending —Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone were originally supposed to get married this month, but Lorenzo now says that it has been pushed back to August, due to Jacobs's strenuous work schedule. He did confirm, however, that the wedding is still planned for Provincetown, where Marc's business partner, Robert Duffy, has a vacation home. [WWD]

>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL — Yesterday, rumors ran rampant that Anne Hathaway might be appearing in Marc Jacobs's Fall 2009 ads, but a brand rep says not so: “I’m afraid that is not true. Marc and Annie are good friends, but there are no plans of her appearing in our ads.” But maybe she'll be coming with him to the Costume Institute Gala instead? [People StyleWatch]

Marc Jacobs Fall 2009: Officially Without Celebrities, But With Bee Shaffer As Usual
>> We already knew Marc Jacob's Fall 2009 show on Monday is going to be a horse of a different color — one or two celebrities, a simpler set, and no plus-ones. Now, a few more concrete details — Marc, legendary in year's past for hosting everyone from Lil' Kim to Kevin Federline to Victoria Beckham to Courtney Love, has eliminated the entire celebrity quotient, so don't expect to see a one. As for the set, it's supposedly being done without — and most of the 700 invited guests will be front row — since the setup is largely monorowed.
As for the matter of plus-ones, Marc Jacobs president Robert Duffy "made an exception for one person, and one person only — and that’s Anna Wintour. Anna gets to bring a guest because she got us our jobs. Anyone else who wants to get us a job, they can have a plus-one, too.” Sounds like we'll be seeing Bee Shaffer, since Anna traditionally brings her to Marc every season.

Marc Jacobs's Fall 2009 Show Won't Be the Usual Extravaganza
>> Late Friday, Marc Jacobs announced that in addition to canceling his much-anticipated fashion show afterparty, he would also be cutting his show invite list by over half. Instead of the usual 1,100 seated guests, there will be only 700; likewise, the usual 900 standing assignments are being cut down to 200 and will be largely reserved for employees, making the coveted Marc Jacobs invite more elusive than ever.
“This isn’t the time to spend the money to entertain the entire world,” Robert Duffy, Marc's right-hand man and president of Marc Jacobs International, explained of the downsizing. “Everybody thinks it costs the same money to entertain 500 people as opposed to 2,000. It doesn’t. All those 2,000 people still need to be seated, they still need to check in, this one needs this, that one needs that, and you know what? It’s very costly.”

Marc is showing at his usual venue, the 69th Regimental Armory, Duffy continued, because “it’s a great place to show, and it was booked a year ago. I’m not going to pay a cancellation fee."
>> INSIDER WIRE —Last year, camel toe and Aladdin, this year, nothing. Sadly, there will be no insane "Rock and Roll Circus" Marc Jacobs costume this December — in light of the economic climate, Marc and business partner Robert Duffy have decided to cancel the themed party for the first time in 18 years. Duffy sent out an email Tuesday reading: "It pains me as this has been a Marc Jacobs tradition . . . Hopefully it will be reinstated next year." [WWD]

>> INSIDER WIRE —At Louis Vuitton, there is never a shortage of monograms or trinkets — and Sunday's show was no exception. Marc Jacob's business partner Robert Duffy mentioned backstage that the models had on pretty lingerie, and Raquel Zimmermann and others flipped up their skirts to reveal LV-monogrammed underpants. Meanwhile, after the show, Marc handed out the shoes straight off the runway to his favorite editors — Francesca Burns from i-D and Victoria Young of POP among them. Marc Jacobs Isn't Married, and Other Sundry Tidbits from The New Yorker
>> After that rampant Marc Jacobs marriage rumor that made major Internet waves last month, we finally have confirmation that it didn't happen. In The New Yorker's Sept. 1 issue, Ariel Levy's profile of Marc bluntly states: "Last month, Page Six misreported that Jacobs had married Martone." So, no marriage, but there is plenty of other insight to be had about Marc's relationship with Lorenzo Martone, his new "addiction," and all that attention he's been getting.
Lorenzo was upset about all the tabloid coverage their relationship gets; Marc told him to "man up" and ignore it.
"Last Tuesday, [Page Six] had me making out with my ex-boyfriend Jason Preston at Pastis and bad-mouthing someone I went out with for four days. Well, first of all, I did not bad-mouth the person I went out with for four days, second of all I was not getting back together with Jason Preston, and, fourth—or first!—of all, I wasn't even in the city of New York on that Saturday! I was in Paris, France. My current boyfriend said, 'Marc, you know I don't believe it, but so many people have asked me about it.' I was, like, 'You put me on a plane Friday night! How can you be listening to this?'"
Instead of cocaine or alcohol, the gym has become Marc's addiction.
"Everything is beautiful at the gym, everyone looks amazing. You just think it's like one big healthy circus going on out there: the bodies are great, people are jolly, and, even when they're complaining about how strenuous it is, there's, like, a kind of very good, positive, we're-all-doing-something-good-for-ourselves . . . And it's two and a half hours that I'm not smoking. I am a true addict in that whatever makes me feel good I want more of, whether it's good for me or not."
