Chanel Not Traveling to Show Metier D'Arts Pre-Fall 2011 Collection This Season

But the collection, which was originally established to showcase the skills of the house's couture ateliers, will instead be shown on Dec. 7 at the house's Rue Cambon couture salons, taking it back to where it started in 2002. Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2009: A Taste of What's To Come

>> With most pre-collections, hints of what to come from the designer are there, but with Nicholas Ghesquiere, it's especially prevalent - the woven leather gladiator boots and a black-and-white floral print hit Resort 2008 before going full-fledged in the Spring 2008 Balenciaga collection, and very similar black-and-white dresses appeared in the Pre-Fall 2008 collection before hitting the runway for Fall 2008. Ghesquiere confirmed yesterday that the new Pre-Fall 2009 collection was a good indication of the direction he was talking for Fall 2009, but for now, we can only guess on which elements will reappear: the zip skirts? The slouchy pencil pants? The fur mittens?

After April's controversial cover, we're back to drawing from the same old pool of actresses. May 2008 brings us Gwyneth Paltrow, accompanied by Iron Man helmet.

Not much creativity here . . . take away the necklace Stam wore on the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2008 runway, and the two girls could be twins: light skin, blonde hair in loose curls, even the poses are similar. And I wonder, what's the likelihood that Vogue got paid to have that helmet on the cover?
