Sophia Kokosalaki Is Launching Bridal and Jewelry

>> Sophia Kokosalaki is adding a few more projects to her ever-expanding roster. The designer - who already helms the reigns at Diesel Black Gold, as well as running her own mainline collection - is set to launch bridal and costume jewelry exclusively on Net-a-Porter.com starting Feb. 15. Inspired by Madame Vionnet and '50s Dior, the 12-piece bridal line will feature Grecian-style wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and cocktail attire, and is priced from $1,245 to $7,065. Made to complement the bridal offering, the full collection of jewelry features Grecian-style gold work and motifs, and is priced from $157 to $942. Here's a look at the entire Karl lookbook, which hit Vogue UK and The Cut today and features over 70 pieces - including pants, sweatshirts, skirts, shirts, dresses, t-shirts, shoes, and bags - in Lagerfeld's signature black, white, gray, silver, burgundy, and pink. Prices range from $50 to over $1,000.

>> We've seen a video teaser of Karl Lagerfeld's upcoming lower-priced Karl line, now, a few more looks - and details - have been released.

The collection, which launches Jan. 25 exclusively on Net-a-Porter for the Spring 2012 season, includes over 70 pieces (including pants, sweatshirts, skirts, shirts, dresses, t-shirts, shoes, and bags) in black, white, gray, silver, burgundy, and pink. Prices range from $50 for a canvas bag embellished with a cameo of Karl Lagerfeld's profile to over $1,000 for some of the leather pieces.

A few more detailed descriptions from the press release:

A sleeveless leather jacket is contrasted with a dress adorned with zippers.
A classic white shirt comes with a double-bib front in black coated cotton, and there are shirts with layered swimmer-back cuts.
Sportswear elements are evident, with some pieces boasting vinyl sleeves, athletic-inspired shorts, and rubber patches stamped with Karl's logo, reminiscent of a boxer's belt.
Also featured are shorts in heavy cotton with a buttoned fly and zippers on the thighs, as well as black wool pants with tuxedo stripes.
T-shirt dresses are draped in metallic-silk or cotton jersey, and there are also leather skirts, round-collar silk blouses, plunging zippered necklines on the back of short dresses, detachable collars, sequined skirts and dresses.

Preview Karl Lagerfeld's Upcoming Lower-Priced Karl Line

>> Karl Lagerfeld's new masstige Karl range will be available to buy exclusively from Net-a-Porter on Jan. 25, Natalie Massenet revealed this morning at the LeWeb conference in Paris.
Lagerfeld, also in attendance at the conference, previewed a video clip of the range - prices start at £150 (approx. $234) for a jacket - which can be seen below. He also talked about being "obsessed" with Apple, saying that he uses one of his several iPads to create videos - he filmed four web-only advertisements for Chanel last week - and to sketch out designs and ideas. To demonstrate, he showed the audience a sketch he did of Steve Jobs that morning, and then sketched himself on the iPad - the latter can be seen here.

>> Claudia Schiffer's new knit collection - designed with German cashmere specialist Iris von Arnim - made its retail debut at Colette during Paris couture week, and it's hitting 50 doors worldwide shortly - including Net-a-Porter later this month. Camilla Akrans captured Schiffer herself modeling the tube dresses, chunky cardigans, and cableknit sweaters (which range from about $400 to $1,600) for the collection's lookbook, and the new designer says of her offering: "I wanted to make easy pieces that are practical yet chic . . . It’s been a huge learning curve, but it’s something I have wanted to do for a long time."

A First Look at Erin Wasson's Collaboration with Zadig & Voltaire

>> Erin Wasson's new collaboration - the Erin Meets Zadig line, done with French luxury lifestyle brand Zadig & Voltaire - is set to be introduced during Paris Couture Week in July. The presentation will have a strong musical element, according to Zadig & Voltaire founder Thierry Gillier, which comes as no surprise - when Wasson designed her RVCA line, those presentations often had a live band performance; the last two involved Gang Gang Dance and Yeasayer.

But the similarities between her RVCA and Zadig & Voltaire collaborations stop there, Wasson says: “Zadig & Voltaire is a sophisticated French brand. I was aware of this difference [from RVCA] when we started developing the collection. We worked with more luxurious fabrics and materials.” Erin Meets Zadig was inspired by “life, classic cars, and Rod Stewart,” Wasson adds: “The collection feels almost sensual. I wanted it to be about basic shapes with subtle texture."

Wasson features in the Zadig & Voltaire Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 ad campaigns, as well as the lookbook for Erin Meets Zadig, shot by Fred Meylan in the Hamptons (a few images in the slideshow). Gillier notes: “Erin’s capsule is really different from what we are doing today. It allows us to offer an even more distinctive product. We are rock ’n’ roll, but Erin is even more rock ’n’ roll.”

The 15-piece offering, which includes a studded suede jacket, leather pants, a cashmere jumpsuit, and a python bag and boots, ranges from 90 euros ($120) for a cotton tank to 1,050 euros ($1,400) for a foal skin coat. It will be launched exclusively on Net-a-Porter in September, before rolling out in 80 Zadig & Voltaire stores worldwide. Though it was originally intended to be a one-off, the capsule collection could evolve into another type of project in coming seasons, Gillier said: “We are already exploring different ideas to do something new next season with her and with other people.”
