Watch Gareth Pugh's New Film with Natasa Vojnovic, Made in Florence for Pitti Immagine

>> As part of the Pitti Immagine tradeshow in Florence, Gareth Pugh made his Italian fashion debut this evening - he worked with frequent collaborators, filmmaker Ruth Hogben and model Natasa Vojnovic, to produce the above film, which was projected on the ceiling of the 14th-century Orsanmichele church. Inspired by religious iconography and the city of Florence, the collection created specifically for the occasion incorporates color - the first time ever for Pugh - like gold and blue. Alber Elbaz Pulls Out the Stops at Lanvin for H&M Fashion Show

>> Alber Elbaz and the Lanvin team descended on New York's Pierre Hotel Thursday evening, transforming it with palm fronds, caged parakeets, models in French maid outfits, and little old men offering up champagne, scotch, crustless tea sandwiches, and macaroons, to show off their H&M collaboration.

At the runway's entrance, a rose-filled arch set with "Lanvin Hearts H&M" in fluorescent lights; to the side of that, a salsa band played live music. And above the runway, there were 20 crystal chandeliers. The venue was packed, to say the least - Sofia Coppola, Patrick Demarchelier, Shala Monroque, Sally Singer, and Grace Coddington were all there, plus more than a handful of other designers sitting front row: Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Tory Burch, Alexander Wang, Anna Sui.

Katie Grand styled the show - and the models were told to engage with the audience - so Siri Tollerod, as veiled bride, tossed her bouquet; Pixie Geldof strutted down in her gender-bending suit; Anna Dello Russo, walked with a gray standard poodle at her side; and Julia Frakes made her runway debut. The clothes were couture riffs on the Lanvin for H&M collection - on sale to benefit Unicef now - but afterward, there was a frenzy for the Lanvin for H&M collection pop-up shop set up downstairs. Many editors walked away with multiple bags, Coppola bought the tulle jacket, and even Wang did a little shopping of his own.

>> First Look: Acne Paper #10 -Cult biannual magazine Acne Paper is back next month with its Spring 2010 Issue; for the tenth edition's cover, Daniel Jackson captured Rianne Ten Haken, Mirte Maas and Natasa Vojnovic in a classical portrait. Paul Rowland Snaps 19 Models for Witchy 96-Page V Supplement

>> The 96-page September issue insert The Imagist teased back in June turned out to be for V: Paul Rowland, founder of Women and Supreme agencies, photographed 19 of his models in studio back in April with help from stylist Nicholas Grasa. His inspirations were "Joel-Peter Witkin, paganism, mysticism, vampires, witches - all the things I love," and V has a video of the shoot in action, which required Hannelore Knuts to have raw meat draped over her chest and the rope holding it together lit on fire on both ends. The supplement will be available with V61 in select cities.

Maybe this whole project is the start of a move into a new arena for Rowland? As V puts it: "Rowland, whose lavish and intricate agency show packages are the talk of the industry each season, has a creative verve that extends beyond model agency moving and shaking, and into photography and fine art. After this outing, however, he might need his own magazine as well."

>> The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2010 we saw last week was the work of new Vuitton design director Julie de Libran, who has taken Peter Copping's place now that he's heading up Nina Ricci; apparently for some time now, Marc Jacobs has entrusted Resort designing to one of his lieutenants.

Meanwhile, the Fall 2009 ads for his namesake label are starting to appear; one with Natasa Vojnovic leaning out of a building precariously, and another a collage of portraits of Natasa, Ajuma Nasenyana, and Kamila Filipcikova. Irina Kulikova and Olga Sherer are also supposed to appear in the Juergen Teller-lensed set.

>> INSIDER WIRE - Gareth Pugh surprised editors and buyers alike last week when they showed up for his runway show and instead got a video presentation with Natasa Vojnovic marching and contorting in the clothes. Dazed Digital scored a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, and got Pugh to explain his reasoning for the switch: "First and foremost was the fact I had just done this big menswear show in Paris four weeks before the women's show. Gareth Pugh's Fall 2009 Surprise: Video, Not Runway Presentation

>> Gareth Pugh never fails to surprise with his runway shows, and for Fall 2009, he pulled the rug out from under editors by showing them an eight-minute video when they came expecting a runway show. He's not the first - in recent seasons, Stefano Pilati, Viktor & Rolf, and the good people at Halston have all dabbled in the format - but using a video in place of a runway is polarizing, since it makes it harder to get a good look at the clothes. Natasa Vojnovic marches, writhes, and dances to demonic music in the mostly black-and-white film - which features one striking scene with her birthing herself from a bronze pod jacket. When interviewed on his choice, Gareth explained that he finds sending a girl walking up and down the catwalk "a little half-assed, for lack of a better word. It's a well-trodden formula and I think it's time for a change." And how appropriate that the first clear picture of the collection comes courtesy of Natasa, who walked away from the show in a Fall 2009 Pugh cape.
