Thierry to Fully Relaunch Womenswear for Spring 2011?

>> Thierry Mugler shuttered his couture line back in 2003 and has primarily pursued fragrance since, but he's slowly creeping back into fashion. Along with serving as creative adviser on everything from lighting to choreography for Beyonce's current tour, he also contributed 58 or so costumes for the spectacle.

The house was re-opened in 2008 under the creative direction of Rosemary Rodriguez, who has since shown several menswear collections and a small womenswear capsule collection during Paris Fashion Week back in March. Yesterday at Moscow Fashion Week, she sent out a mix of new creations and archive pieces down the runway, and word is, reports Fashion Week Daily, "Mugler has privately set next October as the re-launch date for the ready-to-wear effort - to be shown in Paris - with Rodriguez fully in charge."

Dasha Zhukova Rumored to Be Launching a New Magazine

>> Since resigning as editor of POP last November, Dasha Zhukova's new endeavors have been primarily art focused. The day after she resigned, it was announced that Zhukova had invested in and was expected to be active in the business of online startup Art.sy, which aims to be a "Pandora for art," recommending pieces to potential buyers based on their taste.

And a couple of weeks ago, it was confirmed that "in a gesture designed to please" Zhukova, her partner Roman Abramovich will finance a state-of-the-art modern art gallery in Moscow's Gorky Park, part of a £1.25 billion ($2.04 billion) makeover of the location which will also include a London Eye-style Ferris wheel. The forthcoming gallery is expected to be curated and run by Zhukova, who also confirmed that she plans to move her Moscow-based Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture to Gorky Park after the renovations are complete.

Now, rumors are circulating that Zhukova plans to return to print. The Imagist reports: "Have you caught that whisper of a hiss that suggests that post-POP, the world's most glamorous art maven, Dasha Zhukova, is summoning her very own culture mag ? . . . We heard the suspected name, which makes perfect branding sense...But who's designing? Who's shooting for? London based? Paris? Moscow? Art driven or is [it] a fashion frenzy?"

>> Heidi Mount to Star in Karl Lagerfeld's Next Short Film; 2011 Pirelli Calendar to Include "Three or Four Boys" -Short films have become de rigeur for Chanel's pre-collection shows, and the upcoming Cruise 2011 season is no exception. Lagerfeld is shooting a minimovie shortly, starring Heidi Mount and French actor Pascal Greggory, which will be shown along with the collection on May 11 - press and VIPs will take it all in from the Cafe Senequier terrace in Saint Tropez. Lagerfeld, who is wrapping up shooting on the 2011 Pirelli calendar today, let slip that in addition to the usual cast of girls, his calendar will include “three or four boys in it, too.” The calendar will be unveiled Nov. 30 in Moscow. >> Victoria Beckham Modeled Fall 2010 Dress Off Osman Yousefzada's Fall 2009 Design? -During a trip to Moscow last week, Victoria Beckham reiterated that she has no plans to do a fast-fashion line and is instead focusing on becoming a luxury designer. She was in Russia showing her Fall 2010 collection, which boasts a column dress (below, right) recently garnering attention for its likeness to a young London designer's column dress (below, left). Osman Yousefzada says that Beckham borrowed the dress from his Fall 2009 collection and then returned it without buying it. He noted that "a lot of people have mentioned the similarity" between his dress and Beckham's Fall 2010 dress. "It is very flattering to think she may have tried my dress and been inspired to create something similar, since it means she must have liked the way the dress was cut and the way it felt to wear. Although she's back at work now, walking in Singapore earlier this week (left) and shooting the upcoming Gucci campaign, she spent February through the middle of last month wandering through the backcountry of Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, because like a number of other models recently - Daria Werbowy, Coco Rocha, Caroline Trentini - she needed a break:

Often I’d wake up in a hotel room and it would take a few seconds before I’d figure out which country I was in. My life had become a whirlwind of catwalk shows, hotels, airports and studios. There was another reason why I needed a change. I had come out of a six-year relationship [Ed. note: presumedly with photographer Alexi Lubomirski], and up until three weeks ago was feeling utterly lost. I was dealing with both the pain of the break-up and the muddle that my life had become.

The decision to travel cost her.

So, here I am, sitting at a cafe in Nong Khai, about to cross the border into Laos. I have just cut off all communication with my agent after I received an email from her offering me a job for thousands of dollars. It would be so easy to be seduced by the money and abandon this trip, but I know that if I don’t commit to this journey now, I never will, and I would hate myself for that.

Edita Vilkeviciute Gets Into Chanel for Karl's First Film

>> Tom Ford is currently filming his directorial debut, and Wednesday, Karl Lagerfeld will show his own directorial debut, based on Coco Chanel's early years. Unlike Tom's feature film, Karl's film is only ten minutes - a length more fitting to kick off the showing of Chanel's Paris-Moscow collection in Paris. The presentation was originally supposed to take place in Moscow, but Karl changed his mind after Russian customs "wanted to have the clothes three weeks in advance, which means we wouldn't have been ready and the situation seemed risky, so we cancelled."

Shot in a Paris studio in two days, Karl's film is inspired by Mack Sennett's flickering black-and-white silent slapstick movies with "spliced in newsreel footage of WWI because I think it's interesting to juxtapose fashion with the horrible images of the trenches." Rather than cast extras - "they don't know how to touch the clothes" - Karl looked within his own posse to fill positions - muse Amanda Harlech and daughter Tallulah Ormsby-Gore as customer and model, Brad Kroenig as Chanel lover Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, and bodyguard Sebastien Jondeau as a Russian general. For the role of Chanel, Karl went with Lithuanian model Edita Vilkeviciute - in character in the film stills below.

Does Anna Wintour Need to Worry About Aliona Doletskaya?

>> Founded or unfounded, the buzz about Russian Vogue editor Aliona Doletskaya as Anna Wintour's successor continues to grow, especially since The New York Times brought the possibility up earlier this month while Aliona was in town attending New York Fashion Week.

Page Six is reporting today that Elle has finally surpassed Vogue by 66 ad pages in the October issues - not good for Anna, especially when earlier this week in Moscow, Aliona was introduced as "The next editor of American Vogue." It all seems a little suspect to me - Freudian slip, maybe? -but here's a May profile video of Aliona in case you want to get to know her and her smoker's voice a little better. She and Anna have at least one thing in common - they both love their fur.

Anna, meanwhile, is carrying on with her duties in Milan, where last night, she (randomly) dined alongside Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend.
