Cold-weather layering - in the form of oversized outerwear, body-con dresses, and belted waistlines - was the message, and it came in the form of jumbo coats, boxy fur-trimmed vests, and maxi-length jackets, with plenty of space-dyed turtlenecks and graphic-knit minidresses to wear under them.

>> Yesterday's heavy-hitting show schedule made for a full day of fun backstage at Milan Fashion Week. Not only was there plenty of pin-up girl posturing at Dolce & Gabbana - in bejeweled maillots, no less - but also lots of madcap twirling in tomato-printed skirts and aubergine-patterned dresses. At Ferragamo, models pranced in flowing gowns fit for a night in the tropics; at Missoni, oversized fans provided the perfect coy accessory. But the most delicious thing spotted backstage? Earrings made from pasta at Dolce & Gabbana. Get a peek at all this and more, here in the slideshow.
