>> Balenciaga Spring 2010 Ad Cast Said to Be All Models, But No Miranda Kerr —The Spring 2010 shows are over; let the campaign guessing games begin. First up on the rumor mill: Balenciaga. Spring 2009 saw a bevy of models cast, Fall 2009 focused on Jennifer Connelly, and for Spring 2010, it sounds like we're back to all models — Kasia Struss and "three unknowns" are said to be involved. Guess that means Miranda Kerr, who Nicholas Ghesquiere personally requested for the show, won't be having an Adriana Lima-Givenchy moment. [Fashionista, The Imagist, Style File]

Balenciaga Aims to Go Thorougly Modern for Spring 2010
>> For the second season in a row, Balenciaga showed at the Hotel Crillon — word is residents forced them to move from their previous location — and Nicolas Ghesquiere took his eye "back to the start again," as the show's soundtrack went, returning to his sporty, skinny pants roots. The leggings, vests, and dresses were collages of contrasting materials — "like toys," the designer noted — and his goal was to create an entirely modern collection, sans references to the past.
In his effort to think differently, Ghesquiere told the Wall Street Journal, he mused: “There are cocktail dresses everywhere. I am asking, who are these women who go to cocktails all the time?’’ He also had his runway shoe samples made it a number of different sizes (39-41) rather than the standard 39, to help prevent runway stumbles.
Anouck Lepere and Lily Cole were both front row this morning, but the big model surprise was Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr, who some see as Balenciaga's answer to Givenchy casting Adriana Lima last season.
The Full Cast — and a Preview — of the 2010 Pirelli Calendar
>> We had a few clues as to who made the cut for Terry Richardson's 2010 Pirelli calendar when he shot it last month in Bahia, Brazil, but now Italian Vanity Fair has the details on the full cast, which includes Daisy Lowe, Georgina Stojiljkovic, Eniko Mihalik, Catherine McNeil, Lily Cole, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Miranda Kerr, Ana Beatriz Barros, Gracie Carvalho, Marloes Horst, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Terry produced thousands of images from the shoot with the girls holding sloths, fruit, roosters, and holding hands while running through waves in little else than a bikini bottom. The goal this year was to use "no makeup, no reflectors — only the flash of the camera — no branded clothes or jewelry, no girls altered surgically," said Andrea Imperiali, manager of Pirelli on the set. Fifty images will make the final cut when the calendar is debuted Nov. 19 in London, but until then the gallery below — which is NSFW — and a video of the shoot will have to do.
Lara Stone To Do Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?
>> Victoria's Secret may not have the cachet of say, Balenciaga, but it can make a model a millionaire. Although the lingerie company is currently taking heat for its rash-causing bras, its event of the year — the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show — is still on schedule for taping in Miami Saturday night.
The Angels — Heidi Klum, Alessandro Ambrosio, Selita Ebanks, Doutzen Kroes, Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, Marisa Miller — will all be there, but more pressing: Who are the unnamed 30 models who have also been cast for the show?
Fittings have been going on for the past week at least, and yet no names have leaked — the closest to a hint is this photo, above, of what appears to be Lara Stone in a Victoria's Secret outfit. She's not your typical VS model, but the possibility of a multimillion dollar contract in the future is enough to make any model try something new.

The Woman Behind the Myf
>> Abbey Lee Kershaw, Miranda Kerr, Catherine McNeil, and Alice Burdeu have all recently brought a strong wave of Australian blood onto the model scene.
Now, there's a new recruit: 17-year-old Myf Shepherd. She's definitely got the unique name going for her — her full Christian name is Myfanwy — and she walked in the jewel-heavy baroque-cum-sport-inspired Prada Resort 2009 show yesterday. As we all know, a yes vote from Prada can open many doors . . .
