Bill Blass New York has stopped taking Spring 09 orders and is liquidating. On October 28th it was officially announced that Peter Som would be parting ways with the company, after a whirlwind of reports that NexCen was in deep financial waters, and news that Som had resigned, back in the spring. As far eulogies go, the New York Times wrote one when they covered Michael Vollbracht's Spring 09 presentation at New York Fashion Week.

Romeo Gigli, Italian designer, will launch a new line called io ipse idem. The designer is famous for coining the term 'cocooning' and was popular in the 1980's when Italian Vogue editor Carla Sozzani helped launch his career.

Two new Target collaborations have been slated in the accessories department. Handbag brand Felix Ray and footwear designer Trish Carroll will both launch diffusion collections this Spring.

New York's window displays have turned out to be as fantastic as ever--despite across the board losses in the retail market. The answer is simple: some cheering up is in order.

Will the CFDA's Health Discussion Tonight Make a Difference?

The event's expected attendees "include Donna Karan, Francisco Costa, Nicole Miller, Tory Burch, Doo-Ri Chung, Amanda Brooks and Michael Vollbracht." I hope that's only a smattering of who actually attends, considering the lengthy list of CFDA members, because if it's not, how does the CFDA ever expect to make any headway when no one's ready to make a change?

S/S 08 Trend Report: Bill Blass Presentation

We kind of love that the Bill Blass S/S 08 presentation had an atmosphere reminiscent of Wuthering Heights so cold and eerie, that it made your skin crawl. It definitely adds something to dresses that, though beautiful, stand among the dozens of other 'pretty', neutral dresses we saw for the season. The fact that the design seems redundant is no doubt due to the interim between Michael Vollbracht and Peter Som (who starts designing for Bill Blass this A/W 08) and the fact that the inspiration for the collection was, literally, digging through archives of season's passed.
