>> Olivier Zahm Teases Upcoming Purple Fashion #12 —Olivier Zahm took the upcoming issue of Purple Fashion — out in September — to the printers' today and gave us a peek at Terry Richardson's "Best of the Season" editorial that was photographed at Milk Studios in June. In the past couple of months, Zahm has offered a number of teasers on the issue: a Gareth Pugh spotlight editorial styled by Francesca Burns, a nude pictorial captured by Mario Sorrenti, a Venice shoot with Baptiste Giabiconi by Karl Lagerfeld, and a set by Paola Kudaki. >> For Fall 2009, Bally stuck with the same team as Spring 2009 — Mario Sorrenti photographing Christy Turlington and Oriol Elcacho, this time styled by Lori Goldstein in a darker, more sophisticated light — because as Creative Director Brian Atwood put it, "For me Christy is simply the perfect Bally woman; graceful, intelligent, and natural; she exudes a sophisticated ease; her sensual beauty is perfectly complimented by Oriol's strong and confident presence. Both Christy and Oriol are wonderful to work with; consummate professionals who allow the process to flow so seamlessly, it is difficult to call it work." If rumors are to be believed, he'll be sharing Christy with Yves Saint Laurent this season, because Stefano Pilati thought she was the consummate YSL woman.

>> Paris Fashion Week starts tomorrow, but fashion folk couldn't leave Milan without hitting up the Palazzo della Ragione last night for one last Milanese shindig, courtesy of Anna Wintour, Domenico Dolce, and Stefano Gabbana. The launch for the "Extreme Beauty in Vogue" exhibition — which Anna selected 89 images for — the party was likened to the Milanese equivalent of the Costume Institute Gala; in other words, the week's hottest ticket. Karl Lagerfeld made a beeline for the photos after mugging for a few cameras, while Anna was trailed by 60 Minutes's Morley Safer and Carine Roitfeld by CNN: “I am being followed round all the shows, and they are doing lots of interviews. But you won’t be seeing me naked.” Miuccia Prada sported one of her new Fall 2009 gladiatorial dresses, and rounding out the fashion wattage a troika of supermodels: two we see quite a bit of (Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova) and one we do not (Nadja Auermann).

>> INSIDER WIRE — No word on who graces the cover, but here's a preview of the Spring 2009 issue of Self Service, due out March 5. Inside? Dree Hemingway, who seems to suddenly be appearing everywhere, Mario Sorrenti, Camilla Nickerson, Malgosia Bela, Raquel Zimmermann, Lara Stone, Stella McCartney, Jeff Koons, Katie Grand, and Diane Von Furstenberg — who must be making the indie magazine rounds, between this and her Purple cover. >> After going with up-and-coming models for Fall 2007 and Spring 2008, Olivier Theyskens has pulled out the big guns, making a splash for Fall 2008 with Natasha Poly. The stop-action, hair flipping shots definitely help achieve Olivier's goal of transforming the romantic label into one with more edge. If these images by Mario Sorrenti don't sell the brand, I don't know what will.
