>> The 2011 results are in: Sarah Jessica Parker, Heidi Klum, and Jennifer Aniston regularly and reliably pulled in the top sales at the newsstand, and Mila Kunis was the year's breakout cover star with some of the best-selling issues across titles. While the biggest-drawing names may not come as a surprise, here's what does: the inconsistent ability of some stars to bring in sales - Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and Emma Stone all had some of the best and worst performing covers of the year. Barneys Said Eyeing Taylor Tomasi Hill for Fashion Director Role

>> After frontrunners Sarah Rutson and Virginia Smith both turned down the recently opened up fashion director role at Barneys (longtime fashion director Julie Gilhart was let go last month), new Barneys CEO Mark Lee is now said to be zeroing in on Marie Claire style and accessories director Taylor Tomasi Hill, who, coincidentally, has often named Rutson as an inspiration. Tomasi Hill joined Marie Claire in August 2009 from Teen Vogue, where she was accessories director. [WWD]

>> Nina Garcia: Editors Should Be On TV, "Whether You Want It or Not" -Nina Garcia, who's been on Project Runway for eight seasons now, was skeptical about being on a reality TV show at first: “I’m really very shy when it comes to being out there, so my initial reaction was: ‘No, I’m not going to be part of the show, it’s crazy. Who cares about fashion? Who’s going to watch it?’” But, she says: “The fashion editor as it used to be has changed. Now you have to wear many hats, and whoever tells you differently is wrong. Now you’re on TV, whether you want it or not.” Garcia, 45, who is due in December with her second son, is now tackling a different challenge - the prospect of dressing for Fashion Week while seven months pregnant. “That,” she said, “will be a vexing situation.” [NY Times]

Karl Lagerfeld produced his second calendar for the Italian edition of Marie Claire, photographing two of his favorite subjects-actress Anna Mouglalis and model Baptiste Giabiconi-in a combination of recent cruise collections, couture and Fendi furs. The calendar, with images referencing iconic moments in Italian cinema, hits newsstands along with the January issue of Italian Marie Claire on December 16.

Teen Vogue Said to Be Making 25 Percent Budget Cuts, Some Editors Already Moving On

>> McKinsey is in its second-to-last week of its three-month examination of the workings of Conde Nast, and the New York Observer reports that in the last few days, Conde executives, under the direction of McKinsey, asked a number of magazines - of which Teen Vogue is believed to be among - to cut their budget next year by roughly 25 percent. It's unclear if Vogue or W will be similarly instructed.

According to sources, top brass is not being specific about how the cuts should be made, but potential options could be diminishing expenses, doing away with freelance, reducing magazine frequency, or layoffs. Conde CEO Chuck Townsend told the Observer a few weeks ago: “I can boil what I say to editors and publishers down to the simplest statement in the world and that is: You, not me, you have a responsibility to run this business in a responsible way. It’s your responsibility. I want to see your proposal of how you’re going to do it.”
