Erin Wasson Channels Nefertiti in Her Spring 2011 Low Luv Jewelry Collection Lookbook

>> Erin Wasson plays "a goddess, like Nefertiti" in her Spring/Holiday Low Luv collection lookbook, according to Paola Kudacki, who photographed her for the occasion. Wasson's latest offering runs a gamut of inspiration - Native American in the case of a thunderbird pendant and necklace, while Evil Eye stacked rings and bangles represent Middle Eastern culture. Erin Wasson Confirms Split with RVCA

>> The rumors that Erin Wasson's RVCA line is no longer have finally been addressed by both parties. According to RVCA founder and creative director Pat Tenore: “The current rumors are completely incorrect and misleading statements. RVCA and Erin have not parted ways indefinitely. Erin is part of the RVCA family, and we hope to work with her on new collaborations in the near future.”

Though Wasson's contract with the brand technically expires at the end of the year, there will be no Spring 2011 Erin Wasson x RVCA collection. Added RVCA marketing director Brian Garofalow: “[The] agreement was for a time term, expiring 12/31/10. The term expires in between the development and go-to-market processes for [Spring 2011], so both parties opted not to develop the season as part of our current agreement.”

Erin Wasson Aims to Put the Chic Back in Skater Chick

>> It looks like Erin Wasson doesn't need to work with Alexander Wang anymore: She's got her own line to worry about. She's signed a three-year deal with skate and surf brand RVCA to produce Erin Wasson for RVCA, which is getting good reviews already — Opening Ceremony has already snapped up the Spring 2009 collection.

We're talking about the model who has a half-pipe in her backyard, so it's no surprise that she chose to do low-cut cotton tanks ($55), miniskirts, frayed denim cut-offs ($230), a silk button-down emblazoned with tiny thunderbolts, and a blazer with a zipper running up the back, all aimed at girls who skate. In fact, she straight up said: "I’m going to get my rocks off seeing girls in California skating around wearing my clothes more than I think I will seeing it in the fashion world."

As for the Low Luv-Bliss Lau jewelry controversy, Erin simply told WWD: “I have the utmost respect for Bliss Lau. I admire and appreciate what she has done for the jewelry industry.” Guess that's as good of an answer as we're going to get.

Alexander Wang Cans Erin Wasson, Has Lots in the Can for Spring 2009

>> After two seasons of working together, Alexander Wang and Erin Wasson are parting ways . . . mostly. Alex has hired Alastair McKimm to style his Spring 2009 collection in place of Wasson, but Erin will still be creating jewelry for the show from her Low Luv line.

As for the clothes, Alexander Wang promises "a marked departure" from past collections: lots of color and dresses, an athletic-meets-“Miami Vice” vibe, lace patterns inspired by sweat stains, and runway hats by milliner Albertus Swanepoel that look like a mix between swim caps and “corseted do-rags.”

But wait, there's more! Spring 2009 also means a diffusion line, T by Alexander Wang, and the designer's first shoe collection (both above). T focuses on what else but tees: Tanks to T-shirt dresses ($28-$40 wholesale) in colors ranging from whites and gray to lavender, chartreuse and cerulean, all in Alex's signature slouchy style.

As for the shoes, there are five styles to begin with, $125 to $250 wholesale, capturing the street feel Alex likes — and get this: He used actual body-piercing rings as hardware. What a whirlwind — let's hope Alex can keep up!

Erin Wasson Foresees Doing a New Clothing Line in Six Months

>> Now that Erin Wasson's RVCA split has been confirmed, she's focusing on her Low Luv jewelry line - which she promoted at Azalea boutique in San Francisco last week. After explaining to Refinery 29 where the line's name came from - "Anybody who's going to scream 'I love you!' at the top of their lungs, I'm leery about. I want to be whispered I love you to. It's love on the down-low. Jewelry exchanged as heirlooms in families is an exchange of love. And it's less disposable than clothing" - she talked with StyleList about the probability of another clothing line: "Anything's possible. I like to keep a bit of mystery. I'm not ready to read my entire book to everyone right now. There are still a lot of chapters being written. And I want to make sure that [a clothing line is] right."

She's on a break right now, but in six months . . . »

Jessica Stam Debuts Her Rachel Roy Collaboration, Is Considering Own Line?

>> Is Jessica Stam taking the Erin Wasson route to design? Just like Wasson first got exposure to the design process while working with Alexander Wang (and has since launched LowLuv and her short-lived RVCA collaboration), Stam has been dipping her toes into design, creating a pair of Repetto oxfords for the brand's 60th anniversary in 2008 and then consulting with Marcus Wainwright and David Neville on their Spring 2010 Rag & Bone collection.

Her latest endeavor - four pieces for Rachel Roy's lower-priced line, RACHEL Rachel Roy - launches this month at Macy's. "I had full creative control," Stam told Marie Claire of her designs, which include a boxy checked sweater, a pair of jeans with buttons at the ankles, a quilted bag, and a belt. "But Rachel really stressed that whatever I made should be something I'd want to see my friends in." As for whether she might design her own collection in the future, Stam remained coy: "No comment."

Erin Wasson Goes Big in Bryant Park for Spring 2010, Takes Subtle Dig at Alexander Wang?

>> Erin Wasson is bringing her first runway show at Bryant Park's biggest Tent venue to 1,100 guests - about twice the number that former collaborator Alexander Wang is expecting.

The show, which is for both her RVCA line and her Low Luv jewelry collection, is set for Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 pm and will feature both a multi-media installation and a "special musical guest to play live on the catwalk" - no further clues available yet on the latter. Of the move to a primetime venue, Wasson said she is "humbled and honored":

“I’ve spent hours at those Tents as a model, working with some of the icons of American fashion. And meanwhile, I’ve only been doing this design thing for a few seasons - Spring ’10 is season three - and it’s kind of insane to think that I’m getting to show on that same stage."

It's "too predictable" to show "in, like, an abandoned warehouse" »
