Topshop's Newest Collaborator, Anna Sui's Latest Endeavor, and Louis Vuitton's Worth

Louis Vuitton has been named the world's most valuable luxury brand for the seventh consecutive year by the Millward Brown Optimor's 2012 BrandZ study. Vuitton is worth an estimated $25.9 billion, followed closely by Hermés at $19.1 billion and Rolex at $7.2 billion. [Fashion Etc.]
Anna Sui's "genius box" - a collection of magazine clippings and inspiration pages from books and other sources that fills a whole closet - has spilled onto the Internet in the form of a newly minted Pinterest page. "Now, I can do this on my desktop!" Sui said in a statement. [Fashionologie Inbox]
Louise Gray will design a clothing and cosmetics collaboration for Topshop that will go on sale at the end of August. "My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl a range that was young and fun, similar to both the fashion and make up I wear already," Gray said. [The Daily Telegraph]

Elsa Peretti, whose jewelry designs have made up 10 percent of Tiffany's net sales over the past three years, plans to retire. The company has worked with Peretti since the early '70s and is trying to acquire her intellectual property rights so that they can continue to produce products under her name. [The Cut]
Uniqlo has named Novak Djokovic, currently the number one-ranked men's tennis player in the world, as its new brand ambassador. Djokovic will wear the brand's clothing on and off the court for the next five years, starting this Sunday when he plays in the French Open tournament. [WWD]

First Look: Louis Vuitton's Collaboration With Yayoi Kasuma

Marc Jacobs will continue his series of artist collaborations by working with Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist known for her whimsical dot motif.

On July 10, two days before a retrospective of Kusama's work opens at the Whitney Museum in New York, Louis Vuitton will deliver a collection informed by her signature decoration to its 461 stores worldwide. Kusama's signature dots will appear on everything from trench coats to pajamas and jewelry. Another assortment of products, combining Vuitton's monogram leather goods and Kusama's "nerves" design, will arrive in October.

Jacobs met Kusama in Tokyo in 2006. Their relationship led to Louis Vuitton providing financial backing for a retrospective of her work at London's Tate Modern museum earlier this year. Jacobs called the collaboration an extension of that support.

"Her energy is just endless," Jacobs said. "For many people who don't look at art or go to galleries, or maybe they're not aware of Kusama's work, there will be a new venue, a new place to see this work and to come to appreciate it through the eyes of Louis Vuitton."

The last time Jacobs worked with an artist for Louis Vuitton was his collaboration with Takashi Murakami in 2003. He also worked with Stephen Sprouse in 2001.

Kusama's influence can already be seen in Jacobs's work - his newest fragrance, after all, is called Dot. Take a look at his collaboration with Kusama - and Kusama's own work - here in the gallery.

Marc Jacobs on Louis Vuitton and Working For Bernard Arnault

Marc Jacobs has had a very busy week: he presented Germany's Design For Tomorrow Award - which honors talented student designers - in Berlin and also took time to reflect on the worldwide presence of his brands in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. Read on for his thoughts on Louis Vuitton, working for Bernard Arnault, and more.

On the difference between Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton: "For me, sexy is not about a tiny waist or a heaving bosom. I suppose Louis Vuitton is more overt as a brand than my collections for my own brand, Marc Jacobs. But when I say Marc Jacobs is not about sex I mean that from a fashion perspective, it's not based on vulgarity."

On working for Arnault: "I've said before that working for Mr. Arnault is like working for the farmer in the movie Babe. I mean, he's never going to jump up and down with exuberance, and the most he can say has often been the equivalent of 'That'll do pig.' But now he does praise me, which is great."

On his aesthetic: "Sometimes I think I'm very old-fashioned in my approach. Where fashion is concerned, I like to tell a story. I don't like anything to be obvious and I think there should always be an element of surprise about the way one dresses."

On moving into China: "When we built the train for my last show, I said to [LVMH CEO Bernard] Arnault, 'If we are going to take anything to China, then this is it.'"

Karl Lagerfeld on Queen Elizabeth II, Tucker's New Film, and Jenna's Picks on Hiatus

Karl Lagerfeld will provide live fashion commentary of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee for French state TV channel France 2. He's reprising his role from last year's royal wedding ceremonies, which he called a procession of "bad proportions, ugly hats, [and] short skirts on fat legs." Lagerfeld will go on air June 3. Tucker designer Gaby Basora worked with director Zoe Cassavetes on a silent film showcasing her Spring 2012 collection. It stars Liberty Ross as a movie star fighting against a "bicycle-riding ingenue" for a role. "Look at the women in the film, the ages - their spontaneity, bravado and love of life," Basora says. "It's the notion that Tucker has a timeless universal and utterly gorgeous appeal." [Grazia]
Wondering where the Jenna's Picks emails from J.Crew's Jenna Lyons have gone? They're currently on hiatus, according to Lyons. "It was totally not my idea, just for the record," she says. "It was actually the person who ran marketing at the time, who's no longer here, and wanted to do something that felt a little bit more personal." [The Cut]
Topshop will introduce a bridal collection designed by Richard Nicoll this June. Details are scant, but the brand recently tweeted, "Want to get married just so we can wear our @studio_nicoll bridal collection set to land in June. Can't give you a sneak peek but wow!" [The Huffington Post]
The US International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Louis Vuitton after a 15-month investigation into an elaborate ring of counterfeiters that made and sold fake Vuitton bags around the world. >> Marc Jacobs's Fall 2012 collection for Louis Vuitton read like a love letter to the house's storied travel-luggage origins - right down to the real live steam engine that barreled down the runway at the start of the show. There were porters to carry the models' bags, and some of the clothes were even stitched in a checkerboard pattern reminiscent of the iconic "damier" that covers Vuitton trunks.

As for the collection, it was ornate and luxuriously detailed: giant jeweled brooches served as the buttons for coats, and sparkling appliques adorned lurex-threaded brocades that had been made by hand. The silhouettes had "a turn of the century feel, but with bits of the 1960s and 1970s," Jacobs explained. "We wanted to attenuate the height, so we started with the hats [by Stephen Jones] and then worked with a high waist, and a gentle flare just at the ankle."
