LVMH To Hold Out on Marketing Some of Its Brands for the Rest of the Year

>> In the wake of the 23 percent decline in first-half profits it announced Monday, LVMH plans to postpone or suspend marketing and promotions for its brands that failed to be top performers, according to CFO Jean-Jacques Guiony.

He did not specify which brands would receive the "selective investments" still being made, but its wines, spirits, watches, and jewelry businesses were hurt in the past few months and seem like contenders for those being passed over. This new withholding strategy is part of LVMH's cost containment plan for the remainder of 2009.

Gisele Bundchen May Just Be Pregnant, This Time

Although the couple hasn't confirmed the information themselves - and may not, given how they handled press surrounding their wedding - Gisele has indicated in the past that she wants a big family.

While Gisele's still hard at work and walked the Colcci runway for Sao Paulo Fashion Week earlier this week, as she typically does every season, she was outfitted in much baggier clothes that the typical midriff-baring tops and tight bustiers they give her. Also adding to suspicion: the fact that all her new Fall 2009 Loewe ads have her holding a bag over her midsection. But if People's source is correct, Gisele is said to be "ecstatic" and due early next year.

>> The supermodel campaign wave that started in Fall 2008 just keeps expanding in Spring 2009 - we've got Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista for Dsquared2, Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss for Versace, Stephanie Seymour for Valentino, Claudia Schiffer for Yves Saint Laurent, and now, Amber Valletta in a stunning campaign for Loewe. The move is logical, since brands are looking to squeeze out every penny they can this season, and these models are known to drive the money. As for this set, Steven Klein did the honors - props to Stuart Vevers for the art direction, which is surely going to help him on his mission to bring Loewe back to the forefront.

The stylist and founder of POP has become known as "Katie-Grand-a-Minute" for her £3,000-4,000 a day fees (which she makes a killing with, considering that she works 30-40 days a year for Louis Vuitton, 30 days for Loewe, and 30 days for "a big Italian name").

She has kept every piece of clothing she has ever owned since the age of 15, recently buying a bigger home just to house all the Alaia, Chanel, and Gap she's acquired over the years. She's got it all — photographers so willing to be published in POP that they "often" "are using their own money," and a memory of Miuccia Prada "spinning round to Kylie [Minogue]" — except something of a more personal matter.

From 15 to 25 I didn't really eat much. I just wanted to be thinner, but I couldn't get under eight stone [112 lbs] no matter what I did . . . I can remember meals I had during those years because they were so rare.

At 37, she's never had a period. She told The Guardian she's okay with it, because she doesn't want children, but when an editor like Katie is so blasé about something like that, it makes you understand why the fashion industry as a whole is so nonchalant about models and their health.
