>> Activewear that hits a highly feminized note is a big story for next season - and Loeffler Randall's Spring 2012 collection manages to strike that sporty-pretty balance perfectly. Here, designer Jessie Randall has mixed tech fabrics like Velcro, mesh, and wetsuit neoprene with natural materials like raffia, leather, and canvas - all in a Fragonard-inspired palette of Popsicle pinks, delicate nudes, and Springtime greens. Silhouettes are easy going with plenty of appeal; amidst Randall's signature twist-knot flats, there are also chunky platforms and high-rise pumps as well as a new round-peg heel shape. Loeffler Randall Introduces Rain Boots - and Rain Booties

>> Loeffler Randall has just launched a selection of rain boots for Fall, based off of a couple of their most popular leather boot styles. The first: a lace-up rubber rain bootie ($165) modeled after the Loeffler Randall June bootie, and the second is a knee-high rubber rain boot ($195), featuring a small wedge and back-zip replicated from the brand's classic Matilde boot. "The intent was to create a slimmer, more chic version of a rain boot. I wanted to offer a rain boot that is versatile and can be worn with any outfit on a rainy day - a rain boot that enhances, rather than distracts from what you are wearing," explained Loeffler Randall creative director Jessie Randall. We know Loeffler Randall makes really beautiful clothing and handbags now but we can't seem to stop obsessing over the shoes. Last night, we went to a Pas de Deux press preview and when we realized we were standing in front of the ankle boots (top left) we've been eyeing for months--we nearly lost our concentration completely. Literally, it was all we could do not to pick them up and ask to try them on in our size. Our favorite shoe style from the Spring 09 shows, as perfectly demonstrated by Phillip Lim and Christian Louboutin, is the ruffle front heel. We have become so enchanted by this style that we set about finding a similar look in the meantime. Prada, of course, paved the way with ruffled handbags and shoes this Fall 08. The small but lovely Loeffler Randall was thinking a step ahead of the curve with pleat-like ruffles on many of their shoes this season. Jeffrey Campbell, always right on trend, also put out some ruffle inspired footwear. Despite these more than adequate examples, we have to admit, we still can't wait for the real thing.
