According to The Imagist, back before Werbowy signed her Lancome contract in April 2005, Lancome and Victoria's Secret were in a bidding war over her: "It was down to the wire till the last moment. >> Julia Restoin-Roitfeld was recently named a Lancome face, and now her first ad - for the brand's Ultra Lavande Spring 2011 color collection - is out. She also has an upcoming campaign in Asia, for the Lancome Blanc Expert line, set to debut next year.

As for her brother, Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld, he's still doing the promoter thing; when asked recently about marrying his girlfriend Giovanna Battaglia, who he's been dating just over a year, he replied: "I'm very much in love, but my parents never got married and they have been together for 31 years. If you don't get married, you can't get divorced."

And speaking of his parents, Vladimir admitted that despite her position, his mother Carine Roitfeld doesn't have a closet bursting with free clothes: "Actually, my mum has never had a lot of clothes, and she has a tiny wardrobe. She knows exactly what she likes to wear. There's one long cupboard in her bedroom, and you never see shoes lying about anywhere else. I've got more clothes than she has."

Style.com reports that Julia is the face of Lancome's forthcoming Spring collection, Ultra Lavande, and was shot by Mario Testino for the campaign. And she's also been acting as creative consultant for Mark Fast's lower-priced line, Faster; yesterday, she was on set for the line's Fall 2010 lookbook shoot.

July 2008 Vogue Italia: The Aftermath

Just this morning, Fashionista reported that Lancome signed VI model Arlenis Sosa Pena as their new face. If true, she joins Daria Werbowy in what is sure to be a lucrative, high-profile position for the company — outstanding for a newcomer like Arlenis.

More big news this morning for the July VI flock: Topshop announced VI cover girl Jourdan Dunn, along with Karlie Kloss, Kori Richardson, and Amanda Laine, as their Fall 2008 campaign girls — another sure-to-be-well-paying, high-profile campaign (images below).

Finally, The Imagist recently reported that advertising clients are already asking casting agents to be more "inclusive" for their future ad campaigns, as a result of all the attention Vogue Italia has gotten. The industry appears to be moving in the right direction, but only time will tell. Now, how about some more attention for girls like Lakshmi Menon and Daul Kim?

Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann Drives David Letterman to Eat Lancome Powder

>> Best known for being the face of Lancome and holding green causes close to her heart (and maybe being Isabella Rosselini's daughter and Ingrid Bergman's granddaughter, too), Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann made an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman to talk about all of the aforementioned.

When she revealed she's going to London School of Economics in the Fall to study for a master's degree in biomedicine, David replied: "I don't even know what that means, "life medicine"?" Funnily enough, Elettra agreed: "I don't either, that's the ironic thing." But best of all is at the end, when David whips out a "Lancome powder compact" and starts to eat the "makeup" because it "smells delicious." Looks like the joke is on Elettra . . .

Beyond The Pale With 15 Minute Beauty

Summer is a time for lighter makeup and bronzed skin. Or at least that is what the marketing materials tell us. Thus we shouldn't be so surprised that a tinted moisturizer for paler skin would be hard to find. After all, just because we are trying to go lighter with our foundation doesn't mean we don't want to go darker! Except, well we really do prefer to stay out of the sun. Community member 15 Minute Beauty seems to have the same trouble as our editors with finding a sheer and light tint for summer. She gives the thumbs up to Become Tinted Moisturizer but we just had to weigh in as well with a few product choices. Our choice for the palest of them all? Julia Restoin-Roitfeld Doesn't Expect to Marry Her Boyfriend Robert Konjic

But a few years back, she wasn't modeling, period - "not at all hoping for anything or thinking about it." Her chosen career is art direction, and she works with a lot of young designers on small budgets: "I feel that's the whole thing about New York; it's all about supporting each other. Designer, photographer . . . you don't need to choose anything, which is what I like, just being creative." But the modeling has paid off in more ways than one - when she's on set, she observes the set design and lighting: "I need to know this for my clients. Modelling is like a constant internship because I keep learning."

Speaking of sets, that's where her mother, Carine Roitfeld, first met Julia's current boyfriend, 36-year-old model Robert Konjic: "Maybe 15 years ago for his first job, a Gucci campaign. When she found out we were dating she found it funny. I mean, 15 years ago I was 15, so she would never have expected him to date her daughter." She's been with Konjic two years, but, Restoin-Roitfeld says: "I don't think he wants to get married again - he's done it and it didn't work out for him. I'm really close to my family, and I really want one of my own. But the wedding, it's not necessary for me." (Her parents, who have been together 30 years, have never married.) If it were to happen, she says, "I'd want the dress to be by John Galliano. He makes the most beautiful dresses with a fishtail. I wouldn't mind that in satin with long sleeves - it makes the best silhouette. I have him in mind." (This interview seems to have been conducted pre-Galliano scandal.)

A website that will eventually include e-commerce is in the works (the label is currently sold at CoutureLab.com and Net-a-Porter) and she would also like to open stores - “bricks and mortar are very important in getting your vision across” - and expand into the contemporary market. There's also a project with Lancome being hammered out. Scott currently owns 100 percent of the label, but she says she would consider changing that should the right investor come along. [WWD]
