Keira Knightley Goes Darkly Glamorous For Interview

>> Keira Knightley is Interview magazine's April cover girl, and the photos she took for the magazine are rich, smoky, and complex.

Shot by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the pictures mostly feature Knightley wearing dramatic makeup and dark clothing. There's no shortage of leather jackets, and the shoot is heavy on clothes from French design houses like Celine, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, and Yves Saint Laurent. However, there's also a dash of Diane von Furstenberg thrown in for good measure.

Perhaps it's the interview that she did with director David Cronenberg that inspired the fancy dominatrix overtones in the shoot. Cronenberg directed Knightley in A Dangerous Method, in which there's a lot of spanking. While she's not exactly toting around a cat-o'-nine-tails, she does look dangerous.

>> The new, three-minute-long commercial for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume that a catsuit-clad Keira Knightley filmed at the Place de la Concorde in Paris last September is finally about to hit. It's coming to film and TV screens March 21, and a short clip of the commercial, done by Joe Wright, who also directed Knightley in Pride and Prejudice and Atonement, has been released, revealing the actress in what she calls her "Chanel superwoman" look.

Tom Ford to Show During London Fashion Week; Keira Knightley Not Face of Brand

>> It's well established at this point that Tom Ford won't be doing a show for his second womenswear collection - he'll only be doing press appointments with magazine editors . . . no news reporters allowed. A Ford spokesman confirmed: "[There] will only be a small presentation for international monthly magazines." And Harper's Bazaar is reporting that cameras will again be barred - save perhaps for Terry Richardson's. The appointments will be held at Ford's London showroom during London Fashion Week, instead of in New York like last season, which means that all the major fashion editors will have to stop by London. Perhaps that's partially why Emmanuelle Alt decided to attend London Fashion Week this season?

And speaking of Ford, there is no veracity to the rumors that Keira Knightley has signed on to be the collection's face for the next six years. Elle UK had reported that Knightley was modeling Ford's first womenswear collection for six years - since 2004 - and the wording was misconstrued. A Ford spokesperson told Fashionetc.: “Keira is just modeling the collection for the first time in six years. She is not the new face of the brand.”

>> Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley are a red carpet dream: the two have been taking the London Film Festival circuit by storm while promoting their new movie, Never Let Me Go. Yesterday alone, the duo stepped out in Chanel, Proenza Schouler, Vionnet, and Rodarte.

For their photo call, Mulligan donned a mustard yellow Pre-Spring 2011 Proenza Schouler dress paired with black Yves Saint Laurent pumps, while Knightley opted to wear Rodarte - marking the designers' first Spring 2011 piece to hit the red carpet - complemented with brown Christian Louboutin pumps. Later in the evening at the movie's premiere, Mulligan, a Vionnet fan in the past, chose a head-to-toe Spring 2011 look from the label - finishing it off with Giuseppe Zanotti for Vionnet gold wedges - while Knightley, a current Chanel face, picked a pearly Fall 2010 Chanel couture dress and chunky black pumps.

A Very Vogue Special Delivery

>> Just like with last September's issue, a select few received a courtesy September 2008 Vogue issue in "it" bag form. It comes in a clear carrying case with black leather and chain handles, but perhaps best is the box it arrived in. Last year's box came with "Caution: Heavy" stickers, and this year's stickers continue to poke fun — the issue isn't as big as last year's record-breaker, so instead, there's a "Caution (Still) Heavy" sticker. You have to love a self-deprecating Vogue.

Vogue Hitting a Slump to Rival the Economy's?

>> After all the is-it-or-is-it-not-racist hoopla the April 2008 issue of Vogue, featuring LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen, caused, news that the issue only sold 350,000 copies on the newsstand does not bode well. Patricularly because that number makes the issue Vogue's worst-selling April issue since 2001.

To make matters worse, the May 2008 issue, featuring a frigid Gwyneth Paltrow, sold even less: 310,000 copies (Vogue's 2007 average for the first half of the year was 452,207 issues sold). Maybe (for Anna's sake) Keira Knightley's cover, shot by Mario Testino for the September 2008 issue, will fare better?

Keira Knightley Films New Chanel Commercial on Motorcycle Over the Weekend

>> Keira Knightley was first named a face of Chanel back in 2006; shortly after she began appearing in the brand's Coco Mademoiselle fragrance ads. Now it seems she's refreshing her partnership with the brand: this past Saturday, she was snapped at the Place de la Concorde in Paris, reportedly filming a Chanel commercial in a camel suede jumpsuit and matching cap-toed boots. Knightley, who was captured riding a Ducati motorcycle, had a stunt double on set, and was at one point surrounded by a cadre of motorcycle-riding men in black jumpsuits and helmets.
