First Peek: Claudia Schiffer's Spring 2010 Chanel Ad Campaign Shoot

>> Earlier this week, Claudia Schiffer and Karl Lagerfeld were snapped on the Chanel Spring 2010 campaign shoot in and around Buenos Aires; Freja Beha Erichsen and Baptiste Giabiconi, who are also supposed to be in the campaign, were not so easily spotted. On Tuesday, Lagerfeld and Schiffer were on location just outside Buenos Aires in Monte Grande, where local media reports they stopped for a lunch of "rich barbeque." Then on Wednesday, they started production in Buenos Aires's oldest neighborhood, San Telmo, before they had to stop because of rain.

>> Spring 2010 Ad Campaign Casts for Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, and Chanel: Revealed - After skipping out on a traditional ad campaign last season, it sounds like Christian Dior is bringing it back for Spring 2010 - John Galliano revealed Monday that Karlie Kloss is his girl of choice for the brand. Karl Lagerfeld, meanwhile, is continuing the trio theme from the Spring 2010 Chanel show finale for his campaign cast - menage a trois participants Freja Beha Erichsen and Baptiste Giabiconi are both staying on, with Claudia Schiffer replacing Lara Stone; Lagerfeld plans to shoot the threesome on location in Buenos Aires, marking his first time in Argentina. And word is Nick Knight and Raquel Zimmermann, who worked together to produce the background video for Alexander McQueen's presentation, also collaborated on the designer's forthcoming campaign. Chanel Goes Farm Girl, Takes a Roll in Hay for Spring 2010

>> Inspired by Marie Antoinette's Petit Hameau farm at Versailles and the fact that he spent part of his childhood on a farm - "You hear a lot about the environment these days. I thought it would be interesting to put a fashion twist on it" - Karl Lagerfeld sent his parade of Chanel models stomping through dirt starting at the sound of a rooster's crow.

Guests sat on burlap aged to look mildewed as the high heel-clogged (Lagerfeld called them 5 o'clock clogs), fake tattooed, wicker basket-carrying girls stepped one by one from a giant haystack. The barnyard set took a month and a half of construction beforehand and then a week to assemble at the Grand Palais, where the show was held. Apparently pigs were supposed to be involved, too, but Heidi Mount Twittered that they were too scared to be in the show. Chanel face Lily Allen and mock band popped up through a trap door in the floor - Iekeliene Stange and Charlotte di Calypso provided backup singing - and Freja Beha Erichsen and Baptiste Giabiconi walked the runway four times together.

The last time, they were joined by Lara Stone as bride, and all "fell upon each other in the hay as Karl walked past to bow" - in jeans, no less - while Freja and Lara shared a kiss.

>> Loic Prigent's The Day Before series, documenting the 48 hours before Proenza Schouler, Fendi, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Sonia Rykiel shows, doesn't air on the Sundance Channel until Sept. 9, but they've put up 11 clips total spanning the four segments, and the entire Fendi episode has leaked to YouTube - watch here. A couple of favorite clips below: the first in which Karl Lagerfeld's muse Amanda Harlech yells for some music, initiating the Fendi employees' seasonal late night fashion show - one male staffer even wobbles the runway in vertiginous Fendi heels; the second in which Proenza Schouler's clearly nervous Jack McCullough - who yearns for a cheeseburger - and "fidgeting" Lazaro Hernandez are inclined to physically touch every look backstage before it goes out on the runway. Ikram boutique' Ikram Goldman calls it "blessing" the garment.

Double (or Triple) Duty Presentations

Gareth Pugh confirmed that he will be showing a video directed by Ruth Hogben on Sept. 13 to "set the mood for [his] catwalk show that will take place as usual in Paris." After the private showing, he'll screen the short film in public nearby - get your name on the guest list via MAC's Facebook page. [Style File]
Temperley London is taking their interactive Spring 2010 multimedia presentation on the road for the second time, starting in New York Sept. 15 before evolving in format for London Fashion Week and then again in Paris, where it will become an exhibit. The film aspect, plus stills and a behind-the-scenes cut will be readily available online on Temperley's new website.

Karl Lagerfeld Captures Muse Baptiste Giabiconi Au Naturel for Two Magazines

>> The Karl Lagerfeld-Baptiste Giabiconi collaborations keep rolling in: In the new Purple Fashion, Karl captured his male Gisele Bundchen in black stiletto heels as the Helmut Newton woman (left) - including one full-on backside shot (NSFW) that has created quite a stir. Purple founder Olivier Zahm posted a video of the shoot, in which Baptiste poses with a giraffe while Karl switches from snapping him with a professional camera to with a camera phone.

Lagerfeld was also asked to guest edit a cover and editorial for the October 2009 issue of Wallpaper. For his cover, Lagerfeld photographed a seemingly Dior Homme-clothed Baptiste, but he added a layer of paper to the magazine which can be peeled off to reveal Giabiconi naked. His 27-page editorial inside also focuses on Baptiste - in locales such as the Queen’s Theater in Versailles.

Karl Lagerfeld weighs in: “I think after the ugly skinny boys of Hedi [Slimane’s] days . . . some ‘beauty’ was needed, but new beauty." >> Matt Tyrnauer may have gotten ahold of Valentino for The Last Emperor, and RJ Cutler of Anna Wintour for The September Issue, but it's Loic Prigent who has really taken the whole fly-on-the-wall fashion documentary concept by the horns these past few years. He did Signe Chanel, a five-part series on the creation of Chanel's Fall 2004 couture collection, and the 2007 film Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, which captures Marc waddling in pigeon costume and finding inspiration for a bag from a collection of pastel macaroons; both Signe Chanel and Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton have been uploaded to YouTube.

His latest project, announced back in June, is The Day Before, set to air for four consecutive nights starting Sept. 10 on the Sundance Channel. Prigent tracks four design houses - Proenza Schouler, Sonia Rykiel, Fendi, and Jean Paul Gaultier - in the 36 hours before their Fall 2009 ready-to-wear shows, with the exception of Gaultier, who is captured before his Fall 2009 couture show.
