>> Spring party season is in full swing, bringing New York's fash pack out in droves. On Thursday, Ferragamo feted the reopening of its gorgeous 5th Avenue flagship by inviting Solange Knowles - divine in head-to-toe Ferragamo, of course- to spin records for a well-heeled crowd that included Sarah Reynolds, Lauren Remington Platt, and Genevieve Jones.

Across the street, Cartier celebrated the opening of its "Cartier & Aldo Cipullo, New York City in the '70s" exhibit with a glam soiree that saw the likes of Arizona Muse, Lily Collins, and Charlotte Casiraghi. Later that evening, the party continued downtown, where Leigh Lezark (left) kept the crowd - which included Chanel Iman and Karlie Kloss, both in Cushnie et Ochs - dancing all night long.

Sneak Peek - The Complete Anthropologie Capsules From Gregory Parkinson, Karen Walker, John Patrick, and More

>> Because everyone loves a good collaboration: in just a few short days Anthropologie will launch Made in Kind, a new ecommerce platform featuring 11 exclusive capsule collections from some of the most intriguing designers around. Among those involved in the project's April 5 debut? Established favorites Karen Walker, Gregory Parkinson, and John Patrick; up-and-comers Samantha Pleet and Charlotte Linton; and newbies Rachel Rose and Koto Bolofo.

With pieces priced from $84 to $470, the various collections offer an accessible introduction to each designer's respective aesthetic: there are whimsically printed dresses in vintage silhouettes from Karen Walker, clean-lined blouses and bottoms in sustainable fabrics from John Patrick, and hand-dyed tops and skirts in vivid hues from Gregory Parkinson. "I think women who say 'I never wear print or color' will be surprised when they try on these items," Parkinson says of his collection.

>> Karen Walker's particular breed of Aussie quirk gets a kick of Victorian romance for Fall 2012. High-neck blouses, nipped-waist dresses, and ornate brocades all got play, as did Belle Epoque skirts and ruffle-cuffed sleeves. But don't go thinking Walker's changed her offbeat ways. There was also a hefty dose of '60s pop and even a little Captain Nemo worked into the fray. The former was found in oversized paisleys and super-vivid hues, the latter in Naval coats and Winklepicker shoes. Classic Karen Walker - through and through.

Karen Walker to Partner With Anthropologie

>>This Spring, Karen Walker brings her particular breed of New Zealand girlie-quirk to the American mass market by storm. As announced via the brand's Twitter and Facebook earlier today, the designer has inked a deal with Anthropologie that puts her lower-priced Hi There From Karen Walker line of "cute dresses, fun prints, and strong colors" exclusively at 164 Anthropologie stores, starting March 2012. "It's completely different to everything else we've been doing," Walker told The New Zealand Herald. "We've been in the luxury market for 14 years, but this reaches a wider audience . . . [it's] a totally different price point, a totally different product and it's really our first time in the States going en masse." >> For Spring 2012, Karen Walker riffed on the idea of "The American Girl", citing two polar-opposites in particular: buttoned-up Betsy and street-wise Iris from the 1976 movie Taxi Driver. And so out came the straight skirts, prim blouses, and secretary dresses for Betsy; jaunty jumpsuits, mixed-up prints, and mini-skirts for Iris. But fans of Walker know the designer doesn't like to play her references too straight, and thus these '70s girls got a bit of a 1940s twist - pants were cropped and pleated, blazers were shoulder-padded and twee, and peplums flared over many a hip.

Karen Walker Fall 2009 Collection

Karen Walker's Fall 2009 collection, which was shown during New York Fashion Week, was titled "Cracked". On the runway the theme manifested in chic break-away jackets and quirky prints depicting shattered china plates and broken strands of pearls. Walker also experimented with princess sleeves this season, showing the new silhouette on everything from trench coats to jersey dresses. Check out the full range of looks in the gallery below.
