Vogue Germany Tells "The Naked Truth" For Health Initiative Issue

For its June 2012 issue, German Vogue tapped Peter Lindbergh for a series of black-and-white portraits that reveal - and celebrate - what other magazines often try to hide.

The resulting editorial, cleverly named "The Naked Truth," features German models Toni Garnn and Nadja Auermann, as well as actress Nina Hoss and photographer Donata Wenders, among others, in various states of undress.

Lindbergh's sometimes raw images were taken under the new Vogue Health Initiative, which asks the magazine's 19 editions to portray a healthier, more inclusive image of women in their pages. June issues of 18 of those magazines will be dedicated to health and wellness - American Vogue featured Olympic athletes and French Vogue asked Gisele Bundchen for advice on staying fit. Vogue Japan's healthy issue will bow in July.

Brazilians Still Going Strong at Victoria's Secret Fashion Show; Plus, After Party Images

>> Victoria's Secret models are all over fashion editorials and campaigns these days - Models.com suspects Candice Swanepoel might be next to cross over - and no wonder, with 10 and Harper's Bazaar editor Sophia Neophitou as show stylist. As Neophitou told Style.com of casting the show: “It’s such an editorial level . . . We looked at girls we love to shoot editorially; that’s what great. I think there’s a perception before you get here of what will work. But the reality is, it’s about the girl, it’s about the woman, what she brings as a human being to it, rather than has she got a size 34C cup. No, it’s not about that at all. That’s what they’ve got the miracle bras for.”

Brazilians were heavily favored as usual this year, with Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart, Flavia Oliveira, Lais Ribeiro, Fabiana Semprebom, Emanuela de Paula, Gracie Carvalho, and Martha Streck all representing; 10 Brazilians out of the 33 total models. The 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Unveiled - Karolina Kurkova, Jessica Stam, and Lily Donaldson Work It

>> Anne Vyalitsyna peeked out in a pink robe and waved at the crowd gathering at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York, where the 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was taped this evening in front of an audience that included Carine Roitfeld, Giovanna Battaglia, Alexander Wang, Zac Posen and his boyfriend Christopher Niquet, Kate Lanphear, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Then, an announcer came on, asking that cell phones be stowed: "Frankly, if you need to use those devices at a show like this, you've got other problems."

Lais Ribeiro, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Lily Donaldson, and Heloise Guerin all walked for Victoria's Secret for the first time today, but it was Angel Adriana Lima who opened the show, riding a twirling carousel to make her debut in the first, "Tough Love"-themed segment (She and Karolina Kurkova both made their return after skipping last year's show while pregnant.). It was the first of many minor obstacles the 33 models had to maneuver through during the show, all while smiling and waving to the crowd. In the sporty "Game On" segment, while twirling her ribbon stick, Izabel Goulart, got the ribbon stuck around her neck and had to untangle herself; Candice Swanepoel estimated her "Heavenly Bodies" wings weighed half of her body weight - "It’s like driving a car because they’re so far away from my body. I have to turn them before I turn my body. It’s an honor to get them. I told my trainer, ‘You better prepare me for this! We’ve been doing some extra push ups!’”; Anja Rubik, too, had expansive wings in the "Heavenly Bodies" - turning at the end of the runway with all those streamers deserved applause in itself; and in the final, "Pink Planet" segment, mylar balloon rained the runway from above, causing Maryna Linchuk and Jacquelyn Jablonski to have to kick them out of the way to get down the runway.

But there was plenty of fun to be had - Isabeli Fontana, who closed out the "Game On" segment, hammed it up for the cameras with her dumbbell prop, and Lily Aldridge had the support of her fiance Caleb Followill and the rest of Kings of Leon, front row. In the next section over, Anne V's boyfriend Adam Levine and the rest of Maroon 5 gave her a standing ovation as she made her first runway appearance - which Anne rewarded with a blown kiss.

Akon and Katy Perry both performed - him appropriately singing "Angel," and her singing "Teenage Dream" for the younger, Victoria's Secret Pink-themed segment. And Chanel Iman closed the show in bubble wings with a bubble-squirting gun. The final cut airs Nov. 30 on CBS.

Shortly after Estee Lauder tapped Chinese model Liu Wen - the brand's first Asian face - earlier this year, Lauder global brand president Jane Hertzmark Hudis acknowledged: “China is our fastest-growing market. What better way to honor that than to hire a native of the country?” And Aerin Lauder, SVP and creative director, added: “We’re doing very well in Asia, and we’re No. 1 in China. So Liu Wen sends the perfect message at the perfect time.”

2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Unveiled: Anja Rubik, Chanel Iman, and Anna Jagodzinska Work It

>> Abbey Lee Kershaw wasn't feeling well backstage, neither was Eniko Mihalik, but they pulled it together to walk in the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which taped today in New York City - on a big, sparkly V-shaped runway - and will air on CBS Dec. 1. Many of the girls chatted about what they had for breakfast - coffee and fruit for many - but Anja Rubik, who was convinced to walk the show for the first time by good friends (and fellow walkers) Mayna Linchuk and Caroline Trentini, admitted: "I've decided this will be my starving day today."

This year's big surprise? Heidi Klum decided to walk for the twelfth show in a row, after all, six weeks after giving birth to her fourth child. Adriana Lima, on the other hand, who gave birth Sunday, sat this one out; Emanuela de Paula and Flavia Oliveira, rumored to walk, were also nowhere to be seen.

The show features five sections of twelve outfits each - this year's themes are Star Trooper, All Aboard, Pink Planet, Enchanted Forest, and Romantic Journey. As show stylist Charlotte Stockdale explains it: “We came up with the idea of this girl who lands from outer space in Paris. She gets on a train that comes to a halt in Pinkland, where pink girls get on and off. Then they go into this fairy-tale forest and little lady bugs and butterflies land on them and vines grow up on their clothes. Then, there’s Tick-Tock Time; the wings in this section are based on clocks - there’s one modeled after a pocket watch with metallic feathers. And she ends up in this regal realm of princess-ness, where the wings have Swarovski jewels and peacock feathers.”

Zac Posen, Alexander Wang, Carine Roitfeld (in Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2002), and Patrick Demarchelier were all in attendance, and Chanel Iman tossed her handbag into the audience as she walked.

Chanel Iman, Anna Jagodzinska, and Arlenis Sosa Introduce Their Boyfriends

>> Some models are forthcoming about who they're dating, like Doutzen Kroes, who's been seeing DJ Ruckus for a little over a year - they met at a Vogue party in 2007 - while some, like Chanel Iman, like to keep their fans guessing. In the May 2009 issue of Vogue, Chanel - who finally comes clean about dating rapper Tyga, a relationship rumored since late last year - Doutzen, plus four other models pose with their boys for Patrick Demarchelier.

Some relationships blossomed within the industry - Julia Stegner and Steven Pan, who is Steven Meisel's first assistant; Caroline Trentini and Victor Demarchelier, who first saw each other when he was assisting his father Patrick on a shoot three years ago; Arlenis Sosa Pena and model Rene Rodriguez, who met through their agent; while some went outside the industry - Doutzen, Chanel, and Anna Maria Jagodzinska, who sees economics grad student Duncan Winecoff. Curiously missing from the spread (though she appears elsewhere in the issue)? Lily Donaldson and Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld.

Rag & Bone Fall 2009: Packed to the Gills, With Goodness

>> Rag & Bone always attracts the legions - last season there was enough trouble filing in when the show space was the vast Pier 94; this season, the crowd had to push and shove their way through the two small double doors of Cedar Lake Ballet Theater, and a number of people who were supposed to have seats were forced to stand. While the rest of us were bumped and budged, immobile, Julia Restoin Roitfeld knew how to conquer the immovable best - just after she waved hello to Genevieve Jones, a tall, modelesque man parted the crowd with an "Excuse me, I'm late for the show." Presumably, everyone assumed he was a model trying to get backstage fifteen minutes after the show was scheduled to start. Julia saw him and latched onto his elbow with a "Hey, Zack, I'm going to use you as an excuse to get through." And with that, she was in - the rest of us still in the same place. Turns out, the guy wasn't even in the show.

But Edita Vilkeviciute was, and Isabeli Fontana - who closed - Diana Farkhullina and Sigrid Agren - all new faces, in addition to Rag & Bone perennial favorites like Coco Rocha, Lily Donaldson, Sasha Pivovarova, Jessica Stam, and Julia Stegner. The label's usual palette of navy, black, and gray was in place, with some unexpected pops of red in a flower brooch here, in an obi belt there. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville worked with a different stylist this season - Tabitha Simmons - and she helped them take it to a new level - the chain mail detailing on a hem or peeking out under a jacket was an especially unique touch.

2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Unveiled: Lara, Edita, and Sessilee Strut It

>> After weeks of speculation, we got our answers. As rumored, Izabel Goulart is no longer a Victoria's Secret Angel - there is speculation that she broke her contract to work for Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange - but she, along with the Angels and 26 other non-Angel models, taped the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Miami on Saturday. There were a few casting surprises - no Asian models?; some disappointments - no Natasha Poly or Jessica Stam; and lots of newcomers - Arlenis Sosa Pena, Sarah Stephens, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Sessilee Lopez, Clara Alonso, Edita Vilkeviciute, Erin Heatherton, and even Lara Stone made it after all. Broken glass catwalk aside, Maryna Linchuk had a stellar outing - many have their bets on a Angel contract for her in the future - and Doutzen Kroes cozied up to boyfriend DJ Ruckus at the after-party. All in all, enough party to hold us over until the show airs Dec. 3.

>> As the Victoria's Secret yacht rolled into Miami and the girls had a beach photoshoot today, we got to see of the 30 non-Angel faces that will be participating in this weekend's fashion show - 19 of them, to be exact. No sign of Lara Stone, Jessica Stam, or Natasha Poly, but after missing yesterday's event, Izabel Goulart is there. There are plenty of new faces - Abbey Lee Kershaw and Sarah Stephens represent Australia, Arlenis Sosa Pena the Dominican Republic, Maryna Linchuk Belarus, and Erin Heatherton the US.
