A Complete Look at the Gryson Fall 2011 Collection; Plus, Details on Joy Gryson's New High-End Capsule Handbags

>> Last night at The James Hotel's rooftop bar The Jimmy, Joy Gryson previewed her Fall 2011 Gryson collection, which marks the designer's first time using sharkskin. The aim for the collection, Gryson says, was "to evoke a sense of soft and sensual mood, while still playing up to the expected edgy, downtown aesthetic." Hardware was designed "from natural elements like horn," and, Gryson adds, "I used a lot of earth tones for the color palette."

Gryson is also launching her new high-end handbag collection, Capsule by Joy Gryson, for Fall, which focuses on two different shapes - square with a removable chain strap or a rectangular clutch - that come in eight styles (think materials like stingray, astrakhan, python, and again with the sharkskin). “I wanted something for going to dinner,” the designer explained. “But none of that pristine stuffy stuff." >>In the CFDA Awards aftermath, the images of Raquel Zimmerman modeling each nominated designer's duds, which were produced for a book handed out at last night's award ceremony, have appeared, albeit in small form, featuring Raquel wearing chain eyelashes under her eyes for the Rodarte shot, and a crazy punk wig for the Subversive Jewelry photo.

Despite a Death in the Family, the CFDA Awards March On

>> While the "fashion Oscars" are a time for celebration, this year, many attendees had another recent event on their minds - the recently deceased Yves Saint Laurent. In tribute, Diane von Furstenberg wore vintage YSL, Naomi Campbell donned Fall 2008 Saint Laurent, and Ashley Olsen riffed on Le Smoking in her Calvin Klein suit.

As expected, models and designers turned out in droves - Erin Wasson, still in leg cast, was by Alexander Wang's side, and Francisco Costa celebrated his Womenswear win by hugging Eva Mendes tight.

Collab Mad: Joy Gryson Handbags For Target

In April of this year, Target will be releasing a line of faux-leather handbags designed by Joy Gryson. Gryson, who has designed for Coach and Marc Jacobs, had enough it-bag experience to catapult her own line, Gryson, into mass popularity. And everyone knows, once you become an 'it' designer, Target will come knocking on your door. The Gryson line for Target introduces the Bottega Veneta-like woven leather that Gryson uses in her own collections, in a sophisticated palate of hunter green, black, slate blue, and white.
