Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn Take It Off for i-D's Exhibitionist Issue

>> Karlie Kloss is growing up: she turned 18 last August, and it seems like she's comfortable showing more skin these days. She stripped down for the cover of i-D's Spring 2011 Exhibitionist Issue alongside her best friend Jourdan Dunn, holding a strategically placed hat, and inside the magazine there's more of the same - modest poses in no clothes or a convenient crop job.

"Jour Jour" and "Kar," as they call each other ("We're too lazy to say each other's full name!" Kloss says) - or "Jourlie," which Dunn explains is what "people call us when we're together," also gave an interview together. Among the things we learned:

They share a birthday: "I was born Aug. 3, 1992," Kloss says, "and Jourdan was born Aug. 3, 1990. We're birthday twins."

They're both serially late: "Our call time [for the i-D shoot] wasn't until 4 pm," Kloss says, "so we spent the day apartment hunting in New York. Then had a bite to eat at a little diner before heading to the shoot. We still ended up being 25 minutes late! Both of us have serious problems being on time…"

Karlie's favorite part of her body: "Karlie is obsessed with her bum," Dunn says. "She loves it."

Jourdan is no longer with the father of her son, who was arrested a year ago: "Last year was a tough year for me. I went through a lot with my personal life but thank goodness my Mum was there for me every step of the way. I'm now not scared of being a single mother."

Jourdan didn't have to diet, post-baby: "To be honest, I didn't work out or follow an eating plan. I was loving my new body so much I was trying my hardest to keep the baby weight on! I breast fed for nine months though and people say breast-feeding helps you lose weight."

Karlie wants a big family: "[My longterm dreams are] to go to medical school and start a big family of my own… I want five boys!"

Jourdan loves her some fried chicken: "I've been known to turn up to a show with KFC! I don't care. If I need to eat, I'm gonna eat."

Jourdan's son, Riley, has sickle cell disease: "The hardest thing is not knowing if Riley is just miserable or if he's in pain and having a crisis. Last December he had his first crisis, and he was submitted to hospital for a blood transfusion. It was the scariest thing. All I wanted to do was take the pain away… I felt helpless as a mother. But now we have experienced his first crisis we are more prepared and know what to look out for."

Jourdan's most fun night ever involved Abbey Lee Kershaw getting locked in a bathroom: "We went to the Versace party in Milan with Abbey Lee. Abbey got locked in the toilets for an hour and we couldn't get her out! I will never forget that."

Prabal Gurung Goes Edgier, Dressier, and Gets Stronger for Fall 2011

>> Prabal Gurung had us at look number one - when Karlie Kloss stomped out in a brilliant red dress, sexy in its full party skirt and sleeve nonchalantly slipping off one shoulder. The designer says he was dually inspired by John Singer Sargent’s A Parisian Beggar Girl and Miss Havisham from Great Expectations for Fall 2011, but really, it was about a simple challenge: "Can I do undone? . . . After such a long time of tight, short dresses constantly, I thought that was something so chic.”

Gurung returned to his dressier roots after last season's more sportswear-driven stint - there were textures galore (furs, sequins, intricate appliques and the like, which made for some expensive-looking pieces). But that's not to say that the collection was uber feminine; in fact, with its black leather moto gloves and leather lashings around the waist, it forayed into edgier territory than Gurung has tried in the past. Pink hair streaks (which have also been spotted this week on stylist and WSJ contributor Lauren Goodman and the model Charlotte Free) finished off the look, and evidence that the designer's star keeps rising came in both the caliber of model cast (Kloss, who walked Gurung's show for the first time, Constance Jablonski, Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls, Liu Wen) and the number of editor-in-chiefs in the front row (including Robbie Myers, Emmanuelle Alt, and Anna Wintour, who was joined by Bee Shaffer).

What's Black and White, Gold, and Lacy? Jason Wu's Fall 2011 Collection

>> Karlie Kloss, Jason Wu's usual runway opener, was at his show as usual . . . but this time, she walked second to last - Daphne Groeneveld opened, and Kloss's best friend Jourdan Dunn closed. But that wasn't the only big change Wu made for this season - though known for his use of color, Wu's Fall 2011 collection - "baroque American sportswear," as he called it - is primarily black and white.

Gold was also on the designer's mind, thanks to his inspiration - the restoration of Versailles. He had the models walk on a slippery runway of gilded antique mirrors, some with gold paint in their hair, in gold-dipped stiletto heels. Lace, too, played a major role - a number of models wore structured lace Maison Michel masks, and Wu incorporated more than 15 different types of lace, specially woven in France, into the collection.

It was the end of an intense marathon for Wu - he said backstage that he slept only two hours last night, and hadn't eaten in two days.

Karolina Kurkova May Be Back on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Runway This Year

But it sounds like she might be back onstage this year - she, along with girls like Jourdan Dunn, Jessica Stam, Caroline Trentini, Lais Ribeiro, and Lily Donaldson, were among those brought in for final casting callbacks for this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which tapes on Nov. 10. According to rumors, last night, Gucci demanded all girls cast in their show fly into Milan, pronto. That means Burberry's usual all-star London lineup - Freja Beha Erichsen and Lily Donaldson among them - were already gone; Burberry did nab Jourdan Dunn and Lisanne De Jong, however.

Marc Jacobs Looks to Yves Saint Laurent and the '70s - Things That Made Him Fall in Love with Fashion - for Spring 2011

>> Half an hour before Marc Jacobs's show was scheduled to start at 8 pm this evening, his team Tweeted, "Marcs ready now. Were waiting for editors." And Cathy Horyn reports that they had hoped to start at 7:45 pm. But it turns out that once again, Marc's show started right on the dot, with six models walking at once, each coming from different exits in the gold circular centerpiece, as Vivaldi's "Summer" from The Four Seasons played over the loudspeaker.

The show was pure '70s, recalling Bianca Jagger and Jodie Foster from Taxi Driver - all wide-legged trousers, frizzy hair, with oversized flower corsages and gold glitter platforms. A jolt of color, Jacobs (who took his bow in pants and Cuban heeled shoes in place of a skirt) said backstage, after last season's beige. He also cited the New York Dolls, Antonio Lopez, Yves Saint Laurent, and Calvin Klein as references, explaining that he wanted to celebrate everything that made him fall in love with fashion. Jamie Bochert, who owes her career to Marc, made her first appearance of the week, and Jourdan Dunn and Alessandra Ambrosio walked, too. Redheaded newbie Luisa Bianchin opened.

It appears that Jacobs's recent celebrity ban was lifted: Alexa Chung and Nacho Figueras were there, and Courtney Love was late and caught the tail end of the show, which ended at 8:11 pm. Jacobs's ex-fiance, Lorenzo Martone, gave him a hug and kiss backstage afterward. And rumor has it that the show's set will do double duty as the Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 campaign backdrop, to be shot in tandem with the show.

Fashion's Night Out's Fashion Show Featured a Dancing Gisele, a Rapping Pharrell, and a Whole Lot of Designer Duds

>> The audience at tonight's Fashion's Night Out fashion show wasn't limited to the 1,500 ticket-holders - crowds gathered behind police barricades across the street from the Lincoln Center Plaza for a glimpse of New York City's largest fashion show. Those who were lucky enough to nab tickets to the show were treated to a concentric-circled runway setup, with rows no more than two deep. Not only that, but among the audience was a large smattering of designers - Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Diane von Furstenberg, Jenna Lyons, Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, Vera Wang, Francisco Costa, and Donna Karan among them; models - Lauren Hutton, Bar Rafaeli, Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann; and other industry figures, including Anna Wintour, with favorites Blake Lively and Roger Federer next to her, and Si Newhouse himself. Bee Shaffer arrived 45 minutes early to the event, holding hands with boyfriend Jake Hurwitz.

Anna Wintour's fears that the show, scheduled to start at 7:30 pm, would begin late were unmerited - it started on the dot with Alicia Keys's "Empire State of Mind" playing on the loudspeaker as spotlights searched the audience and the fountain in the center of the setup rose and then fell.

As the audience looked for Gisele Bundchen, set to open the show's 171 looks, a Fashion's Night Out doubledecker bus pulled up next to the Plaza, carrying Bundchen, Angela Lindvall, Karolina Kurkova, Coco Rocha, Lily Donaldson, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Caroline Trentini, Sasha Pivovarova, Adriana Lima, Chanel Iman, and Karlie Kloss, each dressed in a Fashion's Night Out tee paired with a long ballgown skirt and heels. The twelve models dismounted the bus one by one, forming a line in front of the Plaza steps as the rest of the 150 model cast filled in behind them.

Gisele leading the way, the twelve openers made their way around the fountain, soon followed by groups of models clipping by showcasing "Fifties Flair," "Tartan Twist," "Rock Chic," "Go Global," and "Jazz-Age Cool." Each group wormed their way around the circular runway, the models coming in quick succession, highly choreographed and sometimes stopping and turning. A few were suffering from their heels by the end - Rose Cordero and Heidi Mount among them - and those in the "Weekend Wrap-Up" group, all swathed in capes and jackets, had sweat rolling from their temples after all the parading, thanks to the humid Indian Summer air.

Pharrell Williams popped up on the center fountain to close the extravaganza in a surprise performance, and Gisele and the rest of the openers paraded and danced back to the bus, this time in full-on designer gowns, with Naomi Campbell in the finale spot. As Pharrell joined them, he encouraged the audience - ticketed and not - to shop New York, because after all, that was the whole point of this 15-minute shindig. So will it work?
