A Look Inside Emmanuelle Alt's First Vogue Paris Issue

>> Although Emmanuelle Alt says her full vision for Vogue Paris won't be felt until the August 2011 issue, the April 2011 issue marks her first as editor-in-chief of the magazine. Already, she's made some changes - expanded beauty coverage, simpler layouts and typography, a bigger commitment to feature articles among them. And she has plenty more in mind: “I want to show in French Vogue more and more a lot of clothes." In fact, of this first issue, she says: "It’s simple fashion. You can see the clothes perfectly.”

She plans to continue devoting covers largely to models, but will require them to show less skin than they did under Carine Roitfeld's eye. “One boob,” she says of this first issue: “Otherwise, you don’t recognize it’s French Vogue.” And instead of Roitfeld's edgier vision, Alt says: “I want the Vogue to become very feminine. Women are very interested in fashion and beauty.” She's also recruiting a new team of freelance stylists: “I want to have new people working for the magazine. I also want to push some young stylists: all the girls who have been trained by French Vogue.” A look at the outcome - Alt's first issue - in the slideshow.

Spring 2010 Campaign Scuttlebutt: Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, and Celine

>> Spring 2010 may be a "safe" campaign season in the making, but not all designers are afraid to change things up. Word is up-and-coming photographer Josh Olins has breached the usually ad-shooting group of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Mario Testino, Mario Sorrenti, David Sims, Steven Meisel, and Steven Klein, nabbing the Spring 2010 Giorgio Armani campaign as his own. And it's rumored Juergen Teller won't just be exclusive to Marc Jacobs image-making this season: apparently he's helping Phoebe Philo curate the new Celine image by photographing newcomer Valerija Kelava and Carmen Kass for her first ads for the brand.

As for Stefano Pilati, it sounds like he's sticking to his winning supermodel-Inez and Vinoodh formula, going on six seasons strong. Natalia Vodianova, WWD reports, is said to be next up.

Kate Moss Missed Opportunity on Gossip Girl, About to Launch Eleventh Collection for Topshop

>> Kate Moss was supposed to be on Gossip Girl last season, Blake Lively told The Cut, "but it ended up not working out." That missed chance aside, Kate's collaboration with Topshop is still working out - her 11th collection comes out Aug. 31, and focuses on the grunge look, according to Kate: “This season’s grunge is all about being creative about how you put your look together, and not necessarily spending a fortune. It’s about being a little bit surprising and very creative. I love the glamour of adding some vintage to my look, and have done for years, as it keeps things original."

One of her favorite pieces from the collection, captured by Josh Olins below, is a black leather pencil skirt, she told the Times UK: “The shape is really lady, but the leather gives it a real grungy, cool, rock’n’roll feel, especially if you wear it with shredded tights and lived-in leather army boots."

>> INSIDER WIRE -The first preview of Katie Grand's new magazine Love, which makes its debut in just two short weeks - Feb. 19 - has hit the interwebs. We already have some idea of what to expect from the magazine - Beth Ditto on the cover, Darya Kurovska appearing in two editorials, Lara Stone photographed by Angelo Pennetta - and now a look at Agyness Deyn as the Queen, part of an "Icons" series Josh Olins shot for the magazine. Not that it was expected to be otherwise, but this is not your typical fashion magazine - Katie told Interview of the first issue: "It's very curvy. No one is a sample size in the whole issue, and it's not so retouched. I just wanted to take pictures of iconic people without redrawing them." [Fashionista]

Oh, the Colors!

>> I think this editorial from Dazed & Confused's June 2008 issue might win the award for longest title ever: "Clouded In Tulle, Regal Tones And Polka Dot Cocktail Dresses This Eccentric Debutante Rules The Manor, Seducing Suitors With Her Signature Look Of Pearls, Feather Boas And Opera Gloves."

But don't think too hard on it, the beauty of this set is not in the title, but rather the vividly saturated colors - they remind me of those you see in Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott's work, except not quite as airbrushed.
