Gypsies Convinced Kate Moss To Get Married, She Tells September Vogue

>> Kate Moss tells Vogue's September 2011 issue - which she covers - that after a romantic trip to Thailand two years into her relationship with Jamie Hince, “we were just so loved up, and he asked me to marry him every day.” So what made her finally take the plunge, at 37? Apparently, the British TV series Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. “I am so romantic about gypsies,” Kate explains. “They’re not allowed to do anything until they get married. So they all get married really young, at sixteen. You can’t believe the dresses. They’re like blinging butterflies times ten; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius. I was just watching Jamie, so cute, and I was like, these girls, they just spend their whole life waiting for that day - let’s do it!”

“I’ve met them all throughout the years,” Mario Testino - who captured Vogue's extensive portfolio of Moss's wedding (she shifted her wedding date from Saturday to Friday to accommodate Testino's schedule) - says of Kate's past paramours, “but [Jamie] is the most real. He has a great sense of humor.”

But, as the wedding date nears, Hince “is terrified,” says Moss. As for herself: “Let’s put it this way. If I didn’t have my friends . . . I don’t know how people do it. I’ve had big birthday parties, and I’ve thrown parties for other people, but this is a completely different thing. It’s the Met Ball! Because you have to look at every piece of cutlery; the details are intense. And then you wake up thinking about the ballet shoes for the girls; is the satin ribbon right? I’ve gone mental. Jamie thinks I’m mad, asking, ‘Are you gonna be all right? After the wedding, I’m hoping you’ll get back to normal!’”

Of her vision of the wedding, Moss says: “I wanted it to be kind of dreamy and 1920s, when everything is soft-focus. The Great Gatsby. The code name was GG for a while. That light and that kind of fun decadence. It’s rock-’n’-roll Great Gatsby!”

It follows, then, that John Galliano, who designed Moss's wedding dress, was inspired by Jazz Age photographs of F. Scott's wife Zelda Fitzgerald. Moss says she wanted “a classic Galliano, those chiffon thirties kind. I’ve lived in his dresses for years, and they just make me feel so comfortable. But it’s so much more couture, couture, couture. Oh, my God, the work that’s going into the dress!”

As Vogue tells it: Moss and Galliano "discussed everything on the phone, and then, when John was out of rehab for the first of four marathon fittings, he brought her 'bags full of bits, and pulled tulle and sequins and veils and flowers out. And then we just kind of pinned things together, like the old days, you know?' The skirts are symbolically licked with the beaded plumes of a mythical phoenix, 'delicate and defiant, like Kate.'"

"She dared me to be John Galliano again,” the designer added. “I couldn’t pick up a pencil. It’s been my creative rehab.” The relationship goes both ways, though. Just before Moss, ever the model, sets off to her wedding church she requests “a few words, a story to inspire her - she loves a bit of direction!” Galliano says. “I told her, ‘You have a secret - you are the last of the English roses - and when he lifts your veil he’s going to see your wanton past!’”

Later, the favor is returned: When Kate's father thanks Galliano for “the beautiful dress,” every wedding guest stands in ovation, causing the designer's eyes to well up.

The Honeymoon's Over - Kate Moss and Jamie Hince Are Back in London

>> Kate Moss and Jamie Hince's honeymoon - spent tooling around the Mediterranean in Sir Philip Green's yacht near Portofino, St. Tropez, and Corsica - has ended a little shorter than the predicted two weeks, perhaps due to an earthquake near Corsica. But not before they received a couple of unique honeymoon gifts: Terry de Havilland sent Moss a pair of scarlet snakeskin stillettos with "F*ck you" spelled out in Swarovski crystals on one sole and "F*ck me" spelled out on the other; and another friend reportedly let Banksy into Moss and Hince's house while they were gone so that the graffiti artist could do a mural in their bathroom.

Moss and Hince were spotted out at dinner with a friend at The Wolseley last night in London, and then running errands to the White Cube contemporary art gallery in London today with Moss's daughter Lila Grace Hack.

Kate Moss, Jamie Hince Spotted on Honeymoon in Corsica

>> It turns out the rumors that Sir Philip Green lent newlyweds Kate Moss and Jamie Hince a yacht for their honeymoon were right: the couple was photographed on Green's 206-foot boat, the Lionheart, Wednesday off the coast of Corsica (PopSugar has pictures).

Moss and Hince are said to be in the midst of a two-week Mediterranean cruise, which started when they took a private jet to Nice on Sunday followed by a 30-minute helicopter ride to Monaco, where they boarded the yacht. Since, they have reportedly made their way to Portofino, Italy; Cannes; Saint Tropez; and Corsica.

Kate Moss the Bride - A First Look at Her Zelda Fitzgerald-Inspired Galliano Dress

>> A few pictures are starting to roll in of Kate Moss heading to her wedding in a silver Rolls Royce, her father Peter and 8-year-old daughter Lila Grace Hack (who's set to serve as her chief bridesmaid and is said to be wearing Stella McCartney) by her side. Her dress, confirmed to be designed by John Galliano, is lightly sequined, and her shoes are confirmed to be Manolo Blahniks with blue lining - as in "something blue" - rather than Christian Louboutin as previously thought.

The wedding dress was inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald, whose engagement ring Moss is wearing. Galliano did the final fitting earlier this week in Europe, while in care, WWD reports. “Kate is his biggest muse and he was never, ever going to let his friend down,” one source said. “He did Kate’s 21st birthday dress, her 30th birthday dress, and Galliano’s show was the first she ever walked for. So this wedding day ties up a lot of things beautifully.”

Moss is expected to make a number of outfit changes this evening, Vogue UK reports, three of which will be designed by her close friend Stella McCartney. For her first dance, Moss will wear an oyster silk chiffon dress with embroidered bodice and a cut-out back, then she'll change into a mini body-con dress with a plunging back and beading all over. Finally, for her going-away suit, she'll wear a single-breasted, three-piece white wool suit.

Naomi Campbell (wearing Givenchy couture by Riccardo Tisci), Stella McCartney (in a white, tailored look of her own design), Daphne Guinness (in a light blue dress of her own design), Philip Treacy, Carine Roitfeld (in vintage Galliano), Emmanuelle Alt (in Balmain), and Anna Wintour (in a Mondrian-inspired Prada dress) are all understood to have attended the ceremony.

Kate Moss's Wedding Ceremony Is Under Way

Pictures of the wedding may be few and far between - Vogue has the exclusive for their September 2011 issue, with Mario Testino on camera duty - and the events are under security lockdown, with both neighboring villages of Southrop and Little Faringdon closed down. In fact, wedding guests and locals had to be issued permits to allow them to pass through roadblocks. However, PopSugar has a look at Kate on her way to the ceremony this afternoon in her veil.

Last night, Moss and Hince gave paparazzi a rare treat, posing for photographs outside The Swan pub in Southrop before their rehearsal dinner. Moss, in a vintage dress and blue Tabitha Simmons boots, looked visibly ecstatic, and apparently told the Daily Mail: "I was so nervous when I was practising signing the register. I've been so stressed out. My hands were shaking like an old woman's!" As for Hince, the couple's friend, Primal Scream bassist Mani said: "He's all right, he's marrying a supermodel. What's there to be nervous about?"

Moss is apparently set to wear a custom John Galliano gown to the ceremony, with Christian Louboutin shoes. Jamie Hince and his "best man," Kills bandmate Alison Mosshart, are confirmed to wear Yves Saint Laurent, while maid of honor Trish Simonon will sport Erdem. The newly-wedded couple and their 300 guests (including Naomi Campbell, Vivienne Westwood, Stefano Pilati, Stella McCartney, Sir Philip Green, and Edward Enninful) will then retreat to the model's home for the first of a three-day, reportedly £500,000 ($800,000) celebration.

Has John Galliano Been Working on Kate Moss's Wedding Dress in New York?

>> Kate Moss apparently told a group at a Topshop dinner during London Fashion Week in February that John Galliano was designing her wedding dress, and though her fiance Jamie Hince denied the reports, the rumor is still persisting.

Late last month, the Daily Mail reported that Moss had enlisted the help of Galliano’s boyfriend, Alexis Roche, to oversee every last detail of the wedding dress while Galliano prepared for his trial today. "Kate knows that John is deeply sorry for what happened and has always been a loyal friend," a source supposedly said.

And now, rumors have surfaced that Galliano - who told the court today that since the Feb. 24 incident that caused him to get fired at Dior, he has been at rehab in Arizona for two months, and then in Switzerland for two months - has been ensconced at the atelier of a leading fashion designer in New York, working on Kate Moss' wedding dress.

If true, will so public an embrace by Moss signal the beginning of Galliano's return to fashion? The Financial Times's Vanessa Friedman suggests that although Galliano's career is over in its present form, she could see him returning to the industry in time: "People love a redemption story."

Kate Moss's Wedding Is Now Being Called "Mosstock"

Rumors have been circulating the past couple of months that Moss plans to celebrate her July 1 wedding to Jamie Hince with a three day music festival-style shindig including numerous performances - and given the appearance of the marquee and Moss's love of music festivals, it doesn't seem a stretch. Locals have apparently dubbed the impending wedding "Mosstock," and Moss has reportedly approached Snoop Dogg, The Gossip's Beth Ditto, and the Rolling Stones about performing.

One musician who won't be performing? Lady Gaga, who apparently had to send her regrets, as she won't be able to attend.
