>> So far this season, the most eye-catching show package came courtesy of One Management, who had their stable of models mimic an iconic '60s Harper's Bazaar cover by Richard Avedon, but a couple of Paris agencies are running a close second, and curiously, they are both feeling the comic book look. Women Paris altered portfolio pictures of the likes of Iris Strubegger and Iselin Steiro into with a little high contrast look and a splat of yellow, and WM emulated Sin City for their gaggle of fresh faces.

Alexander Wang Evolves With Sportswear-Centric Spring 2010 Collection
>> Alexander Wang hinted recently that he was ready to evolve, telling W's September 2009 issue: "As soon as people get used to what you’re doing, you have to change direction." And evolve he did for Spring 2010: the look of his last few collections, with their body-clinging shapes and primarily black palettes, was replaced by a generally looser silhouette and all shades of khaki, tan, olive, and gray. He told WWD that Spring 2010 for him "is very much about classic American sportswear," and the idea is visible in pieces like a sweatshirt dress with football pad detailing (below) and all the shinguard-like socks cut out at the back of the calf.
But Wang didn't give up the sexy side of his label — there were plenty of bra tops, crop tops, and and lingerie-style shorts to go around. The house was unsurprisingly packed, with Katie Grand (Wang's after-party co-host), Terry Richardson, Olivier Zahm, Diane von Furstenberg (Alex's CFDA-appointed mentor), Erin Wasson, Devon Aoki, Liya Kebede, and Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin all front row. Frankie Rayder, Angela Lindvall, and Iselin Steiro walked, newcomer Mirte Maas opened, Karl Templer styled, and Wang's three styles of sunglasses debuted.
Rag & Bone Adds Sunglasses, Shoes, and Other Sundry Accessories to Their Cool Girl Basics for Spring 2010
>> Marcus Wainwright and David Neville are expanding Rag & Bone in every which way for Spring 2010 — sunglasses in three types of tortoiseshell, accessories spanning belts to stick pins to sure-to-be-clamored over wedge boots. Just as much as the show is about cool girl basics — this time flutter-backed tops and fitted leather jackets — and how show stylist Tabitha Simmons pulled them all together, it's about the models. Iselin Steiro, who hadn't walked a runway in a year, opened; model-to-watch Emily DiDonato made it her first runway show ever; Kinga Rajzak debuted a newly-dyed brunette 'do; and Jessica Stam, who is said to have collaborated on the collection, sat front row and Tweeted about it — she's only doing two New York shows, the first is Anna Sui.
More Spring 2010 Model Showcard Tidbits: Caroline Trentini and Iselin Steiro Back in the Mix; Jourdan Dunn to Walk Pregnant?
>> Casting for New York Fashion Week is under way and the last of the Spring 2010 show packages are trickling in. A few telling tidbits from those pages:
- Is Jourdan Dunn planning on walking while pregnant? She alluded that she may be out this season, but the presence of her card implies otherwise [Models.com]
- Caroline Trentini, who only walked Yves Saint Laurent last season, is throwing her hat back into the ring [IMG Models Blog]

>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Lanvin's past ad campaigns have involved a lot of digital retouching — Olga Sherer floating in a baroque painting or set in repeat against a stark black background — the Fall 2008 campaign even making it into a New Yorker profile about fashion's retoucher Pascal Dangin. For Spring 2009, however, the brand has gone soft — literally. Soft lighting frames Iselin Steiro in Steven Meisel's lens, as she plays mirror-mirror in the first shot and this second addition. [Women Management Blog]

>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Iselin Steiro, who took a break from modeling to focus on her studies, made a few select — and surprising — appearances on the Spring 2009 runways — something she hasn't done since Fall 2007. Although Lanvin wasn't one of them, Alber Elbaz chose her anyway to replace Raquel Zimmermann and Liya Kebede in the Spring 2009 campaign, shot by Steven Meisel. Big mysteries still left? Nina Ricci, Alexander McQueen, Balmain, and of course, Chanel. [Supermodels.nl]

>> THE MODELIZER —The runways have brought plenty of surprise walkers this week — Iselin Steiro and Natalia Vodianova at Balenciaga, Ana Claudia Michels, Frankie Rayder, and Dewi Driegen at Givenchy . . . and now Naomi Campbell is rumored to be appearing on the Hermes runway on Saturday. [Chic Report]
>> THE MODELIZER —Iselin Steiro hasn't walked in any major shows since Balenciaga Fall 2007, but this season may change that all — the still very in-demand model, who has in the meantime been in school, was spotted in Paris this morning, "obviously in town for shows . . . or is that A SHOW." Iselin Steiro, Kinga Rajzak Give Fall 2008 Missoni Their Prints
>> Iselin Steiro may have put her modeling career on hold for a degree in architecture, but that doesn't mean she can't still nab a top campaign or two. In fact, she's appearing in both the Mulberry and Missoni Fall campaigns.
For Missoni, Iselin joins goth girl Kinga Rajzak and Mathias Lauridsen in a set of images inspired by the Bernardo Bertolucci film, The Conformist, because the movie's visual patterns and textures fits well with the Missoni aesthetic.
The use of prints and color scheme in these ads are very in tune with Missoni's brand, but I'm not sure the sterile, stationary feel of the models is; Missoni always seems much more lively and dynamic than frigid to me.
