Angela Lindvall Confirmed to Host Project Runway All Stars

>> Speculation that arose last week has been confirmed: Angela Lindvall - not Heidi Klum - will host Lifetime's upcoming Project Runway All Stars spinoff. "Here I am in New York City! I landed a huge opportunity that will have me here for a month," Lindvall wrote last month on her blog. "Have to keep it top secret for now."

In place of Project Runway judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, Isaac Mizrahi and Marchesa's Georgina Chapman (who also happens to be married to the show's executive producer Harvey Weinstein) will join Lindvall on the All Stars judging panel. The show will premiere later this year on Lifetime.

And speaking of models heading to television, Carolyn Murphy just noted that she's currently "working on a TV show."

John Galliano Previously Refused to Seek Help for Alcohol Issues; Saks Pulls His Men's Collection from Stores

>> John Galliano is now spending time in rehab in Arizona after he was persuaded to go for alcohol problems. According to the Washington Post, he had been having issues for a while now: "In recent months, according to sources, Galliano had been in a depressive state, his drinking increased voluminously and his work habits became increasingly erratic. Friends and colleagues reportedly urged him to seek help, but he refused. No one staged an intervention."

As for how his designs are faring, retailers are still placing orders. Galliano's spokesman said, "It's business as usual." And Dior reported the same. At Neiman Marcus, fashion director Ken Downing says: "We do not carry Galliano, but we carry Dior and we will continue to do so. Was Galliano's behavior acceptable? No. But we haven't had the sense that the collection itself has been tainted. We came to the European shows to buy clothes that will be in the store in six months, and we haven't lost that focus. It's our business."

At Saks, meanwhile, a rep for the store says that Galliano's Dior collections will remain on sale, but "John Galliano's men's collection, of which we had a small presentation, is no longer on the floor of our New York store."

The industry has generally chided Galliano for his comments, but few have come out as Isaac Mizrahi (who is Jewish) did last night, expressing what Galliano did as unforgivable: "I don’t think he’ll work again. I hope not. I hope he doesn’t work again . . . I guess I’m the wrong one to talk to, because I never really liked sort of what he did so much. I liked better what [Alexander] McQueen did. I liked better what Vivienne Westwood did. So now I don’t like it, and he’s a Jew hater? I was like, buh-bye."

And will the downfall of Galliano and the suicide of McQueen - and even the reticence of Tom Ford to take the big stage again like he once did at Gucci - usher in a new type of fashion designer? The Washington Post points out: "Today, only a handful of star artistic-directors-for-hire remains at the helm of big luxury brands, including [Marc] Jacobs at Vuitton and [Karl] Lagerfeld at Chanel. Instead, fashion executives are hiring young, unknown and inexpensive designers with shorter contracts and a business background to churn out big-selling products season after season, and are reaping the fame and fortune for themselves."

>> After last week's rumor suggesting that Google is launching ecommerce on Wednesday, a few clarifying details have come up: the initiative Boutiques.com is actually a curation of virtual boutiques; visitors won't be able to purchase directly from Google but rather, will click through to a brand's online store or an online retailer like Saks, Net-a-Porter, or Barneys to purchase the item.

There are at least 19 designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, Cynthia Rowley, Marchesa, Isaac Mizrahi, Tracy Reese, Prabal Gurung, and Erin Fetherston, who have been invited to set up virtual stores on the site. There will also be curated boutiques selling looks worn by celebrities and influencers like Lady Gaga, Victoria Beckham, Emma Watson, Anna Wintour, Rachel Zoe, and Michelle Obama. Sarah Jessica Parker has been asked to set up her own personalized shop, and a handful of high profile bloggers are also said to have been invited to curate their own boutiques in exchange for a low five-figure payment.

The idea is to have any user be able to do the same - create and share their own personalized boutique with items, brands, and looks they prefer. Elements of entertainment, gaming, and social media are also planned.

>> Iman Joins Isaac Mizrahi as Co-Host of Bravo's The Fashion Show -Although Alessandra Ambrosio was rumored for the position, Bravo just announced that Iman has signed on to replace Kelly Rowland as co-host of fashion competition series The Fashion Show. She joins host Isaac Mizrahi, who is returning for the second season. In the release, Iman notes: "I am so excited to be joining the Bravo team and to be working again with Isaac Mizrahi, my close friend of many, many years. I am also looking forward to all of the behind-the-scenes excitement and drama that is generated through the creative process of these undiscovered fashion designers. This will certainly be a show any follower of fashion will want to see.” The show is currently holding open calls and will air later this year.

Isaac Mizrahi Brings Tartan Prints and Tea Cups to QVC

Last night we celebrated Isaac Mizrahi's new lifestyle collection for QVC with the designer himself and a few of his fashion friends-including Glenda Bailey, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Katrina Bowden.

A section of his studio space in Manhattan's West Side was set up with a television installation-from oversized Sixties sets to modern day plasma screens-each displaying videos of Mizrahi interacting with QVC hosts and a selection of his new product line. In between posing for photos with fans, the always lovely Isaac told us his favorite item was a scarf printed with images of his dog. (There were also plates featuring the pup's mug.) Sadly, there was none of that famous cheesecake on hand, but we did love the look of an oversized tartan throw, a silver and gold tea set ($40), and one very small cross-body saddle bag.

Isaac Mizrahi Live! will debut on QVC December 4 - 7.

Fashion Industry Designs Houses for Womens' Charity

You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their home-Vera Wang's is covered in rhinestones and tulle, Isaac Mizrahi's is perfectly printed in vibrant pink, Diane von Furstenberg's is dripping in leopard and lips, and Sean Combs' comes equipped with a helipad.

Although not real interiors, these papier-mâché houses were created by fashion celebrities coming together to raise money for the Women In Need charity. Each hand-decorated piece will be displayed in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and auctioned on charitybuzz.com on November 9th. The Hidden Treasures of QVC and HSN

Shopping online feels as natural as purchasing in-store, but buying clothes from a TV-based retailer still seems a little unconventional. Designers, however, are increasingly venturing onto the small screen to hawk their wares. Isaac Mizrahi, always one to explore new ways of getting products to customers, inked a deal with QVC over the Summer, while Naeem Khan is set to debut his premiere collection for HSN on October 28. We took a quick look at some HSN and QVC products that are available now, from established designers like Erin Fetherston and Kenneth Jay Lane.

>> Last night at the 92nd Street Y in New York, Ashley Olsen, the Washington Post's Robin Givhan, and Isaac Mizrahi gathered to chat with Glamour's Cindi Leive about the "Future of Fashion." Ashley, dressed in a long dress - a production sample from The Row - told Glamour backstage: "I'm actually not very comfortable with public speaking, and that was something I told myself I'd work on - getting out more and doing some public speaking."

Her "number one teammate," sister Mary-Kate, and boyfriend Justin Bartha were in the audience to cheer her on as she doled out tidbits like The Row's clients are an average age of 50, she thinks girls with small budgets who want to be fashionable should shop vintage, and she loves her Toms shoes: "So comfortable." Isaac Mizrahi helped keep the tone light - at one point, he took of his shoes to show off his toes, painted a "day-glo pumpkin" color, but the panel did delve into some heavy topics.
