June 25, 2009 12:42 pm
>> Gap is still struggling to define itself — and for the first time in seven years, the company is looking at using a different creative agency — it has worked with Laird & Partners since 2002 — for its Holiday 2009 campaign, which could mean an entirely different approach to those simple backgrounded studio shots we've become accustomed to.But that may not be the only big change on the horizon for the company: Uniqlo's owner, Fast Retailing, which counts French brands Comptoir des Cotonniers and Princesse tam.tam as well as Theory among its portfolio, may be after the American retailer. CEO Tadashi Yanai recently said that he wants Fast Retailing to become the world's biggest clothing manufacturer and retailer within the next decade: "To achieve our target, the Asian market is the most important and we have already begun to expand there.

Dundas Continues to Look Past House Prints at Emilio Pucci for Cruise 2010
June 23, 2009 6:04 pm
>> Peter Dundas's debut Fall 2009 collection at Pucci was generally well-received — Carine Roitfeld and Lily Cole both ended up wearing dresses from the collection on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet — and notably took the house beyond its print heritage; the Cruise 2010 collection looks to do the same. Dundas said he was inspired by the sea, sailors, and the sun; Perhaps we owe the influence to a recent scuba diving excursion?

>> INSIDER WIRE —Marc Jacobs the label is having to cut back — no holiday party, no Fashion Week after party, and now he's slicing his Fall 2009 guest list down from the normal 2,000 to only 700 — even though it's hosted in his usual venue. Marc Jacobs the man, however, seems to be doing just fine — apparently he just moved into a $30,000-a-month Andre Balazs-developed condo in SoHo, near his corporate office — it must be those Louis Vuitton dollars helping out.

October 28, 2008 12:39 pm
>> Last week, Philip Green credited Topshop's record profits to Kate Moss's "Kate effect" — "we have been good for her and she has been good for us" — and she proved him right. Her holiday Topshop collection, which launched today, is already selling out: The panther dress she wore to Vivienne Westwood sold out on Topshop.com within an hour, and the triangle dress she wore out last month is mostly gone, too.Now that she's had eight successful lines, maybe Sir Philip will let Kate do a men's range for Topshop like she wants? He hasn't ruled out the possibility, but has neglected to grant her wish so far: "She's asked me to do a men's range.
