Ralph Rucci will not show during New York Fashion Week. Instead, Rucci has opted to hold private showroom appointments. "Cost is always a factor but [that] was not the driving force behind this decision," the communication director for the label says. [Vogue UK]

A former Harper's Bazaar intern is suing Hearst for unpaid work hours. The lawsuit claims that during the intern's tenure at the magazine, she sometimes worked up to 55 hours a week performing duties that were more employee-like than intern-like - and she wants to be paid for it. [Styleite]

Gisele has sent an email to friends and family requesting prayers and positive vibes for husband Tom Brady, who will play in this Sunday's Super Bowl. The British Advertising Authority has banned a L'Oreal ad because it features a digitally altered image of actress Rachel Weisz. The authority says the photos "misleadingly exaggerated" how well the product - a skin-firming cream - works. [Styleite]

Anna Wintour has been revealed as one of President Obama's major re-election fundraisers. According to a recently published list, Wintour has raised more than $500,000. [Telegraph]

Jonathan Saunders has been named the winner of the British Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. The Scottish designer will receive 200,000 euros to invest in his business. [Huffington Post]

Charlotte Gainsbourg recently released a new double album, and it was produced by Beck. Now she's teamed up with The Horrors' Tom Furse for a remix of her song "Anna." Harper's Bazaar to Get a Creative Revamp

>> A decade into her career as editor of Harper's Bazaar, Glenda Bailey is ready to give the magazine a major creative refresh.

Bazaar - which was already headed for an increase in trim size, an upgrade in paper and cover stock, and a reduction in frequency from 11 to 10 issues per year - will also receive the design input of Robin Derrick of Spring Studios. Bailey hired Derrick, who was creative director of Vogue UK for 10 years until last June, to work with Bazaar's creative director Stephen Gan on what are expected to be big changes - that will be revealed in the magazine's March 2012 issue.

“After 10 years, it’s time to refresh - Stephen and I are looking forward to evolving Bazaar’s design for the next decade, and we are excited to be collaborating with Robin,” Bailey said.

Of all the major fashion magazines - Vogue, Elle, and W - Bazaar was the only one to suffer a drop in ad pages in the first six months of 2011. The trend continued in the third quarter of this year, with the magazine's ad pages falling 4.1 percent year over year.

Alexander Wang Wants To Be the Next Ralph Lauren

He has aspirations to create a major lifestyle brand along the lines of Ralph Lauren's, Wang says: "Ralph Lauren is someone that I've always looked up to. That's what I want to be able to do - have control until the very end. And at the same time, have as much passion and love and enjoy it as much, and for that to be able to be translated into the product," says Wang. "You can really feel that from someone like Ralph. You know the things that he loves, you can see it, you can see it in the stores, you can feel it in the product that he creates." The bigger Wang gets, the less "It" he wants to be. A friend recently referred to the designer's "It" status in a blog post, Wang says: "I texted him right away and I was like, ' Please do not ever refer to me as anything It, whether it's It boy, It designer, It person.'" >> Vogue was the only American fashion magazine to show a newsstand sales increase in the first half of 2011, thanks to its March Lady Gaga cover. The pink-haired Gaga image drove sales up by more than 100,000 copies over the March 2010 Vogue issue, which featured Tina Fey on the cover; and overall, the magazine averaged 360,000 copies at the newsstand during the first half of this year, up 12.7 percent.

Harper's Bazaar, meanwhile - which was up 10 percent during the first half of last year when the rest of fashion magazines were down - dropped 14.3 percent to 137,117. “It would be a lot easier if we could feature proven sellers like Jennifer Aniston or Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover every month, but we took some risks this year and tried stars that were a little outside of the norm for us, and they didn’t always translate into newsstand sales,” editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey admitted. Among those departures: Julianna Margulies for January 2011, Kim Kardashian for March 2011, and Courteney Cox for April 2011.

W - which has never relied on newsstand sales - was down 11.8 percent to 19,006, and Elle was down 9 percent to 250,056. See the big four's best and worst-selling covers for the first half of 2011 in the slideshow.

Vogue Tops Other Fashion Magazines in September Ad Pages, Has Plans for a New Website

>> Vogue's September 2011 issue will boast 584 ad pages, with an increase of 50 pages - or 9.3 percent - over its September 2010 issue (By comparison, Vogue had its all-time high - pre-recession - in 2007, with 727 ad pages.). Elle's September 2011 issue was down 6.8 percent to 350 ad pages; Harper's Bazaar came in at 308, a 2.2 percent gain; and W increased 3 percent to 255 pages. When announcing the magazine's numbers yesterday, Vogue publisher Susan Plagemann added that Vogue plans to roll out another website aside from Vogue.com in December, but she wouldn't give further details. Glenda Bailey Rumored To Be Leaving Harper's Bazaar

Carol Smith, the former Elle publisher, officially starts tomorrow as Bazaar's new VP, publisher, and chief revenue officer, and WWD suggests that she "can’t be happy with the magazine’s current numbers and will want to turn the magazine around right off the bat."

Bazaar finished the first half of 2011 down 5.4 percent in ad pages, and circulation numbers so far this year are behind those of 2010. But one Bazaar source tells WWD: “Glenda rumors come all the time, it’s just like the boy who cries wolf. For the past two years, there have been Glenda rumors.”

Marchesa's Polished Designer Georgina Chapman Is Secretly Messy
