Retailing from $50 to $150, the capsule will be sold nationwide in 225 Macy's stores - as well as online at Macys.com - starting Oct. 26 and features a bevy of super-festive Holiday separates: Shiny leopard-print shifts, voluminous ruffled party dresses, sequined tees, and wildly-patterned tux trousers. “This capsule reflects my enduring loves, but is really a celebration of my biggest inspiration of all - the energy and vitality of women themselves," Valli explains. "This collection is a passport into my world and a chance to experience the passion and romance of my house and Paris itself." Giambattista Valli Confirmed for Macy's Collaboration

>> Straight after Karl Lagerfeld's Macy's line drops at the end of this month, Giambattista Valli - in his first foray into affordable fashion - is collaborating on a line for the retailer.

The limited-edition Giambattista Valli for Macy's collection includes cocktail dresses, skirts, blouses, light jackets, edgy pants, and graphic tees, all of which stick to a mainly red and black palette, with touches of gold, gray, and fuchsia. Alongside bold prints and color, Valli worked with feminine fabrics, lace, tweed, brocade, faux fur, and point d’esprit tulle.

The collection bows Oct. 26 both in 225 Macy's stores and on the retailer's website, and runs $50 to $150.

Already, Macy's has designers lined up for next Spring, according to Martine Reardon, EVP of marketing and advertising: “Look for us to be doing new things in the spring. We’re looking at other apparel categories. We’re also looking at shoes, handbags and jewelry. Anything is possible for the future.”

A First Look at Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's (Updated)

>> Almost seven years after his H&M collaboration, Karl Lagerfeld is back with another one-off mass collection, this time for Macy's. The 45-piece collection, which hits 235 of the 800-plus Macy's stores and Macys.com on Aug. 31, promises to incorporate Lagerfeld's signature style - read: high-collared pieces, as well as edgier, rock'n'roll looks - and run $50 to $170.

The August 2011 issue of Vogue provides a first look at the collection: a $109 dress that Lagerfeld describes as "a coup d'oeil to the dresses I designed for Chloe and the girlish, more romantic mood of the seventies." As for why he decided to work with Macy's on the collection for the past year, Lagerfeld says: "These partnerships are a working holiday from my normal discipline, and I like to think differently."

After Lagerfeld, Macy's will reportedly feature Giambattista Valli in November, and then for Holiday 2011, Lagerfeld will be back along with three other designers for more Macy's exclusives.

Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 Couture

>> Giambattista Valli finally got the opportunity to show his own couture collection yesterday (when designing at Emanuel Ungaro from 2001 through 2004, he focused on ready-to-wear while Ungaro himself held the couture reins) as a guest member of the Paris couture calendar.

“The most beautiful thing about the couture is the devotion,” Valli noted after the show, which encompassed a whopping 45 looks focusing on the Valli DNA - bicolored dresses, volume and endless amounts of chiffon, pops of vivid color, and animal prints. The opening look was inspired by the blouse de cabine - the white tunic shirt of the atelier worker - which Valli intended to symbolize his couture as a “work in progress,” and his partner, jewelry designer Luigi Scialanga, was also involved, contributing metal belts that Valli wanted to "suggest the arms of the man around the waist of the girl - savage, wild, strong, against the fragility of the clothes.”

Giambattista Valli To Show Couture

>> Giambattista Valli has built a robust part of his six-year-old business on bridal and private couture orders, but now he's taking the first step in making his couture official. The Chambre Syndicale has elected Valli a guest member of the Paris couture calendar, and he will present a collection during the July 2011 or January 2012 couture weeks.

A designer has to be a guest couture member for a minimum of five years before their collection is eligible to officially be called haute couture, and guest members are elected by the 15 houses that have already earned the official couture title, among them Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Chanel, and Maison Martin Margiela.

Giambattista Valli Is Now Designing for Longchamp
