Now in their fourth season since graduating from Central St Martins, the twin sis duo behind Felder Felder have nearly perfected that irresistible balance between hard and soft fashion elements. This season there was punk-chic metal embroidery and voluptuous Mongolian lambs wool, there were body-hugging leather pieces and pops of cobalt and tangerine to liven things up. If the archetypal concept of "cool girl" dressing involves a cocktail dress with a little leather jacket thrown over-top, then think of Felder Felder as modern interpreters of that look. London, New York Designers Take Show to Paris in Hope of More Sales

>> Budget cuts brought fewer European retailers to New York Fashion Week and fewer US retailers to London Fashion Week - Julie Gilhart of Barneys, for one - so instead, designers are meeting them at the one Fashion Week they all can't miss: Paris.

Those from New York heading across the seas to meet with potential buyers and hopefully secure sales are Brian Reyes, Alexander Wang, and Victoria Bartlett of VPL, who are all sharing a space, plus Elise Overland, Jason Wu, Erin Fetherston, and Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry. Diane von Furstenberg and Philip Crangi have already been spotted together at Tuileries, but The Ritz Paris is said to be the unofficial headquarters of retailer-designer-meet-and-greet activity.

The British Fashion Council is also investing itself in a trip to Paris - starting Friday, designers such as House of Holland, Osman Yousefzada, Felder Felder and Louise Gray will reside at the JTM Gallery on Rue de Richelieu, where international fashion press and buyers will have a second chance to peruse the collections; the hope, of course, is to increase investment in London designers.

Merry Christmas From Felder Felder

When we wake up in the morning we check what is on our Blackberry half-filled with dread that there will be two thousand "So-and-so wears such-and-such and last night's thing" emails waiting to be opened. This morning, we were pleasantly surprised to find a few less of those and one charming holiday card from the girls at Felder Felder. Cost-effective, humble, and personable we think this is a nice way for designers to spread the holiday spirit. Not to mention, the perfect opportunity for us to look back on their Spring 09 collection and anticipate what's next.

The designers behind Felder Felder, German twin sisters Annette and Daniela Felder, graduated from Central St Martins just two years ago and, already, their clothing has been shot by Steven Misel for Italian Vogue and Browns Focus in London has declared them their best selling brand. To give you an idea of their aesthetic, you should take a peek at how the sister's dress themselves. Felder Felder is all about contrasts, in texture and silhouette, and their approach to dressing and designing involves mixing tougher, more tailored pieces (like leather hot shorts or a leather fringe jacket) with softer, more fluid ones (like maxi-length chiffon numbers). For Spring 09 the sisters kept to a nude palette, save for the occasional burst of salmon or sea foam, and it was successful for being experimental without being frivolous--something definitely appreciated on the Spring 09 catwalks.
