Brazilians Still Going Strong at Victoria's Secret Fashion Show; Plus, After Party Images

>> Victoria's Secret models are all over fashion editorials and campaigns these days - Models.com suspects Candice Swanepoel might be next to cross over - and no wonder, with 10 and Harper's Bazaar editor Sophia Neophitou as show stylist. As Neophitou told Style.com of casting the show: “It’s such an editorial level . . . We looked at girls we love to shoot editorially; that’s what great. I think there’s a perception before you get here of what will work. But the reality is, it’s about the girl, it’s about the woman, what she brings as a human being to it, rather than has she got a size 34C cup. No, it’s not about that at all. That’s what they’ve got the miracle bras for.”

Brazilians were heavily favored as usual this year, with Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart, Flavia Oliveira, Lais Ribeiro, Fabiana Semprebom, Emanuela de Paula, Gracie Carvalho, and Martha Streck all representing; 10 Brazilians out of the 33 total models. The 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Unveiled - Karolina Kurkova, Jessica Stam, and Lily Donaldson Work It

>> Anne Vyalitsyna peeked out in a pink robe and waved at the crowd gathering at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York, where the 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was taped this evening in front of an audience that included Carine Roitfeld, Giovanna Battaglia, Alexander Wang, Zac Posen and his boyfriend Christopher Niquet, Kate Lanphear, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Then, an announcer came on, asking that cell phones be stowed: "Frankly, if you need to use those devices at a show like this, you've got other problems."

Lais Ribeiro, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Lily Donaldson, and Heloise Guerin all walked for Victoria's Secret for the first time today, but it was Angel Adriana Lima who opened the show, riding a twirling carousel to make her debut in the first, "Tough Love"-themed segment (She and Karolina Kurkova both made their return after skipping last year's show while pregnant.). It was the first of many minor obstacles the 33 models had to maneuver through during the show, all while smiling and waving to the crowd. In the sporty "Game On" segment, while twirling her ribbon stick, Izabel Goulart, got the ribbon stuck around her neck and had to untangle herself; Candice Swanepoel estimated her "Heavenly Bodies" wings weighed half of her body weight - "It’s like driving a car because they’re so far away from my body. I have to turn them before I turn my body. It’s an honor to get them. I told my trainer, ‘You better prepare me for this! We’ve been doing some extra push ups!’”; Anja Rubik, too, had expansive wings in the "Heavenly Bodies" - turning at the end of the runway with all those streamers deserved applause in itself; and in the final, "Pink Planet" segment, mylar balloon rained the runway from above, causing Maryna Linchuk and Jacquelyn Jablonski to have to kick them out of the way to get down the runway.

But there was plenty of fun to be had - Isabeli Fontana, who closed out the "Game On" segment, hammed it up for the cameras with her dumbbell prop, and Lily Aldridge had the support of her fiance Caleb Followill and the rest of Kings of Leon, front row. In the next section over, Anne V's boyfriend Adam Levine and the rest of Maroon 5 gave her a standing ovation as she made her first runway appearance - which Anne rewarded with a blown kiss.

Akon and Katy Perry both performed - him appropriately singing "Angel," and her singing "Teenage Dream" for the younger, Victoria's Secret Pink-themed segment. And Chanel Iman closed the show in bubble wings with a bubble-squirting gun. The final cut airs Nov. 30 on CBS.

2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Casting Video; Plus - Who's Confirmed So Far (Karolina Kurkova Is!)

>> With the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show taping a week away, fittings are well under way - Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Behati Prinsloo were snapped going to theirs yesterday, and Chanel Iman was there, too. She tweeted yesterday: "All day prep for Victoria Secret Show and most exciting FITTING!!! Keeping everything a Secret!!SSSSHHHH......!! ;)" Today, Lily Aldridge was on deck, and Izabel Goulart, too, has stopped in - apparently she's getting wings this year, and cried at her fitting when she found out.

A video of the show's castings has popped up (above) - hopefuls Hana Soukupova and Shannan Click are among those shown - and Monica Mitro, who has been casting the show for 16 years, since its inception, says, "It's really difficult because we see a lot of great girls … they come in here in their bras and panties, and normally that's not the way castings go, but we have to see how everything looks together … they literally have to be perfect."

Those deemed perfect so far? Besides those mentioned above, Flavia de Oliveira, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Liu Wen, Anja Rubik, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Isabeli Fontana, Lindsay Ellingson, Jessica Stam, Emanuela de Paula, Maryna Linchuk, Magdalena Frackowiak, Edita Vilkeviciute, and as rumored, Karolina Kurkova, are all expected.

Ohne Titel's Floral Gill and Alexa Adams Are Feeling Alaia-Like Knit Skirts and Neoprene Tops for Spring 2011

>> Flora Gill and Alexa Adams say that their Fall 2010 collection resulted in a 300 percent jump in sales for Ohne Titel, but they're still attracting the art fashion crowd that has been with them from the beginning: pre-show, Cecilia Dean, wearing an Ohne Titel dress, tucked away a bicycle helmet into her bag, while Olivier Zahm arrived half an hour late - just after a curtain was dropped at the entrance - still stuffing change from a cab ride into his pocket. Carine Roitfeld, who's attended the past couple of seasons, was nowhere to be seen, however (It seems she had not yet arrived, as she was first spotted this morning at Derek Lam).

For Spring, Gill and Adams were inspired by the Japanese woodblock artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi - thanks to a Japan Society exhibit earlier this year - and sent out neoprene tanks (which will apparently be special order-only), Alaia-esque knit dresses with flared skirts, and oversized tailored vests, all on a womanly cast of models: Catherine McNeil, who opened, Cameron Russell in her first and only appearance so far this week, Emanuela de Paula (who hasn't walked a Fashion Week since Fall 2007), and Lakshmi Menon among them. The designers, who collaborated with the artist Tauba Auerbach on lucite and elastic-banded jewelry - marking her first time as a jeweler - also premiered their first handbags.

2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Has More Casting Surprises: Dorothea Barth Jorgensen and Anastasia Kuznetsova

>> Given that the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is taping tomorrow, lots of tidbits have been rolling in between all the fittings and the models' appearance in Times Square this morning. We've gotten previews of Liu Wen's (two!) outfits, as well as those of VS regulars Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Selita Ebanks, and after this morning's appearance, more clues as to who will be walking - including a few surprises.

Spring 2010 runway newcomer Anastasia Kuznetsova and Dorothea Barth Jorgensen both popped up in the Times Square photos, as did Elyse Taylor, Sessilee Lopez, and Russian model Tatiana Kovylina, who walked for Victoria's Secret in 2005. Anja Rubik and Abbey Lee Kershaw have also been confirmed as show castmembers, but have yet to make an appearance, and although unconfirmed, Anna Maria Jagodzinska's photo was on the show casting board, so she may show up as well.

UPDATE: Photos of Anna J. and Edita Vilkeviciute have been spotted on the casting board in a newly posted video; word is Emanuela de Paula will not be walking after all because of a conflicting photoshoot. [YouTube, TFS, TFS]

Victoria's Secret Announces Newest Angels, Including Chanel Iman

>> With Angel Heidi Klum just three weeks post-partum, fellow Angel Adriana Lima nearing the end of her pregnancy, and former Angel Karolina Kurkova just giving birth late last week, Victoria's Secret was bound to make some changes before their annual Fashion Show tapes on Nov. 19.

Heidi Klum is said to be hosting the event, which is back in New York City this year, and while non-Angel casting is always highly anticipated, five new faces now have a guarantee. In addition to Klum, Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Marisa Miller, and Doutzen Kroes, the company has named Emanuela de Paula, Lindsay Ellingson, Candice Swanepoel, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Chanel Iman as their newest Angels - Iman has said in the past being an Angel was one of her modeling goals. First-time Angels are said to typically sign three-year contracts.

2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Returning to New York City

>> This morning, Victoria's Secret Angels Marisa Miller and Alessandra Ambrossio, plus Emanuela de Paula and Lindsay Ellingson appeared on CBS's The Early Show to announce that the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - which tapes in November and airs on CBS in December - is returning to New York City for the first time since 2005. They didn't reveal any specific dates or location, but last year's show was at the Fontainbleau Hotel in Miami.

No word on whether de Paula and Ellingson are new Angels - both Selita Ebanks and Karolina Kurkova neglected to renew their Angel contracts this year - and two Angels are currently pregnant: Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima. Heidi is due in October and told People of her prospects on the show: "The birth will be very, very close to when the show is. I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk in my underwear quite that fast! We’ll see." Meanwhile, Adriana Lima, who is due in December, previously told People that she was skipping the show "unless I can be dressed as Santa Claus," but is now rumored to be involved in the show somehow. Meanwhile, the costume preparation is already said to be under way . . .

Bugs, Elephants, and Models Unite in Botswana for Pirelli 2009

>> Deep in the Okavango Delta of Botswana, photographer Peter Beard directed Mariacarla Boscono and Malgosia Bela to "show me fun" as they mucked through an algae-covered swamp in May. "Does it feel nice?" he asked Malgosia, who was submerged up to her waist in the goo. "It's nice," she replied, bringing her green hands up to her face.

The finished product - the 2009 Pirelli calendar - debuted yesterday, and you can see the whole thing here (NSFW), but it didn't come without the model cast (Rianne Ten Haken, Isabeli Fontana, Kemp Muhl, Daria Werbowy, Lara Stone, and Emanuela de Paula in addition to Mariacarla and Malgosia) going out on a limb - literally: one shot features a number of them posing nude way up in a bare tree. And they weren't always so comfortable - a big bug was placed on Isabeli's face, and though Peter directs, "Eyes open! Eyes open!" she visibly flinches, "I can't."

2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Unveiled: Lara, Edita, and Sessilee Strut It

>> After weeks of speculation, we got our answers. As rumored, Izabel Goulart is no longer a Victoria's Secret Angel - there is speculation that she broke her contract to work for Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange - but she, along with the Angels and 26 other non-Angel models, taped the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Miami on Saturday. There were a few casting surprises - no Asian models?; some disappointments - no Natasha Poly or Jessica Stam; and lots of newcomers - Arlenis Sosa Pena, Sarah Stephens, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Sessilee Lopez, Clara Alonso, Edita Vilkeviciute, Erin Heatherton, and even Lara Stone made it after all. Broken glass catwalk aside, Maryna Linchuk had a stellar outing - many have their bets on a Angel contract for her in the future - and Doutzen Kroes cozied up to boyfriend DJ Ruckus at the after-party. All in all, enough party to hold us over until the show airs Dec. 3.

>> As the Victoria's Secret yacht rolled into Miami and the girls had a beach photoshoot today, we got to see of the 30 non-Angel faces that will be participating in this weekend's fashion show - 19 of them, to be exact. No sign of Lara Stone, Jessica Stam, or Natasha Poly, but after missing yesterday's event, Izabel Goulart is there. There are plenty of new faces - Abbey Lee Kershaw and Sarah Stephens represent Australia, Arlenis Sosa Pena the Dominican Republic, Maryna Linchuk Belarus, and Erin Heatherton the US.
